Cover Page, our protagonist Inumaki Tomoe

A young woman from our world is reincarnated into Inumaki Tomoe, the twin sister of the character Inumaki Toge. The story starts from Tomoe's childhood and continues into the Jujutsu Tech years, where she tries to move the plot in a way that her brother keeps both arms during the pinnacle Shibuya attack, but all of her actions have consequences.

making sure my brother has both arms by the time he turns 18: a story by author lulu_lisbon is an ongoing self-insert fanfiction in the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom.

The story defies the standard self-insert formula, with a near parody of God-Mode Sue in the form of Tomoe acknowledging the ridiculous power imbalances between sorcerer abilities, and often thinking of herself as a non-human creature. The sample paragraph below highlights this:

  • We walk among the stars and call ourselves gods. We wear a crown of broken antlers in someone else’s dignity and shame. We’re different, us versus them, us versus the world, and there’s never any changing that. We’ll be alone, high in the clouds, asking the sun to set and the moon to rise.

making sure my brother has both arms by the time he turns 18: a story contains examples of:

  • A God Am I:
    • Gojo thinks himself above the rest of the world.
    • This fic specifically highlights how mentally out of shape Gojo is compared to others. No more romantic nice guy.
  • Adaptational Badass:
    • Toge becomes a ninja.
    • Toge and Megumi become parkour/free running enthusiasts.
  • Bloody Horror:
    • On par with a Jujutsu Kaisen story.
    • Tomoe narrates a form of "communication" with the death paintings, usually in the form of dreaming and/or agonising over bloody pulps of leftover fetal remains.
  • Body Motifs: A loss of bodily anonymity and control makes frequent appearances.
  • Burn the Witch!: The Inumaki twins are not treated very well.
  • Character Signature Song: All characters have an associated music genre/style in Tomoe's narration. Often used to indirectly highlight each character's personality.
  • Child Soldiers: Classic shounen anime. What did you expect?
  • Coming of Age Story: The entire fic details the growth of Tomoe and her peers. Notably, she has changed from a passive child to a manipulative and cunning planner.
  • Deconstructed Character Archetype:
    • Gojo and Tomoe are meant to be protagonist heroes in this story, but they are repeatedly shown to have manipulative, sly, and villain-type traits, such as Gojo's non-sexual grooming of his students or Tomoe willingly using her sexuality and Gojo's trust in her to manipulate him.
  • Did They or Didn't They?: Tomoe may or may not have slept with Hakari and/or Kirara. Even the readers don't know.
  • Most Writers Are Adults: All of the teenage characters' intellect is interchangeable with the adults.
  • Nausea Fuel:
    • Gojo is heavily implied to have mommy issues and uses Tomoe as a step-in figure.
      • Tomoe notes that although they don't share any romantic interest, Gojo is still inappropriately attached to her.
    • Childbirth
    • Naoya is implied to be sexually aroused because Tomoe beats him up.
    • Visceral descriptions of dead babies.
  • Next Life as a Fictional Character: The woes of self-insert fanfiction. Tomoe can't help it!
  • Power Dynamics Squick: Naoya is betrayed by the boner despite his insistence on being a Sigma Male.
  • Red Light District: Akihabara. Or, Hakari being himself.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Tomoe and Toge are similar in many ways, but Tomoe is notably more mature whilst Toge can sometimes be bullheaded. Tomoe is a front-line fighter, pushed into the spotlight constantly even when she doesn't want to. Toge is classified as a "ninja," using weaponry and taking enemies out in the shadows. The little brother also seems to have healthier friendships with people his age, out of the influence of Gojo.
  • Squick: Tomoe and Gojo's entire relationship.
  • Story-Breaker Power:
    • All special grade sorcerers, pretty much.
    • Gojo's six eyes with infinity. Yaga's cursed puppets. Yuuta unleashing Rika to do unfathomable damage. Tomoe's reality bending, death-defying cursed speech.
  • Tell Me About My Father: Tomoe and Toge don't care, this trope is interestingly averted when it would otherwise be common. Tomoe has a huge mother complex and really only values feminine relationships, whilst Toge is raised by a mother and a sister figure and thus finds male guardians unnecessary, especially after Gojo.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Chapter 6: The status quo of the story is dramatically altered and we see into Tomoe's psyche and line of thought once it is revealed that being a mother is a core part of her identity that she lost, and she's willing to revive the cursed wombs to gain piety from them.
    • Chapter 8: Tomoe destroys Geto Suguru's corpse so that Kenjaku can't use it.
    • Chapter 12: The Inumaki Clan is elevated in status, much to many people's dismay.
  • You Need to Get Laid: Gojo is sexually repressed because boohoo, he's too paranoid to be intimate with anyone. Tomoe heavily suspects it is being taken out on her, with his mommy issues.
  • Youth Is Wasted on the Dumb: Megumi's soy sauce drinking habit.
