    Rally Dawson

Rally Dawson

Voiced by: Mika Itou (Japanese), Erica Schroeder (English)

A young boy who idolizes Yusei.

  • Barcode Tattoo: The first one shown.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: He sports long hair, has a feminine voice, and wears what's basically a dress. Tag Force 4 drives the point home with Carly mistaking him for a girl, much to Rally's indignation.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: During Yusei's first battle with Rutger, when things begin to go pear-shaped for the Dark Signer, he switches places with Rally. Rather than let Yusei be killed, Rally takes out Uru and his own life points to ensure that Yusei can continue.
  • Not Quite Dead: Twice, sorta. Most victims of the Blask Mist are sacrifice to the Earthbound Immortals, but Rally isn't; instead he is kept around to duel Yusei. After his Heroic Sacrifice, he gets revived.
  • She's a Man in Japan: The Latin American dub switched his gender.

    Saiga (Blister)

Saiga (Blister)

Voiced by: Hidenobu Kiuchi (Japanese), Tom Wayland (English)

A friend of Jin Himuro and a "Jack of all Trades", who helped Yusei reclaim his Deck and D-Wheel from Security after he was freed from the Detention Center. He was once a Tag Riding Champion, but an accident led to his partner Yuji being severely injured. His only memento of his friend is their burnt "Machiner's Sniper" card, which Saiga initially believed was sent to him out of spite. However, Yusei convinces him otherwise. He later sneaks into Satellite to check up on Yusei's friends. After Neo Domino and Satellite are connected, he stays in the Satellite area rather than heading back to his old home.

  • Cynical Mentor: Teaches Yusei about Neo Domino, but seems distasteful of everything there.
  • Noble Fugitive: He does have a good heart, even when being jerked around by Security.
  • Perma-Stubble: Check the image.

    Martha

Martha

Voiced by: Kimiko Saito (Japanese), Veronica Taylor (English)

Yusei's foster mother who runs an orphanage in Satellite, and is regarded as a parental figure by the abandoned children there. She took care of Yusei after he was injured during his first duel with Kiryu, and later encouraged him to go to help Aki. He was reluctant to do so as it probably meant fighting a friend again and the duel with Kiryu had left him with fear and doubt, but Martha knew that this was necessary to open his heart up again. She also played a major role in Ushio's Heel–Face Turn.

    Others

Others

  • Big Creepy-Crawlies: Uryu uses a deck composed of Insect-Type Monsters.
  • Graceful Loser: Uryu has no hard feelings about losing to Yusei, but vows to defeat him someday.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Uryu loses to Yusei thanks to the effect of his own Retribution of the Ant Lion card.
  • The Hyena: Uryu's right-hand man, Shizaki, communicates only with snickering.
  • No Name Given: The two that hang out with Uryu aren't named in the anime itself. Instead, they're given names in the games and in Tag Force 4, where one of them shares Uryu's English name.
  • One-Shot Character: Uryu's only full appearance is in Episode 2; he is much later seen cheering on Yusei during his Duel against Z-ONE.
  • Posthumous Character: Robert Pearson, original owner of the Blackbird and Black-Winged Dragon, was killed by Bolger three years prior.
