Crazy Jealous Guys in Comic Books.

  • Aquaman: The insane Aquaman from Flashpoint becomes obsessed over his not dead Alternate Universe wife Mera in Convergence. Yes... he is jealous of himself.
  • Archie Comics:
    • Moose of Archie Comics is notorious for beating guys to a pulp, or threatening to do so, for as much as asking his girlfriend Midge for the time. Of these guys, only Reggie has ever actually made a move on her. Always Played for Laughs. One 1970s story exaggerates this by having Moose angrily ask Midge why Big Ethel was talking to her. When Midge points out that Ethel's a girl, Moose says, "Duh, well she don't look like no girl I ever saw."
    • In Afterlife with Archie Jason is this towards Cheryl. Yes, his twin sister, and it's not in a Big Brother Instinct way. He gets mad whenever Cheryl mentions Archie and killed Cheryl's puppy when they were younger because on Thanksgiving Cheryl only said she was thankful for her puppy.
  • Astro City: The former hero El Hombre is willing to frame his ex-girlfriend as being a mass murderer simply because he's never forgiven her for marrying someone else.
  • Batman:
    • The Joker can easily become this at times especially towards his beloved Arch-Enemy Batman. He’s jealous of Catwoman for her relationship with Batman, he tortures Lex Luthor for mocking his obsession with the dark knight and in Death of the Family Joker reveals himself to be jealous of the entire Bat-Family for “distracting” his nemesis and plans to take them out of the equation.
      • Joker can also be jealous of Harley Quinn’s other affections since he sees her as his possession. This was evident when he discovered her relationship with Deadshot and sought to punish Harley dearly for betraying him.
    • Two-Face towards Renee Montoya, even learning after she is a lesbian it fuels his desire to ruin her life so all that’s left is him.
    • Bane invokes this towards Talia, as he was almost married to her when Ra’s considered him worthy take over as leader of the League of Shadows. So Bane was stricken to learn Talia loved Bruce (his nemesis) and to add further salt on the wound Batman defeating him caused his marriage to be annulled. Just another reason to break the Bat.
  • ElfQuest: Subverted in the story "Moonshade". Moonshade and Strongbow are lifemates, by the fandom sometimes labelled "the only remotely monogamous couple". In this story, Ahnshen falls in love with Moonshade. Strongbow gets pretty ticked off, to the point of tackling Ahnshen and taking him to task — for beating around the bush rather than getting to the point already.
  • Fables: Prince Brandish is absolutely determined to marry Snow and the fact she’s married with children means nothing to him. Brandish turned Snow’s husband Bigby into glass and shattered him, then made it clear he would murder all of Snow’s children so she could be “pure” again. Thankfully Snow wrecked him in a sword duel shortly after.
  • Fantastic Four:
    • Namor is this over Sue Storm; he has repeatedly kidnapped Sue trying to make her his bride and also tried to kill Reed out of jealousy. Even well after Sue is Happily Married with kids, Namor still gives Sue the Longing Look as her son Franklin notes, though thankfully he’s stopped his kidnapping antics.
    • Doctor Doom has got some strong feelings towards Sue as well, it’s mainly due to his inferiority complex towards Reed that he must have everything his nemesis has including his wife. Doom has numerous times attempted to take Sue away as his own and they’re even married in one Alternate Universe, even when not trying to court Sue to spite Reed, Doom still lauded her as most powerful of the four.
    • Not the first time Doom has been subject to this behavior, he was petty keen on Storm (to the point where he wanted her to be his queen) was furious when she and the X-Men defied him.
  • The Flash: Hunter Zoom aka Reverse Flash is this for Iris West (Barry West’s wife), whom he continuously stalked and harassed for years. He also tried to forcibly marry her by switching places with Barry and eventually killed her saying that if he couldn’t have her, then Barry couldn’t either. However, being comics, Iris was brought back later.
  • Forgotten Realms: The annual has Troggoth, a hulking barbarian who kills any man that tries to flirt with his three wives. Vartan Hai Sylvar makes the mistake of flirting with them while Troggoth is asleep in the next room. When a loud explosion wakes Troggoth up, Vartan is forced to run for his life from the enraged barbarian.
  • Garfield: Garfield's owner Jon frequently ran afoul of guys like this in his failed attempt to hit on girls until he finally hooked up with Liz. In fact, even Liz hinted she once had a boyfriend like this before they started dating.
  • Iron Man: In Iron Man 1998 #47, one of Tony’s armours becomes sentient and becomes possessively in love with him like an abusive boyfriend. It cuts off Tony from The Avengers, causes his then girlfriend Rumiko to break up with him, breaks his arm when he gets into another suit to try and escape and takes him to a deserted island trying convince him they’re perfect for each other and demanding why Tony can’t feel for it “like he did with Ms Rumiko”. It ultimately does sacrifice itself to save Tony’s life however.
  • Raptors: Ronaldo, the ex of Aznar's girlfriend in college, to the point he attempts to kill him by knocking him unconscious into the pool and leaving him to drown, and later breaks into her room in an attempt to rape her, though he is stopped just in time by Aznar.
  • Spider-Man:
    • Miles Warren aka the Jackal from Spider-Man's Rogues Gallery over Gwen Stacy. He became infatuated with her during his time as her teacher and blamed Gwen’s death at hands of the Green Goblin on Spider-Man himself. So he created a clone of Gwen to torment Peter and of course when one of the clones still loved Peter over him, Jackal was further determined to make Spidey’s life hell. The idea that Gwen would never love him or the idea that Peter isn’t responsible for her death never crossed his mind.
