Gallus Tadius
A ghost of a military genius who haunts Lucius Tadius. He eventually possesses him in order to protect Lucca from Valpetra.Tropes applying to Gallus:
- Drill Sergeant Nasty: Gallus drills the men of Lucca relentlessly during the siege, hoping to turn them into a fighting force that might stand a chance against Valpetra's army.
- Famed In-Story: He was an infamous & successful condottiere, to the degree that he is well-known a couple generations after his death.
- Familial Body Snatcher: Takes over the body of his great-grandson Lucius.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: No matter how rude and insulting he is, he truly cares about Lucca and is willing to die a second time to protect it from its enemies.
- The Sleepless: Since he is a ghost, Gallus Tadius doesn't require sleep. His host, Lucius, does & going without sleep begins to take its toll on him. Imriel challenges Gallus to a duel on the condition that he'll let Lucius get some sleep if he loses.
- Taking You with Me: Does this to a flood by opening a portal to the Underworld & diverting the water there before returning to the Underworld himself.

A Caerdicci nobleman of the city-state of Lucca who Imriel befriends while in Tiberium. He studies alongside Imriel under Master Piero's tutelage. He at first seems like a jerkass, but Imriel soon discovers that there's more to him than meets the eye.Tropes applying to Lucius:
- Arranged Marriage: Lucius is expected to wed Helena Corregio someday to prevent Lucca from falling into Valpetra's hands. Though Lucius is conflicted about it, he eventually does it.
- Demonic Possession: Is possessed by the ghost of his great-grandfather, Gallus Tadius.
- Gayngst: Lucius has a lot of angst regarding his sexuality. Justified in that Caerdicca Unitas is not as open & accepting of homosexuality as Terre d'Ange is.
- Possession Burnout: Being possessed by Gallus Tadius takes its toll on Lucius, who goes extended periods of time with no sleep.

Lucius' sister, and the wife of senator Deccus Fulvius. She is secretly in the employ of the Unseen Guild.Tropes applying to Claudia:
- Fiery Redhead: She's a redhead with a rather feisty personality.
- Mal Mariée: Being married to a much older man leads her to seek out young men to satisfy her.
- May–December Romance: She is married to the significantly older Deccus Fulvius.
- The Mentor / Sexy Mentor: Acts as Imriel's mentor in the ways of the Unseen Guild while carrying on an affair with him.
