Mario Kart Wii, now with 99% more murder and suicide!
Mario Kart Black is a Super Mario Bros. creepypasta based off of Mario Kart Wii, infamous for being yet another So Bad, It's Good creepypasta and for using Ron J to make Mario a Nightmare Retardant. It claims that the writer, an anonymous Wikia user, has found a lore-changing hacked version of the game, while sharing her haunted experiences with the game as well as explaining the loss of her family as well as finding out others losing the relatives to the creepypasta's antagonist, Ron J, all written in a bullshit tone that's impossible to even take seriously.

One day, the protagonist, named Sarah in the story and a girl who used to live in a neighborhood in New Jersey, is at GameStop picking out a game for her older brother Jacob's 21st birthday when she notices a rather eerie-looking copy of Mario Kart Wii "Rated M". Sarah and Jacob take the hacked disc back home and load the tampered disc into Jacob's new black Wii (which stores more data than the regular Wii console), before playing the grisly game…

Once the two siblings load the disc, the screen is just pitch-black, without sound. Later, after pressing start, a demon, later revealed to be the Devil himself, Ron J, greets them with bloodstained writing:

"Welcome to my World. Now we can have fun…RACING IN HELL."

The words are followed by a grisly animation of Mario and Luigi stabbing each other to death, which Jacob somehow finds enjoyment in. Now, in the actual game, there is no multiplayer, and no features besides Single-Player mode by that. Then, another black screen with two options, "Into Hell" or "…" are shown. Sarah and Jacob quickly select "Into Hell", and find the only playable character is Mario, and the only kart is the Wild Wing. Sarah selects the only non-previewing track, "SUICIDE", only for Ron J to greet them with these words:

"I'm impressed with you. You really want to come here…YOU REALLY WANT IT, DON'T YOU?"

The game is then followed by a demonic Evil Laugh and a Jump Scare of Shadow-Sana's widely-known horror artwork piece, "Super Horror Mario". Mario is then taken to a grisly track sight of a foggy dark forest with a pitch-black sky and blood falling from said sky like rain. The race then begins, with the infamous "Endless Stairs" theme from Super Mario 64 playing, and progressively increasing in volume, until a lightning strike somehow causes a highly disturbing scene of smashed and burned karts littering the track, with corpses of various racers surrounding Mario, leaving him Plagued by Nightmares. Ron J then directs the siblings to turn around, but to no success. A second lightning strike, followed by a violent scream, then has Ron J yelling Mario's name, causing Mario to scream in fear as he flukes a jump, injuring him severely.

When Sarah inquires as to who said that, Ron J then tells Sarah that it was him. Then the game goes pitch-black, until blood spatters on the screen, followed by Ron J welcoming them "to hell" and manipulating Mario to the point of insanity, when Mario follows Ron J's instructions and runs off a cliff, killing himself in the process. And then, after Jacob smashes the Wii into pieces, Ron J then appears out of Sarah's bedroom window, telling them to "say hello to murder and suicide". Sarah and Jacob then flee the scene. However, Jacob isn't so lucky, as he is suddenly captured and brutally killed by Ron J, now taking on Mario's form.

Meanwhile, back at the GameStop where she has bought the disc, Sarah explains what happened to the cashier. The cashier later reveals that others have played the game and fell victim to Ron J, causing them to run for their lives. Even the cashier himself breaks down and explains his friends and family were also taken by Ron J himself, but not before Sarah undergoes a Heel Realization and finds out that it was not just Jacob that was killed, but Ron J has also already killed Sarah's parents as well! Sarah then escapes to Louisiana, leaving behind Ron J for good, until another unfortunate victim finds the hacked disc, repeating the same cycle.

The creepypasta became widely infamous thanks to a ROM Hack version of the creepypasta created by Roobitz made to mock the creepypasta, as well as the creepypasta being featured by Yuriofwind in his "Bullshit Creepypasta Storytimes" series. The ROM Hack version can be downloaded here. The fanfic itself thankfully is now lost to time, as the Wikia associated with it was taken down.

Mario Kart Black provides examples of:

  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: In the story, Ron J, who is said to be the Devil himself, brutally murders Jacob, and later also murders Sarah's parents. Later, the cashier reluctantly reveals that others who bought MKB had also fallen victim to Ron J, as well as his own friends and family.
  • Adaptational Villainy: As the titular hero of the Mario series, Mario was never intended to be a villain of any kind. His MKB counterpart, Ron J, is said to be the Devil himself, and is also the one responsible for brutally murdering Sarah's brother.
  • Given Name Reveal: The ROM Hack adaptation names the Mario in this creepypasta as "Ron J".
  • Leaking Can of Evil: While trapped inside the hacked disc, Ron J is able to distribute himself to various markets, waiting for any unsuspecting victim to purchase it, before brutally murdering those close to them, mentally scarring them for life. Why, even the back of his case has 2 words written on it: MURDER and SUICIDE, both of which are written in big bloody letters.
  • Canon Discontinuity: In-universe, this presumably happened, assuming the level isn't actually Dummied Out (hence why it's so difficult to get to). Mario now knows Ron J's malice, but all other Mario Kart games ignore this.
  • Dark Fic: The creepypasta describes itself as a lost, secret level to Mario Kart Wii that no one has ever found evidence of. It's full of blood, gore, suicide and attempted murder.
  • Death Glare: The start of the level Emily and her brother play greets the duo with a grisly Jump Scare of Shadow-Sana’a infamous horror art piece "Super Horror Mario".
  • Sanity Slippage: At worst, Ron J can leave his victims Plagued by Nightmares, or even worse, cause them to lose their sanity. It is even noted in the hacked game, when Ron J causes Mario to lose his sanity and run off a cliff, essentially causing Mario to become Driven to Suicide.
  • The Internet Is for Porn: The opening of the ROM Hack is literally just Gorn (or at least, only to Sarah's older brother).
  • Jump Scare: The opening scene in the ROM hack is highly disturbing, and Super Horror Mario's jumpscare at the start of Level Suicide is also just as nightmarish.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: At the end of the creepypasta, the cashier admits to other people playing the game and seeing their relatives and friends horrifically murdered, but not before Sarah undergoes a Heel Realization and escapes to Louisiana, leaving behind Ron J for good.
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: A result of an unfortunate Demonic Possession has led to the rise of Ron J and his ongoing spree of first-degree murder. Later, after Sarah abandons the disc and escapes to Louisiana, the cycle repeats with another unfortunate soon-to-be victim of Ron J.
  • Sibling Murder: Luigi and Mario, both brothers, murder each other at the opening of the ROM hack.
  • Plagued by Nightmares: As the story says, the player(s) unlucky enough to play this game would be scarred by devastating memories for the rest of their lives. Even in the game, the grisly sight leaves Mario in tears.
  • Troll Fic: The ROM Hack adaptation by Roobitz was officially stated to have been made solely for fun as a texture pack.