    • Jerk Jock Flash Thompson would get very jealous of Puny Parker’s luck with girls such as Liz, Gwen, and MJ. Flash even had a Cock Fight with Peter over Liz, causing her to lambaste both of them. Flash mellowed out greatly in later years and supported all Peter’s relationships.
  • Supergirl:
    • In Supergirl (1972) #2, a friend of Linda Danvers - the titular heroine - made several passes at her even though she was not really interested. Still, he was jealous every time Linda spent time with another guy and behaved as if she was cheating on him despite the fact that they were not together.
    • Powerboy, Kara’s obsessed stalker and ex-boyfriend from Supergirl Identity is a particularly vicious example. He becomes violently possessive of Kara not long into their relationship, with the breaking point being when he gets jealous of Kara’s friendship with Owen Mercer aka Captain Boomerang Jr., beating her up and imprisoning Kara just for visiting Owen in hospital. Thankfully she breaks free and gets revenge with a glorious Groin Attack.
    • H’el dips into this with Supergirl as well. He becomes increasingly obsessed with Kara, calling her his “beloved,” and becomes violent in his attempts to separate her from allies, such as her cousin Clark, whom (out of jealousy) he deems “unworthy” of her. H’el claims during his Villainous Breakdown that all his crimes are done out of purely love for her and Krypton, but Kara has none of it and stabs him in the chest with a shard of Kryptonite.
  • Superman: In Superman: Brainiac, Steve Lombard hits on Lois Lane (even though she has just told him she is married) and Clark Kent surreptitiously burns his chair's leg, making him fall. Lois tries very hard not to laugh out loud.
  • Thanos: Thanos is, of course, a Crazy Jealous Guy over Lady Death, he’ll happily to wipe away half the universe and bring down the cosmic deities all out of insane love for her. Even when Death wants nothing to do with him and actively works against him, Thanos just becomes more determined to win her love. Then Deadpool enters the picture and succeeded in winning her affection, in a fit of jealous rage Thanos cursed Wade to never die so he could keep him away from his beloved.
  • The Ultimates:
    • Hank and Jan's fight starts when Jan is wearing a new dress and asks Pym if she looks nice. He asks, all grumpy, if it's for Rogers' or Stark's benefit, before pointing out Jan kissed Steve just after they beat the Hulk, and that she obviously isn't wearing heels and a push-up bra for Hank's benefit since he's not going to any party. Things go really downhill quickly from there.
    • When Banner calls Betty, having just injected himself with the serum that brings out the not-so-jolly grey giant, she's having lunch with Freddie Prinze Jr. And when he turns into Hulk, he still remembers that. Let's just say that "crazy" is an understatement.
Hulk: HULK WANTS FREDDIE PRINZE JR.!
    • Weaponized by Cap at the end of vol. 1, when he tells Hulk the naked guy (naked alien, actually) is after Betty... all hell breaks loose.
  • Vampirella: Huitzilopochtli, in "The Betrothed of the Sun-God", fries anyone who sets a lecherous eye on Vampirella. However, when Vampi decides not to go with him, he's stand-up enough to let her go.
  • The Wasp: Poor Janet Van Dyne has gotten several of these over the years:
    • The first is David "Whirlwind" Cannon. Working as Janet’s chauffeur he made his move on her when Hank was seemly dead but to his fury she rejected him. He made several attempts to kill Hank and in a later comic he even molested Jan while she was unconscious before being stopped by a ten foot tall and seriously pissed off Henry Pym.
    • Similarly Erik Josten from Marvel Adventures due to his own obsession with Jan, made it look like Hank had disappeared in an attempt to get close to Janet. He failed to woo her and became enraged at Hank’s timely return and desperately tried to kill him so he could have her for himself.
    • In more recent comics Hank being a Fallen Hero unfortunately has become this to Janet himself due to fusing his body and consciousness with Ultron (who incidentally is also obsessed with his “mother”). Ultron-Hank spells it out upon reuniting with his ex-wife saying he knows all about her new relationship with Tony and considers it a “wrinkle” in his schemes. Ironically he’s still not as bad as Ultimate Hank when it comes to Janet.
  • X-Men:
    • Cyclops invokes this more than a few times always when regarding his beloved Jean Grey, he gets jealous of Wolverine getting cozy with Jean, he gets jealous of Mastermind having a thing for Jean, he gets jealous of Jean gushing over Gambit (even jokingly threatening to drop a truck on him) and Scott even gets jealous of freaking Spider-Man for getting two smooches from Jean. In the Age of Apocalypse Bad Future, Scott has even taken off Wolverine’s hand in a fight over Jean.
    • Wolverine himself is prone to jealousy over Jean or Mariko, it dates back to his Dark and Troubled Past where Logan got jealous of his beloved caretaker Rose planning to marry another man. Ultimate Marvel takes this a step further with Wolverine as he attempts to murder Scott so he can have Jean for himself.
    • Similarly Magneto and Gambit dip into this over Rogue as they once had a Cock Fight when Gambit discovered Mags as his younger self Joseph looking into Rogue’s window, Rogue unimpressed put a stop to it immediately. Still, Joseph cannot help but give Gambit and Rogue the Green-Eyed Monster from time to time. Nowadays Magneto is surprisingly fine with Rogue marrying Gambit and supports their union note . Gambit can still get pretty jealous though as when Rogue lightly teased him about kissing Deadpool during their couple therapy, which led to Gambit blowing the shit of Wade when he met him again.
      • Curiously Deadpool admitted he was just as jealous of Gambit getting hitched to Rogue and did his best come in between them in Mr. and Mrs. X.
    • Quicksilver can be a very jealous man, though suspiciously Pietro only gets jealous of his twin sister’s Scarlet Witch’s love interests e.g Vision.
