Rainbow
The host of The Color Competition Series.
- Game Show Host
- V-Sign: Does this for their official character pose.
TV
The co-host who mainly hosts when it comes to eliminations.
- A Dog Named "Cat": While it is not an animal, it's a computer monitor that is named "TV".
- Non-Indicative Name: TV isn't actually what they look like, instead they're more of a computer monitor. This is the only main character here not to be named after something they resemble.
- Second Episode Introduction: TV never appears in any first episode in each season.
Grayscale
The mysterious entity appearing to be more of a background character than a staff member.
- Walking Spoiler: This character has no sign of foreshadowing until it appears in the last episode of the first season.
Crayola Logo
The substitute host for the first season for only when Rainbow gets exhausted.
- Chuck Cunningham Syndrome: He's been retired after going home to his headquarters.
- Second Episode Introduction: Much like TV, Crayola Logo doesn't appear in the first episode.

Main colors
Black
A black-colored circle.
- Jerkass: Generally not a nice person to be around.
Blue
A blue-colored circle.
- Nice Guy: Pretty much a nice person, even cares for his offsprings.
Brown
A brown-colored circle.
- Took a Level in Cynic: Downplayed. Brown used to be a scaredy person, but still.
Gray
A gray-colored circle.
- Do Not Call Me "Paul": In Color Overload, he didn't like being called "Grey", his British English name. Zigzagged if the subtitles were British English.
- Gloomy Gray: He's not a very happy individual, at least most of the time.
Green
A green-colored circle.
- Cool Shades: Often wears his sunglasses.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: While he may be a jerk to some people, there's no denying that he's also a nice person.
Orange
An orange-colored circle.
- Meaningful Name: He claims to have his name coming from a citrus fruit.
Pink
A pink-colored circle.
- Pink Means Feminine: Has a feminine design.
Purple
A purple-colored circle.
- Hot-Blooded: Not quite but can get angry when it comes to certain relationships.
- Mood-Swinger: Can turn from calm to extremely angry at the point.
Red (Medium Red)
A red-colored circle, who may not be the same Red as the other.
- Decomposite Character: Medium Red looks closer to the main red by color, while Bright Red was closer by name.
Red (Bright Red)
A red-colored circle, who may not be the same Red as the other.
- Decomposite Character: Bright Red was originally called just "Red" in Color Overload, but changed to "Bright Red" as there are coincidentally two reds in the series.
White
A white-colored circle.
- Inexplicably Identical Individuals: One of the TCCS comic strips reveal that there is more than one White.
- The Quiet One: Has never spoken. Up until BFRL, that is.
Yellow
A yellow-colored circle. Also appears in Super Object RPG as a party member.
- Ambiguous Gender: Though referred to as a female in the first season, their gender is the most ambiguous of the 11 basic colors.
Season 1 (Color Overload contestants)
Apricot
An apricot-colored circle.
- Second Episode Introduction: Apricot did not appear in the first episode, unlike the other contestants in the first season.
Cream
A cream-colored circle.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: Was the first contestant eliminated from Color Overload, the first season of TCCS.
Cyan
A cyan-colored circle.
- Demoted to Extra: Cyan was originally the protagonist of TCCS, but the series now focuses many other colors, not just Cyan.
Fuchsia
A fuchsia-colored circle.
- Pink Means Feminine: Not only that, but she also wears a bow.
Light Gray
A light gray-colored circle.
- Flight: Is capable of flying, as seen in the first episode.
Lavender
A lavender-colored circle.
- Adaptational Personality Change: Was a sad person in season 1, but is more sarcastic in later appearances.
- Deadpan Snarker: Is a sarcastic individual.
Lemon
A lemon-colored circle.
- And You Were There: Based on one of the contestants from When Objects Works.
Lime
A lime-colored circle.
- And You Were There: Based on one of the contestants from When Objects Works.
Magenta
A magenta-colored square, who was originally a circle.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Magenta was originally a circle in Color Overload like many other contestants, but is now changed to changed to a square for some reason.
Maroon
A maroon-colored circle.
- Berserk Button: Making unfunny jokes in front of him would be a bad idea.
- The Big Guy: One of the tallest color characters of the series.
Mint
A mint-colored circle.
- Ambiguous Gender: While TV consistently refers to Mint using female pronouns, later installments refer to them as nonbinary.
Teal
A teal-colored circle.
Season 2 (Hue Assembly contestants)
Amber
An amber-colored circle.
- Composite Character: Amber and Yellow-Orange were originally going to be two separate characters, but Amber is a color between Yellow and Orange.
Beige
A beige-colored circle.
- The Ditz: Beige generally lacks intelligence, unlike the other contestants in the second season.
- Inconsistent Coloring: Beige's earlier design was a light shade of orange.
- Light 'em Up: Has a light-based ability called the "Beige Splasher".
Light Blue
A light blue-colored circle.
