Just 2 brothers making Japanese horror games.
Straight from their Twitter page.

Chilla's Art is a small independent video game developer founded around 2018 by two Japanese brothers.

The company mainly releases short horror games, some of which are done with PS1-style graphics.

Video games developed by Chilla's Art:

Tropes shared by multiple Chilla's Art games:

  • Always Night: Their games are predominantly set during the dead of night. They typically span the length of said night or in the case of games like The Convenience Store and The Closing Shift, take place during nighttime on several different days.
  • Bland-Name Product: Their works often feature parodies of real-world brands, such as the definitely-not-Starbucks Chilla's Coffee in The Closing Shift, or the CHIEF Coffee machine in Parasocial that's a nod to Suntory's BOSS.
  • Downer Ending: Either this or a Bittersweet Ending at best. Even if a game ends on a decidedly positive note, at least some of the main characters will still be suffering, missing, or dead, and left as is to be eventually forgotten about.
  • The Hero Dies: Most bad endings in Chilla's Art games usually end with the protagonist being murdered by the supernatural force.
  • Multiple Endings: Downplayed. Most of their games have only two endings, a "good" ending (usually a Bittersweet Ending) or a bad ending. Played straight with The Karaoke, where there are 6 endings to find.
  • Nightmare Sequence: In the less supernatural games, these are used to change up gameplay and include more intense scares.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: Games by Chilla's Art typically build suspense by having nothing going on for a while, not even ambient music. Sometimes this is a Red Herring, at others it's an anticipation for a very loud Jump Scare.
  • Notice This: If an item can be interacted with, it will almost always have a small symbol marker hovering above it.
  • Retraux: All of Chilla's Art's works are presented in a very low-resolution style as a homage to PlayStation-era games.
  • Urban Legends: A recurring theme for many of their games, where the plot either concerns an in-universe urban legend (Stigmatized Property), or is based upon traditional Japanese ones (Aka Manto, Hanako, Inunaki Tunnel, etc...).
  • Workplace Horror: Usually, Chilla's Art protagonists are often just regular everymen who stumble into something supernatural or creepy during work/commute.
