Fanfic / Frozen Hearts (Finmonster)

Go To

Wreck-It Ralph has gotten settled into his new home in the Magic Kingdom. But getting settled has only brought forth that something is missing. Is it just too much time on his hands or is it something else? What will happen when Ralph tries to make the Magic Kingdom a better place in his own way, and what will the repercussions be when a new arrival catches his attention?

Frozen Hearts is a Wreck-It Ralph and Frozen (2013) crossover Fanfic written by Finmonster as a sequel to his earlier fic Like Dreamers Do. In it, Ralph and friends are experiencing new problems in the Magic Kingdom, namely Ralph's friends planning on setting him up with a date. Initially, he's hesitant, but that's before the new film Frozen comes out, and when a certain Snow Queen arrives in the Kingdom with her family, plenty of people are becoming dead-set on putting Wrecker and Queen together...The fic began on July 8, 2015, and can be found here.

Not to be confused with the Hans/Elsa shipping fic of the same name, Frozen Hearts (Sakume).

Frozen Hearts provides examples of:

  • Actor Allusion: Disney characters can sing any song that their actors have ever sung. So, Dodger can sing Only The Good Die Young, Elsa can sing Defying Gravity, and Ralph can sing Mr. Cellophane.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy: Despite being a Disney Villain, Hades is actually quite friendly towards Ralph and other villains, and he's Happily Married to Persephone. He even stands up for Ralph against Loki's taunting.
  • "Be Quiet!" Nudge: Merida steps on Ralph's foot while they're dancing so that he doesn't say the name of her secret boyfriend, Hiccup from Dreamworks.
  • Canon Discontinuity: Averted: the direct-to-video prequels and sequels to Disney films are treated as canon just like the theatrical releases. This was already hinted at in the first story with the presence of Ariel's daughter Melody, but here, it's confirmed by the fact that Drizella is the only one of Lady Tremaine's daughters to still be an evil jerk (after her sister Anastasia defected in Cinderella III: A Twist in Time), and John Smith and Pocahontas are no longer a couple.
  • Crossover: Combines the worlds of Wreck-It Ralph and Frozen (2013).
  • Crossover Couple: Ralph and Elsa are the main pairing. Also, Merida (Brave) is in a secret relationship with Hiccup (How to Train Your Dragon) like in another of Finmonster's fics. Additionally, Loki (Marvel Cinematic Universe) is implied to have a crush on Maleficent (Sleeping Beauty). John Smith (Pocahontas) got together with Charlotte La Bouff (The Princess and the Frog) after breaking up with Pocahontas in Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World. And Vanellope hangs out with Dash Parr (The Incredibles), and eventually receives a kiss from him - the elation of which causes her to undergo an Overnight Age-Up!
  • Death by Adaptation: In Classical Mythology, the Titans were as immortal as the gods, so they were imprisoned, not killed. Here, Hades confirms that Zeus killed their abusive father, Cronos, freeing his consumed siblings from him.
  • Evil Mentor: Maleficent is serving as one of these for Elsa, teaching her to use magic abilities she never used in the films, such as Voluntary Shapeshifting and Flight. What Maleficent hopes to gain from it is uncertain.
  • For Halloween, I Am Going as Myself: Inverted at the start of the story. Sully (Monsters, Inc.) attends a Halloween party as Richard Nixon, because, as he points out, "I have to be a monster all year long, might as well be something different for Halloween."
  • The Friend Nobody Likes: Prince Hans proves to be this for the Disney Villains. Not many of them actually find his presence tolerable. Then again, we don't see this, we only hear Hades reporting it to Ralph.
  • Hidden Depths: Ralph has a beautiful singing voice, as Elsa and friends find out.
  • Huge Guy, Tiny Girl: Ralph and Vanellope are a platonic version. Ralph and Elsa are a romantic version, though it's downplayed. Elsa's not tiny, but anyone would look small compared to Ralph.
  • Hypocrite: Taffyta Muttonfudge calls out Vanellope for befriending Turbo, after he hacked and took over their game, but herself admits that she preferred life when Turbo was in charge and Vanellope was just a glitch.
  • Overnight Age-Up: Vanellope does this after getting a kiss from Dash Parr. She learns to shift between this older form and her younger default form with Elsa's help later on.
  • Plot-Mandated Friendship Failure: Between Vanellope and Turbo, after the above-mentioned calling out from Taffyta Muttonfudge.
  • Shipper on Deck: Vanellope thinks Ralph and Elsa should date. So does Loki.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Of all the Disney Villains, Maleficent is the most skeptical and scornful of Ralph's attempts at reforming the Villains. Mickey Mouse openly tells Ralph that even he doesn't think Ralph can reform Maleficent.
  • Ugly Guy, Hot Wife: Hades is more creepy than ugly, but his wife Persephone(or "Seph" for short) is as beautiful as you'd expect an Olympian goddess to be.
  • Uptown Girl: Lampshaded by Ralph. The main ship is Elsa/Ralph. She's the queen of Arendelle and he lives in a literal dump.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Apparently, Elsa can do this, shifting between her 21-year old self and her 8-year old self from the opening of her film. Maleficent teaches her to do this, and pass it on to Anna, to help Vanellope come to terms with her new older form.