Dark Blue
A dark blue-colored circle.
Charcoal
A round burnt chunky piece of wood.
- Mellow Fellow: Despite being named after a fuel, he's rather a pretty calm individual.
Chartreuse
A chartreuse-colored circle.
- An Arm and a Leg: Their right arm was knocked off by an unspecified entity that was already killed.
- Armless Biped: Subverted. Only Chartreuse's left arm is shown.
- Composite Character: Chartreuse and Yellow-Green were originally going to be two separate characters, but Chartreuse is a color between Yellow and Green.
- Energy Weapon: Has a laser ability called the "Chartreuse Spark".
Chocolate
A chocolate-colored square.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Is apparently a square for some reason.
- Sixth Ranger: Becomes a subsequent competitor in the second season.
Crimson
A crimson-colored circle.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Appeared briefly in Color Overload's fifth episode alongside Malachite before their official debut in Hue Assembly.
Ebony
An ebony-colored square.
- Armless Biped: Was initially going to be this, but was later dropped.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Is not only a square, but also has white eyes.
Dark Gray
A dark gray-colored circle.
- Visual Pun: Resembles a heavy metal ball, and is quite heavier than the other contestants.
Indigo
An indigo-colored circle.
- The Eeyore: He's a melancholic color character.
- Expy: Of Blueberry from Inanimate Insanity.
Ivory
An ivory-colored circle.
- Shock and Awe: Has the electric-type power which is named after an ability from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
Lilac
A lilac-colored square.
- Decoy Leader: Decides to step down as Team Vanilla's leader since she didn't want to manage the team.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Is apparently a square for some reason.
Mahogany
A mahogany-colored circle.
- Absurdly Sharp Blade: Has a sharp blade called the "Mahogany Blade", that can cut down for up to 400.
Malachite
A malachite-colored circle.
- Early-Bird Cameo: Appeared briefly in Color Overload's fifth episode alongside Crimson before her official debut in Hue Assembly.
Mauve
A mauve-colored circle.
Navy
A navy blue-colored circle.
- Do Not Call Me "Paul": Usually prefers to be called "Navy Blue" or just "Navy" for short.
- We Hardly Knew Ye: Was the first contestants eliminated from Hue Assembly, the second season of TCCS.
Olive
An olive-colored circle.
- Sixth Ranger: Was going to be the 25th contestant of the first season, but was later cut. However, they instead decided to join the second season.
Plum
A plum-colored circle.
Dark Purple
A dark purple-colored circle.
- Out of Focus: She probably shows up the absolute least in the second season aside from the subsequent competitors.
Rose
A pinkish rose circle.
- Decomposite Character: Rose and Pink are separate characters, and are somehow distinguished by their similar names.
- Flower Motifs: Has a red rose on her head and her body color is a pinkish rose.
- Pink Means Feminine: She has a feminine design.
Scarlet
A scarlet-colored circle.
- Embarrassing Nickname: She prefers not to be called by her name with an extra T in her name.
Silver
A silver ball.
- The Smart Guy: Is pretty smart, especially when it comes to chemistry.
Strawberry
A strawberry-colored circle.
- Sixth Ranger: Becomes a subsequent competitor in the second season.
Tan
A tan-colored circle.
- Inconsistent Coloring: His earliest concept was much more pale.
- Nice Guy: Generally a kind person to others.
- Stealth Pun: He uses a shield ability to prevent any attacks against him.
Turquoise
A turquoise-colored circle.
- Armless Biped: Inverted. Turquoise doesn't have legs, though she was originally going to have them.
- Inconsistent Coloring: Turquoise's earlier design was a more medium blue.
Vanilla
A vanilla-colored circle.
- Sixth Ranger: Becomes a subsequent competitor in the second season.
Vermillion
A vermillion-colored square.
- Inconsistent Spelling: Vermilion is the main spelling of this color, but the color's name is sometimes spelt Vermillion.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Is a square because of his design from another earlier appearance.

Cobalt
A blue-colored cobalt ingot.
Gunmetal
A dark gray bar of metal.
- And You Were There: Based on one of the contestants from Battle for Insanity.
Ice
A cube of ice, formerly a ball of ice.
- Expy: Based on Ice Cube from Battle for Dream Island.
- Eyes Always Shut: Though not in the earlier appearances.
Primrose
A purple-colored triangle.
- Non-Standard Character Design: Is a triangle for some reason.
Sunglow
A yellow radiant sun-like circle.
- Armless Biped: Inverted. Sunglow doesn't have legs.
- Composite Character: It was going to have a separate character named "Sunny". They eventually merged into one character.
Tangerine
A tangerine-colored circle.
- And You Were There: Based on one of the contestants from When Objects Works.
Violet
A violet-colored square. They may or may not be the same character as Purple.
- Decomposite Character: Purple and Violet used to be the same color character.
