Sky Striker Arc

Kama Nation

    Raye

The 13-year old heroine of the Sky Striker story. Raye is the last human on the planet, born via the discovery of a fertilized human embryo and raised by a surrogate android family on the outskirts of the remnants of Kama. Gifted with incredible talent, a strong heart, and the power of human intelligence and will, Raye readily advances to the front lines when Spectra forces attack, claiming the power of Sky Striker to defend her family and Kama's future.

  • Child Soldier: Raye is only 13 when she decides to take the Sky Striker technology for herself and fight against Spectra.
  • Emotionless Girl: After fighting for two years, she never smiles and just stoically fights. Aileron becomes sad that she is never happy like she used to be.
  • Jumped at the Call: Raye chooses to fight rather than fleeing and leaving her friends behind, resulting in her taking the Sky Striker technology.
  • Kid Hero: Raye took possession of the Sky Striker mecha on her 13th birthday.
  • Last of His Kind: Raye is said to be the last human, born from a preserved human embryo that was only recently discovered.
  • One-Man Army: In two years, she is powerful enough to decimate legions of Spectra robots by herself, almost single-handedly increasing Kama's territory control over the planet from 5% to 70%.
  • Raised by Robots: Raye was raised by robots, the Three Magi AI (Arcus, Ciela, and Himmel) and her "brothers" Aileron and Pylon, since her conception from a fertilized egg. Despite this, said robots are a kind and loving family.
  • Workaholic: Raye is so focused on fighting Spectra and finding a way to free Ciela that she does not think about taking time off for herself. It has gotten to a point that Arcus and Hinmel have to order her to take a break.

    Aileron & Pylon
Featured as: Aileron

  • Big Brother Worship: Both Aileron and Pylon treat Raye like their older sister, even caring for her when she enters combat against Spectra. And when she's scarred by constant years of combat, they're worried about her.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Aileron was first introduced as a V-JUMP promo card to promote the then-upcoming manga release.
  • Death of Personality: In chapter 3, Aileron mourns Pylon's "death". Although his body is intact, Pylon's mind was effectively wiped when the backups were destroyed. It will take a while for Pylon's emotions to return.
  • Robo Speak: The second Pylon talks like this as his emotional circuits haven't fully activated yet.

    The Three Sages of Kama

  • Damsel in Distress: Ciela is kidnapped by the Three Pillars in Chapter 3, subsequently going missing. Raye's goal over two years of fighting is to ultimately bring Ciela home. Chapter 6 reveals that Ciela is alive, but badly damaged.
  • Femme Fatalons: Arcus uses her nails and extends them into spikes when she fights against Solferina.
  • Neat Freak: Ciela is often concerned for Raye's health and will do her best to make sure her place is tidy at all costs. She even uses her broom in combat.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: All three, especially Himmel, are portrayed as this. Hinmel keeps his cool even as Spectra invade Kama and allows Raye to access the Sky Striker technology in the museum.
  • Sole Survivor: Downplayed. By the end of the story, Ciela is the sole living Sage, but the other two still have their bodies intact. Thanks to this, they promise Raye they'll work towards reactivating Himmel and Akash.
  • Stern Teacher: Akash falls under this archetype. She disciplines her students often, but she means well.

Spectra Nation

    Spectra Three Pillars
A trio of robots who lead the nation of Spectra, Kama's archnemesis.
  • Colourful Theme Naming: Solferina is based on a reddish purple color, Cyanos is based on blue, and Zard is based on yellow.
  • Affably Evil: Despite commanding a nation that has virtually achieved world domination, the Three Pillars are surprisingly personable villains. Cyanos in particular serves as the comic relief of the trio, who essentially has the personality of a shy child who gets excited at the most mundane things.
  • Evil Counterpart: As the AI leading Spectra, these three are the antagonistic counterparts to the Three Magi by default. They even raise a human child in the form of Roze.
  • Multi-Armed and Dangerous: Solferina specializes in multi-armed fighting.
  • Noble Demon: Solferina displays the highest sense of honor among the trio, willingly healing Arcus's injuries because she views her as a Worthy Opponent and wishes to have a fair duel with her. She is also the only one who shows visible regret when told to strike down Arcus after she is rendered defenseless by an EMP.
  • Token Mini-Moe: Cyanos, the smallest and least mature member of the trio.

