Alvarez Rewrite provides examples of:
- Adaptational Badass: Several characters were given expanded fights and abilities in the final battle.
- Adaptational Nice Guy: Downplayed as while General Rung never married Irene in this story, he still turned against her because he feared that she will turn out like Acnologia when fully succumbing to Dragonification and that he lost his many soldiers because of Dragon Slayer Magic she created.
- Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In canon, Belserion the Sage Dragon is protector of Irene and her kingdom as he owed her family for saving him. Here, they're married as king and queen of Dragnof. As a result, General Rung was never married to Irene here and Erza is a clone made by Irene instead of being the daughter of that man.
- Adaptation Species Change: In canon, Neinhart is a human. Here, he is actually a rapier who was brought to life by Irene and reverts back to his true form after being defeated by Natsu who finished him off with Crimson Lotus: Exploding Flame Blade.
- Adaptational Superpower Change:
- In canon, August was revealed to use Copy Magic that allowed him to copy the Magics of his opponents and turn it against them hundredfold. Here, he actually studied and mastered every Magic throughout his life. However, he still is unable to counter against Holder-Type Magic which was used against him by Gildarts and Cana who figured it out.
- In canon, Larcade uses Pleasure that affects everyone who's had sex and those who didn't against their will. Here, it was omitted from the Alvarez Rewrite.
- In canon, Acnologia is a Magic Eater that allows him to consume any magic spell thrown at him. Here, he is an Etherious transformed by Zeref as a Call-Back to the canon's Chapter 301 about Arcadios' statement about the rumors of the Black Zeref being involved with the Black Dragon's transformation. Zeref modified Acnologia's Dragonification to grant the latter an internal never-ending source of Ethernano. The drawback is that he cannot consume an element and cannot grow stronger as a result.
- Barrier Maiden: All members of the Spriggan 12 have a Body Link spell on each other called "Spriggan Seal". When two or more members were defeated, the remaining members would be weakened, drastically reducing their strength. However, they are still dangerous and capable of fighting back when need to.
- Butt-Monkey: Downplayed as while God Serena is able to have some moment to shine by holding on his own against Gildarts a bit longer than canon, and actually taking part of the Dragon Slayers' battle against Acnologia to show off the four other elements, he gets unceremoniously defeated by the Black Dragon. Lampshaded by Irene as she cannot help but feel sorry for him.
- Dead All Along:
- In Chapters 31 and 32, Mavis is this all along as it was Fairy Heart itself inhabiting the body of the First Master of Fairy Tail and had her memories and personality. Fairy Heart stated that she thought she was the original Mavis but realized the truth and hid it from everyone in the guild so that it won't affect morale and distract them.
- In Chapter 37, Irene reveals that God Serena was this all along, stating after he died encountering her last month and she made a Historia out of him on Alvarez's side, making it look like he betrayed Ishgar. He was brought back once more to fight Acnologia with all of his eight elements revealed but then got destroyed once more.
- Death by Adaptation: Makarov dies when performing Fairy Law on the Imperial Army but unlike in canon, he stays dead.
- Dies Differently in Adaptation: August dies to Acnologia cutting through him in the middle of casting Spriggan Law compared to canon where he unleashed Ars Magia to take everyone out with him but stopped when watching his mother Mavis in pain and passed away.
- Fix Fic: A rewrite that fixes the issues the author had and to make the story go smoother.
- Glass Cannon: Historias are this according to Irene who explains why they were not durable to tank hits compared to their original flesh and blood counterparts. Acnologia even wonders why God Serena, a Dragon Slayer with 8 elements, went down so easily in contrast with the seven Dragon Slayers who managed to survive his blows.
- Magic Enhancement: Irene boosted the 7 Dragon Slayers with her Enchantments, making them stronger and being able to land powerful hits on Acnologia during battle.
- Must Make Amends: Igneel is revealed to have been the same Dragon who burned down the village that killed Natsu and his parents, and it drove Zeref to research ways to bring back his little brother at the cost of being cursed with Anhskeram Black Magic. Igneel was remorseful of his actions and took the chance to raise Natsu (reborn as E.N.D.) as his atonement and give the boy a second chance of childhood he took away.
- Rival Turned Evil: God Serena is this as he was a rival with Gildarts prior to defecting to Alvarez Empire as one of the Spriggan 12. However, it later turned out that he was killed by Irene last month in Ishgar and then revived as a Historia to be a member of the 12 elite Mages of Alvarez, appearing as if he had defected.
- Small Role, Big Impact: Igneel's cruel act of burning down the village had led to Zeref on the path from a big brother who wanted to bring back Natsu from the dead to the Black Wizard feared by all for 400 years.
- Super-Empowering: As an Enchanter, Irene grants everyone in Fairy Tail and their allies including the Four Gods of Ishgar the ability to use Dragon Slayer Magic to harm Acnologia.
- Spared By Adaptation: Irene manages to survive and aids Fairy Tail and their allies against Acnologia. She even gets to be the new ruler of Alvarez Empire in the epilogue.
- Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: August calls out Crime Sorciere for their lack of teamwork which would be their downfall.
- Weredragon: Irene and Acnologia can assume Dragon forms like their canon counterparts, and Natsu is able to do the same, resembling like his father Igneel in his Dragon form.
