Gods of This New World by BlueWolf1923 is a Death NoteAction AdventureFan Fic in which, with Ryuk and Misa's help, Light kills off the taskforce and persuades L to join him in his cause and they go on to seize control of the world. However L warns them that it's not over—they still have to win against Mello and Near.
Do Not Call Me Paul: Mihael Keehl uses the magic Shinigami artifact, the Name Jewel to change his name to Mello Lightslayer and as Shinigami Light is called Kira and Misa is called Dai-ni.
I Don't Want to Die: Light, even though he has been assured of what will happen to him after death he is in no hurry to die because he has so much workleft to do.
Lock and Load Montage: "Mello, wearing a tinted motorcycle helmet, checked his collection of weapons. A pistol hung on his right hip, and the last Shinigami sword was on his back. In his left hand was the Death Note he had twisted into use against its creators."
Luke Nounverber: Mihael Keehl mystically changes his name to "Mello Lightslayer"
The Man Behind the Curtain: when L's successors come after them L comes forward and claims to be Kira. Later they have Ryuk pretend to be the real Kira.
New Powers as the Plot Demands: The Shinigami King gives Light a white death note that surpasses the 23 day rule and allows one to control someone for up to a year along with the Death Eraser. Later, Mello gets a hold of a magic sword and a special Death Note bound in metal that can even kill Shinigami.
Normally, I Would Be Dead Now: Mello stabs Misa in the chest with a sword. But when Mello threatens Light, she gets up and keeps fighting him anyway.
One Curse Limit: Light writes L's name in the notebook to save him from being killed by Mello. It works because he has a special new notebook in which you can write a cause of death for up to a year in advance and the Death Eraser.
There Is No Kill Like Overkill: "Meanwhile, L had been in a harrier jet overhead… He readied a missile to be fired, and unleashed fiery hell on Mello."
Together in Death: Light and Misa. Subverted. Dai-Ni remembers she loved Kira as a mortal, but she doesn't really care now.