    Roze

Spectra's trump card used to fight against Raye.

  • Colourful Theme Naming: To complete the Spectra theme naming, Roze is named after the red rose.
  • Designer Babies: Roze is a test tube baby raised by the Spectra Three Pillars.
  • Evil Counterpart: Meant by Spectra to be Raye's equal in combat.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: Roze keeps plushies and toys in her room, which is used to hint at her growing humanity.
  • Human Pet: Cyanos refers to her as a pet. However, when Cyanos attempts to assert dominance, she is easily defeated, so she gives up and becomes Roze's lackey.
  • Muscles Are Meaningless: She is shorter and skinnier than Raye, but is stronger and faster, forcing Raye to rely on her Sky Striker devices to even the playing field.
  • Not So Above It All: Roze appears to be The Stoic on the outside, especially when fighting Raye, but later chapters reveal that she has a fondness for plushies and gets really excited when she finds a handheld gaming device.
  • Sdrawkcab Name: Roze's name in katakana is the word "Zero" in reverse.
  • Younger Than They Look: Chronologically, she is only two years old, but her growth was accelerated to make her physically the same age as Raye.

     Azalea and Camellia

A pair of new Sky Strikers that were cloned from Roze's genetic material.

  • Alas, Poor Villain: When they both die, Raye and Roze mourn and bury them.
  • Clone Angst: Azalea hates being a clone of Roze and resolves to take over and prove herself superior.
  • Slasher Smile: In true Yu-Gi-Oh! villain style, Azalea sports one that would make Vector proud during her final battle with Raye and Roze.
  • Turned Against Their Masters: They eventually overthrow the Spectra Three Pillars and declare themselves the rulers.
  • Younger Than They Look: Even more so than Roze considering that both Azalea and Camellia are cloned from the latter.

Magistus Arc

    Crowley

  • Child Prodigy: Aleister Crowley is extremely in tune with magic. He can even give advice to Endymion, letting him win against the corrupted Lopo.
  • Named After Someone Famous: Named after Aleister Crowley.

    Endymion

  • Arbitrary Skepticism: When Crowley researches alternate worlds and spirits, he dismisses it as nonsense, despite Zoroa pointing out much of magic is still unknown.
  • Blow You Away: Endymion can combine his Towering Walls, Fireball, and Double Cyclone spells to create a devastating tornado that can destroy a person's dark magic, purifying them in an instant.
  • Childhood Friends: From a young age, Endymion befriended a household servant named Lopo. Because of Lopo's mother passing away from an illness requiring an expensive cure, Endymion has decided to become Modest Royalty, believing in the concept of equality.
  • The Comically Serious: Despite being the most serious one among the Magistus trio, Endymion has a few comedic moments throughout the manga.
  • Shock and Awe: One of Endymion's spells is Thor Hammer. Crowley notes how weak the spell is because of the many factors involved in casting it properly.

    Rilliona

  • Cute Little Fang: Displays one in a few close up shots, hinting at her immature side and her becoming Verre in the future.
  • Light 'em Up: One of Verre's signature spells is Lacrima of Light, a powerful light-elemental spell.
  • Modest Royalty: Like Endymion, she is of royal descent. Which makes her a princess like her inspiration Cinderella.
  • Mundane Utility: Her use of magic to make tea is mocked by Spoon, as he argues that will make her forget to make tea the regular way. She's offended by that, due to her immaturity.

    Zoroa

  • All of the Other Reindeer: Everyone ostracized him in the past because of his amazing magical power.
  • Broken Pedestal: Despite founding Greybeard with Spoon, Zoroa used the other three Magistus in order to open a portal into another world and gain more power at the same time.
  • Even Bad Men Love Their Mamas: As seen in a flashback, Zoroa cares about his mother and lashed out those who dared to hurt her hairpin until Spoon stopped him.
  • Genius Bruiser: Is shown to have great physical strength and also the brains to become one of the four Magistus.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite lacking empathy most of the time, he genuinely cares about the other three Magistus
  • Playing with Fire: Specializes in flame manipulation.
  • Tragic Keepsake: He kept his dead mother's hairpin. Sadly, some bullies stole it and threw it into the water, making him lose his temper and almost kill them.
