Jupiter's Family

    Mathilda Jones
Portrayed by: Catharine Cooke (2007 Film Series), Jördis Triebel (Erbe des Drachen)
Voiced by: Karin Lieneweg (German Radio Plays)
Mathilda Jones, Jupiter's formidable aunt and co-owner of the Jones' Scrapyard.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Jupiter sometimes callers her 'Aunty', or in German, 'Tantechen' (a cute way to say Aunt).
  • Childhood Friends: She and Titus went to school together and had fallen in love then.
  • It's Like I Always Say: Her motto is if there is a boy, he must be put to work. This has gotten in the way many times with the trio's investigations.
  • Mama Bear: When a man tried to threaten Jupiter with a cane during The Dead Man's Riddle, she took the cane from him and chased him out of the Scrapyard. She is also pretty aggressive when it comes to mothering people who she thinks need it.
  • Not Now, Kiddo: Has really no idea how serious the boys are about being detectives and thinks they formed some sort of puzzle club.

    Titus Jones
Portrayed by: Martin Le Maitre (2007 Film Series), Florian Lukas (Erbe des Drachen)
Voiced by: Andreas Beurmann (German Radio Plays, from 1979 to 2015), Rüdiger Schulzki (German Radio Plays, from 2016 to 2022), Erik Schäffler (German Radio Plays, from 2022 to present)
Titus Jones, Jupiter's uncle and owner of the Jones' Scrapyard.
  • Childhood Friends: He and Mathilda went to school together and had fallen in love then.
  • Dub Name Change: Like Jupiter, last name is Jonas in the German release.
  • Not Now, Kiddo: Like his wife, he isn't aware of how serious the boys are about being investigators, but he takes their problems a little bit more seriously.

    Julius and Catherine Jones
Jupiter's deceased parents. They were national competitive ballroom dancers who had perished in a plane crash when Jupiter was just roughly five years old.
  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: They're already dead by the time the first book ever started, having died in a plane crash when Jupiter was five years old.
  • Dub Name Change: Their last names is 'Jonas' in the German release.

    Abernathy Family
Jupiter's maternal family. They don't really have a good relationship with Titus or Mathilda.

Peter's Family

    Henry Crenshaw
Portrayed by: Mark Waschke (Erbe des Drachen)
Voiced by: Eberhard Haar (Die Drei ??? Radio Plays)
Peter Crenshaw's father. He works as a VFX artist who works at 'Wonderworld', a film effects company.
  • A Day In A Limelight: He has a significant role in Erbe des Drachen.
  • Daddy Didn't Show: In Erbe des Drachen he didn't show up to Peter's track race, which seems to disappoint him quite a bit.
  • Dub Name Change: Like Pete, he is referred to as 'Mr. Shaw' in the German release.
  • Not Now, Kiddo: He is aware of the detective shenanigans his son and friends get to, but he isn't really aware how serious they are, though post-Crimebusters, he has started disapproving of their ventures on account of how much danger they get into.

    Mrs. Crenshaw
Voiced by: Heikendine Körting (Die Drei ??? Radio Plays)
Wife to Henry Crenshaw and mother to Peter Crenshaw.
  • Calling the Old Man Out: She is seen calling out her father periodically, who she thinks as a little nutty. Apparently she and her husband constantly quarrel with her father and she can't stand him sometimes.
  • Dub Name Change: Like Pete, she is referred to as 'Mrs. Shaw' in the German release.
  • No Full Name Given: Her first name isn't known, but we do know her maiden name is 'Peck' by virtue of her father, Bennington Peck.
  • Not Now, Kiddo: Like most of the parents and guardians in the series, she wasn't really aware of how serious her son was about being a detective. Post-Crimebusters, she constantly worries about her son's safety and would rather him go surfing or practice sports than do detective work.
  • So Proud of You: She was noted to be very proud of her son after she hears how he had escaped captivity in Späte Rache.

