Sole Survivor
"I am not a good man."
Sole Survivor of Vault 111.
  • Ace Custom: He owns a suit of X-01 Power Armor customized with a Railroad-themed paintjob, floodlights in the helmet, and heavier load-bearing servos, as well as a targeting HUD.
  • Anti-Villain: He claims to be a bad person, and is actively aiding the villains, but seems to take no particular joy in killing or completing his superiors' objectives, and seems more focused on returning to the Commonwealth than the morality of his actions.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: He earned the rank of General of the Minutemen by storming The Castle, and has more than his share of badass credentials.
  • Bad Liar: Every lie he tells is almost immediately called out as such. Eventually, he stops trying.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: For a given definition of evil, anyhow:
    • He finds rape and sexual assault utterly abhorrent, and actively goes out of his way to make anyone who tries it in his presence suffer.
    • He has trouble bringing himself to hurt children, and even when forced to fight them, is unable to commit himself to a kill. This, combined with his lack of Aura, makes him easy pickings for Ruby during the Beacon infiltration.
  • Functional Addict: He's no stranger to chems, and at the start of the story is hooked on Med-X, Calmex, and Psycho. By the end of the prologue he's forced to quit due to his chems being confiscated for study by the Atlesian military. His faculties are seemingly unimpaired, so long as he's high on something. He was even like this before the bombs fell, keeping a stash of Med-X in his home at all times.
  • I Call It "Vera": Played with. While some of his weapons have names, he never refers to them as such outside of his own thoughts.
  • Lightning Bruiser: He's a big man that hits hard and moves surprisingly quick while under the influence of chems. Without them, he loses out on a lot of his mobility.
  • The Lost Lenore: Danse was this to him, and Nora before him. Downplayed in Nora's case, as Wayne found closure regarding her during his time in the Wasteland, and remembers her fondly without dwelling on her death.
  • Manly Gay: More 'manly homoflexible', but he has a noted preference for men, and finds Qrow attractive.
  • Mighty Glacier: Even without chems, he has a high pain threshold. With them, he's able to tank a direct blow from Crescent Rose into his shoulder, and is able to walk under his own power after being kneecapped by Ironwood after only just having gained an Aura, without treating the wound.
  • Older Than They Look: He's 36 years old physically, but due to being put in cryogenic suspension in Vault 111, he's chronologically almost 250 years old.
  • Outside-Context Problem: For Ozpin and Ironwood. Wayne is a far more experienced combatant than any other active threat in Vale, has access to combat drugs and weapons technology completely foreign to Remnant, has absolutely no recorded history or documentation, which makes him a nightmare to track, and is shown to be capable of killing multiple Atlesian soldiers and downing an Atlesian Airship singlehandedly by storming the cockpit and sending it on a collision course with the ground. And he'd only just gotten an Aura around the time of the latter.
  • Shell-Shocked Veteran: A veteran of the Resource Wars, specifically the Alaskan Front, not to mention the events of Fallout 4, which include fighting both The Institute 'and' the Brotherhood in open warfare. As shown by his behavior, mentality, and chem dependency, it's taken a toll on him.
  • Sixth Ranger: Ends up becoming this to Cinder's operation, with a touch of The Brute.
  • Unusually Uninteresting Sight: He is mostly unfazed by the comparatively peaceful and advanced Vale, in contrast to Liam, and barely reacts to the Faunus with more than a passing comparison to Synths.
     Liam O'Ryan

Lone Wanderer
"No more secrets, and I'm in. Start from the top."
Savior of the Capitol Wasteland.
  • Batter Up!: Never seen without his trusty baseball bat.
  • Berserk Button: Being lied to or left out of the loop. God help you if you're hiding something from him and don't face the music quick.
  • Black and Nerdy
  • Hell-Bent for Leather: Wears the Tunnel Snakes jacket gifted to him by Butch DeLoria over his Vault Suit.
  • Fighting Irish: Of Irish descent on his father's side, and plenty fiery.
  • Fish out of Water: Unlike Wayne, he's surprised by how advanced and peaceful Vale is, and goes out of his way to experience the commodities the Wasteland no longer has, such as cars, public transit, and television. He takes to it surprisingly well.
  • Genius Bruiser: Despite his Boisterous Bruiser tendencies, he's extremely intelligent. He's a capable Wasteland medic and tinkerer, and no slouch in a fight, either, though not nearly as strong or skilled as Wayne.
  • Hyperspace Arsenal: An unusual example; due to the teleporter aboard Mothership Zeta being damaged, Liam cannot return to the ship nor the Capitol Wasteland. However, activating the teleporter causes random objects from around the ship to end up on Remnant. At first, it's odds and ends such as Microfusion Cells and wrenches. When Somah realizes what's happening, she starts sending him more useful items, including weapons, chems, and a suit of T-51b Power Armor
  • Unskilled, but Strong: Despite not having Aura and having little knowledge of how to fight them, he takes out a not-insignificant number of Grimm during the Breach with his bat and pistol.

RWBY Characters

    Clair DeLune
A mouse Faunus who Wayne meets during his first days on Remnant, and a member of the White Fang.
  • Damsel in Distress: Is introduced being savagely beaten by a trio of human supremacists.
  • Emotion Bomb: Her Semblance, 'Subdue', suppresses emotions in an area around her in a similar fashion to Lie Ren's. Hers does not require any sort of physical contact with those she's suppressing, but can only cover a very small area around her. Liam's continued agitation at Ozpin while she's using her Semblance is the first hint that Earth humans are resistant to psychoaffective Semblance's effects.
  • Exposition Fairy: Explains to Wayne just what the situation is on Remnant, and his place in it as an ally of the White Fang. She also explains to him how Aura works.
  • Hidden in Plain Sight: One of the applications of her Semblance. Her ability to put people at ease allows her to move around restricted areas more easily, as her Semblance reduces the stress and tension of those near her, making them less suspicious.
     Adam Taurus
A bull Faunus and the leader of the White Fang.
     The White Fang Lieutenant
A bull shark Faunus who Wayne meets after allying himself with the White Fang.
     Roe
A deer Faunus who Wayne meets after allying himself with the White Fang.
  • Bit Character: Along with Grei, he's the one who reveals that radiation damages Aura.
  • The Generic Guy: Doesn't appear to hold any particular role in the White Fang.
     Grei
A cricket Faunus who Wayne meets after allying himself with the White Fang.
  • Bit Character: Along with Roe, she's the one who reveals that radiation damages Aura.
  • The Medic: Seems to fulfill this role for the White Fang, seeing as she's sent to ensure Wayne is in good health after he escapes Atlesian custody.

     Roman Torchwick
A criminal mastermind affiliated with Cinder.
     Neo Politan
Roman's mute second and bodyguard.
     Mercury Black
One of Cinder's henchmen, son of assassin Marcus Black.
     Emerald Sustrai
One of Cinder's henchmen, a former thief.
    Cinder Fall
A mysterious woman who recruits Wayne to assist her with infiltrating Beacon Academy.
