Movie Characters (SPOILERS!)

    Pantagruel

Pantagruel

Voiced by: Minami Tanaka (JP)

A cheerful golem girl who yearns for companionship.

  • Chuunibyou: She tends to pose and speak dramatically when talking to others, even in simple conversation.
  • Connected All Along: She is a creation of the Head Researcher from the KonoSuba world, who was notorious for creating countless destructive golems and founding the Crimson Magic Clan. This is the reason why Pantagruel gets along incredibly well with Megumin the moment they met.
  • Last of His Kind: She is the last survivor of her world, which was devastated centuries ago.
  • MacGuffin: Two of them. Pantagruel's eyepatch is the key to activating the portal to other worlds while Pantagruel herself is the only one who can control the golem that devastated her world, at the cost of her freedom.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name is taken from a series of French satire novels about a pair of giants and their misadventures.
  • Ridiculously Human Robots: She is quite emotional and sensitive, feeling bad for lying to Vera about being able to return to her world yet wanting her to stay.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: Played with and defied. She willingly sacrifices herself to stop the massive golem that originally destroyed her world, entering its left eye and commanding it to shut itself down. At the last moment, Kazuma used his "Steal" technique to extract Pantagruel from the golem's eye, freeing her.
  • Sad Clown: She was all alone in her world for three centuries, with only non-sentient golems for company. Under her happy, dramatic exterior is a girl who is terrified of being alone again.

    Alec

Alec Hoshin

Voiced by: Toshiyuki Morikawa (JP)

A gentle and wise middle-aged man.

  • Bait-and-Switch: Subaru thinks Alec didn't have a very happy life in his own world, which to be fair he had reason to think this considering Vera's Dark and Troubled Past. But it turns out Alec was actually very content in his old life, having a family back home.
  • Classy Cane: He walks with a pronounced limp, aided by an ornate cane.
  • Connected All Along: Just before the cast of Isekai Quartet leave through the portal, Alec reveals his last name to be Hoshin. This could mean that he is a relative of Anastasia Hoshin, one of Emilia's rivals in her world's royal selection.
  • Cool Old Guy: He acts as a source of calm wisdom for both Pantagruel and Vera. Alec is not above a little humor himself, but he knows when to be decisive and serious when the situation calls for it.
  • Easily Forgiven: He couldn't bring himself to hate Pantagruel for lying about there being no way for him to return home, knowing that she had been lonely for centuries and just wanted some company. If anything, he sympathizes with her for being a little selfish.
  • Hope Bringer: He states that Pantagruel was this for him, having fallen into despair upon being torn away from his family and unceremoniasly dumped into an empty world. In turn, he decided to be this for Pantagruel.
  • I Choose to Stay: Despite being happy in his original world, Alec chose to stay with Pantagruel in order to give her the companionship she longed centuries for.
  • Secret-Keeper: He knew about Pantagruel's secrets but kept quiet for her sake until it was necessary to reveal them.

    Vera

2nd Lieutenant Vera Mitrohina

Voiced by: Nana Mizuki (JP)

A young woman wearing a familiar military uniform.

  • Connected All Along: She was originally from the Youjo Senki world, where she worked as a spy for the Unified States.
  • Devious Daggers: The only weapon she still has from her world is a knife, which she draws when threatening someone. As a former spy with a grudge, Vera is quite cunning and ruthless when she decides on a course of action.
  • Everyone Has Standards: As much as she hated Pantagruel for lying to her about there being no way to return home, she still thought of her as a friend and never wanted anything bad to happen to her. When she learns that returning requires Pantagruel's sacrifice, she's devestated and realizes that she's gone too far in her hatred.
  • Freudian Excuse: When the World War began, Vera and her family faced constant prejudice and suspicion from their neighbors and former friends. Blaming the Empire for her misery, Vera joined the Unified States military as a spy, using her fluency in the Imperial language to infiltrate the Empire. After coming to Pantagruel's world, she eventually tried to find a way to transport that world's golems to her own world, hoping to use them to destroy the Empire.
  • I Choose to Stay: After realizing that she was now with true friends who didn't care about where she came from, Vera decided to stay in Pantagruel's world.
  • Immigrant Parents: She was born in the Unified States to parents who emigrated from the Empire.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: She blames the Empire, as a nation, for the prejudice her family had to endure in the States. She's clearly oblivious to the fact that the Empire wasn't the one who actually started the war and is mostly just defending itself from the countries around. This is justified, as she resided in a nation whose leaders were deeply paranoid of the Empire's growing strength, so they, of course, would distort the information given to the people in order to gain popular support.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: After releasing a massive golem in a rushed attempt to return to her own world and destroy the Empire, Vera finally realizes the consequences of her hatred and ruthlessness, blaming herself for Pantagruel's sacrifice.
  • Noble Demon: While she hated the Empire and everyone associated with it, and sought to wipe them out, she offered to allow Ainz and Kazuma to return to their world, even though she knew they were friends with Tanya. This is because they agreed to a temporary alliance, and they did help her in accomplishing her goal.
  • Shadow Archetype: To Mary Sue from Youjo Senki.
    • Both are young women who hate the Empire with a passion and would stop at nothing to see it destroyed. Unlike Mary, Vera finds true friendship and eventually learns to appreciate it, allowing her to find happiness that Mary never does.
    • Also, Vera is clearly unaware of the circumtances behind the reason why the world has pretty much united to fight against the Empire, and she was led to believe that the Empire was the actual agressor. Mary knows that her nation was the one who actually started the war, but is still adamanant that the Empire is anything but evil.
  • Shut Up, Kirk!: She stubbornly refuses to listen to reason and remains obsessed with returning to her world until her actions almost cost Pantagruel's life.
  • Villain Respect: Inverted, since Tanya is a Villain Protagonist. Originally Vera hated Tanya since she represented all the evils of the Empire. But once she sees just how human Tanya can be and how much she cares for both her unit and her classmates, as well as seeing Pantagruel as a being with free will rather than a programmed machine, the two part ways with a respectful salute. Tanya even calls Vera by her rank of lieutenant.