    Bennington Peck
Peter Crenshaw's maternal grandfather. A gruff, but friendly old man who is quite the tinkerer. He doesn't have a great relationship with his daughter or son-in-law, but dearly loves his grandson and his friends.
  • Affectionate Nickname: Just known as 'Ben' by close friends.
  • Grandparent Favoritism: Ben definitely does favor Peter, even over his own daughter sometimes, despite the fact that Pete tends to worry as much as his mother does. He has bought trips and the like for his grandson and is always happy to see Peter and his friends.
  • Cool Old Guy: Does seem that way, especially after his first appearance. His inventions have even been implemented in NASA.
  • Mad Scientist: Does come off as one, especially with his inventions, though is typically very friendly, especially with his grandson.

    Shadow the Dog
A dog that Pete had adopted during his time when he was kidnapped in Späte Rache. A very handsome dark Irish Wolfhound. He originally lived with Jupiter at the scrapyard but kept running away to Peter's house. He now lives with Peter's Aunt Ruth on a farm in Montana.
  • A Day in the Limelight: He has a pretty big part in Dreckiger Deal.
  • A Boy and His X: These two are very close despite the distance. Jupiter described Peter and Shadow having one soul. Peter apparently tries to visit his dog as much as he can.
  • Big Friendly Dog: He may stand half the height of Pete, but he's very friendly and had instantly bonded with Pete upon meeting him.
  • Intellectual Animal: Shadow is almost unusually intelligent. He completely obeys Pete and seems to understand human speech, even complex ones like 'throw a rock at this specific time in that direction'.
  • Just Whistle: In Späte Rache, as Shadow doesn't know his name yet, he can be called by Peter by just whistling. By the events of Dreckiger Deal he understands his name now, but still responds to Peter's whistle.
  • Mysterious Past: It is really clear where Shadow came form, whether he was a stray dog that just happened to run into the cabin Peter was being held hostage in or whether or not he belonged to Brady.
  • They Have the Scent!: He was used in this manner during Dreckiger Deal to sniff for drugs and to track down Laura McLaughin.

    Grandmother Crenshaw
Peter Crenshaw's paternal grandmother and Henry Shaw's mother. A very superstitious woman.
  • The Ghost: She was mentioned only once, but is confirmed to be alive.
  • In the Blood: According to her son, Henry Shaw, she is a very superstitious woman, a personality trait that had skipped his generation and got transferred down to Pete, who is also very superstitious.

Bob's Family

    John Andrews
Bob Andrew's father. A compassionate and gentle man who works as a journalist at 'Rocky Beach Today'.
  • In the Blood: His son has his journalism skills and wants to become a journalist just like him when he grows up.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Mr. Andrews' job.
  • Overly Long Name: He has four first names; his full name is: John William Melvin Roger Andrews. He just goes by 'John Andrews' understandably.
  • Not Now, Kiddo: Didn't take Bob and his friends seriously about the whole detective thing at first. But post-Crimebusters, while he doesn't enjoy the Investigators' shenanigans, he has begun to take them a bit more seriously and trusts his son to make good judgement.

    Mrs. Andrews
Voiced by: Renate Pichler / Carola Long / Constanze Ullmer (Die Drei ??? Radio Plays)
Bob Andrew's mother. A slim, brown-haired woman who works as a Real Estate agent.
  • No Full Name Given: It's unknown what her first name or her maiden name is.
  • Not Now, Kiddo: Like most of the parents and guardians in the series, she wasn't aware how serious the boys are about their detective work. Post-Crimebusters, she and all the other parents are worried constantly for the health and safety of her son.

    Mary
Voiced by: Marion Gretchen Schmitz
Bob's maternal cousin from a small town in Woodfield, Seattle and the d

    Rosie Wrenrick
Voiced by: Gerlinde Dillge
Mrs. Andrews' great aunt who lives in the quiet town of Nothing.
  • Down on the Farm: She owns a farm in Nothing where she manages it with the Wrenrick side of the family. Her great grandchildren often come to help out.

    Brian and Ashlynn
Bob's distant cousins. They sometimes come to their Great Aunt's farm during the summers to help out.
