You have my word.

Cyberpunk 2077: You Have My Word is a graphic novel by Bartosz Sztybor, Jesus Hervas, and Giulia Brusco. It takes place in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, where a young Edgerunner named Oriona is the daughter of Arno and Teresa. Oriona has her own daughter in a little girl named Wayra. The four of them live in the Badlands outside Night City between the Nomads and the statics in a trailer.

Arno is a dedicated Militech veteran who passionately believes that he's taken care of by the megacoporation after surviving to claim his pension. Teresa is a waitress at a local diner that struggles to deal with the disrespect of all the Nomads and city folk passing through. Oriona seeks greater opportunity in Night City only to swiftly get in over her head.

Teresa, furious about her daughter's treatment, proceeds to head into Night City to find the people involved as well as extract revenge. Teresa turns out to have been the legendary Edgerunner known as La Llorona. Old secrets, shames, and revenge are revealed throughout the story as it turns out that nothing is ever really forgotten in Night City.

Only buried.

This comic book provides examples of:

  • Action Girl: Oriona and Teresa are both badass female Edgerunners. Sadly, they never get to work together.
  • All Love Is Unrequited: Alina was Oriona's lover and believes they were going to run away together. It's heavily implied that Oriona was just pumping her for information and never intended to continue with her romantically. Teresa lies and says that Oriona told her about Alina and their plan.
  • Arc Words: "You have my word." It's always used to indicate a person is lying.
  • Big Bad: El Sombreron is the architect of Oriona's murder.
  • Cool Old Lady: Teresa is the former legendary Edgerunner, La Llorona. She's now presently working as a waitress.
  • Continuity Nod: Victor and the No-Tell Motel are mentioned in the comic. It's implied that this story also takes place on the same night as the Konpeki Plaza heist. In addition, the Beat On The Brat competitor "Rhino" makes a cameo as a spotter in a gym.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Militech abandoned Arno after he lost his legs in one of their many battles.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: El Sombreron wants to kill Teresa and her entire family because she abandoned him thirty years ago in order to be with her husband. He's her brother.
  • Downer Ending: Teresa is killed over her daughter's body. El Somberon almost kills her family but is killed by Militech. Arno turns in his daughter's girlfriend, Alina, in order to try to get his pension back. The same pension that doesn't exist and was simply money sent to him by his daughter.
  • Faking the Dead: Teresa, originally known as Maria, faked her death thirty years ago to marry her husband Arno.
  • Foreshadowing: Teresa considers Arno's suggestions to get his daughters to join Militech to be ridiculous and discourages Wayra learning how to use a gun. Arno's pension was a trick by their daughter, if he ever got one, and Teresa struggled to get out of a life of violence herself.
  • Glamorous Single Mother: Oriona is a spuny, beautiful, cool Edgerunner that is also mother of a little girl named Wraya. She has the time to be the former due to the fact that her parents are caring for her daughter.
  • Honey Pot: It's implied that Oriona seduced Alina in order to get Militech information to her Edgerunner team.
  • One-Man Army: Teresa, despite her advanced age, tears through Cormac's mooks in her shoot out with them.
  • Patriotic Fervor: Arno has a flag-waving defensive attitude toward Militech, acting like his service to them was the greatest honor of his life.
  • Revenge by Proxy: El Sombreron killed Oriona in order to hurt her mother, Teresa. He also planned to kill her family even after killing her.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Oriona is killed in the first issue, executed by her own employer.
  • Undying Loyalty: Arno is a fanatic in the service of Militech even though that corporation used him and tossed him away. It results in him turning Alina in to them at the end, which unwittingly saves his life.
