Inferno Girl Red

     In general
"The burning hope of light in the dark."
A superhero identity that is summoned with a bracelet and the phrase "Inferno Ignite!"
  • By the Power of Grayskull!: "Inferno Ignite!", and apparently the yelling is mandatory.
  • Flight: Energy wings akin to a dragon's are part of the powers.
  • Playing with Fire: Both Inferno Girls can shoot energy flames shaped like dragons.
  • Red Is Heroic: Red is obviously their primary colour, and both of them are straight-up heroes, in contrast to the less heroic Radiant Black (Marshall's version, anyway) and very anti-heroic Rogue Suns.

Inferno Girl Red I (Cássia's Predecessor)

Doctor Janine Caro

Alias: Inferno Girl Red

First Appearance: Inferno Girl Red Book One (November 2022)

Doctor Janine Caro is a world-famous engineer and the person who started up Helix Campus. However, she was also secretly the first Inferno Girl Red, a superhero who was active during Ana Costa's career. Not many people believe she existed, but Ana frequently wrote about her and was an acquaintance of hers.
  • The Ace: A famous and rich engineer who becomes the de facto leader of the city once it's transported away, and she was the previous IGR.
  • Good Wears White: Her outfit is predominantly white and she's also presented as a straight-up superhero in contrast to the more reluctant Cássia.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: We're introduced to her making a tickets joke when a monster attacks the train. Cássia finds it embarrassing.
  • Secret Identity: Janine kept the fact that she was the first IGR secret even well past her career, with apparently nobody ever finding out.
  • Secret-Keeper: Thanks to her monitoring of Apex City once it shifts dimensions, she very quickly learns that Cássia is the new Inferno Girl Red. However, she doesn't tell Cássia, thanks to people being around, but subtly wishes her luck.
  • Shrouded in Myth: Despite being a superhero, she was never proven to exist, causing issues for Ana Costa when she tries to find more work as a reporter.

Inferno Girl Red II (Cássia Costa)

Cássia Costa

Alias: Inferno Girl Red

First Appearance: Supermassive #1 (February 2022)

Cássia Costa grew up poor with her mother, hearing stories about Inferno Girl Red. When Cássia wins entrance to Helix Campus, she and her mother move to Apex City so Cássia can make something of herself and follow her dream. However, that same day, the city is plucked from its foundations and sent to another dimension, with monsters invading soon after. Luckily, Cássia gains the powers of Inferno Girl Red just in time to save her new home.
  • Badass Bookworm: Cássia great in a fight and is smart enough to be accepted into the best school on the continent.
  • Fish out of Water: Cássia is unfamiliar with "our" Earth when she ends up chasing a monster across dimensions. Marshall has to run her through some things.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Cássia isn't yet able to use the Dragon Blast power, despite trying twice and being told what to do by her mother.
  • Nice Girl: She's the nicest of the Supermassive trio, since Radiant Black (Marshall) is kind of a glory hound and sarcastic, while Rogue Sun (Marcus Bell) is an outright douche.
  • Refusal of the Call: After saving her roommate with her newly attained powers, Cássia wants nothing to do with the powers and wants her mum to help her remove them.
  • Scarf of Asskicking: Her Inferno Girl outfit comes with a red scarf.
  • Secret Identity: Like her predecessor, Cássia has one... but unlike Janine's, it's poorly kept. By the end of Book One, the only named character who doesn't know is Thomas.
  • Super Mode: Inferno Girl Red Blazing, a form she gains at the end of Book One when fighting the Griffin. It seems to just amplify all the existing IGR powers, in addition to forming a flaming cape on her shoulders.

Others

    Ana Costa

Ana Costa

First Appearance: Inferno Girl Red Book One (November 2022)

Cássia's mother, a reporter who encourages her daughter to follow her dreams and be the next Inferno Girl Red. Ana herself had previously reported on the Inferno Girl Red prior to Cássia, who people didn't believe existed, leading to Ana gaining a negative reputation as a reporter.
  • Action Survivor: She doesn't have superpowers, but she saves Cássia a few times through some good instincts, like driving her car into a monster or distracting an enemy.
  • Foil: Serves as one to Marcus Bell, the Rogue Sun who Cássia briefly worked with and father of Dylan Siegel, the current Rogue Sun and protagonist of that series. Marcus abandoned Dylan's mother and Dylan when he was an infant and ended up marrying a wealthy woman named Juliette, living in luxury and having two kids with her who he was also fairly neglectful of. When he mentors Dylan as a spirit, he's more concerned with solving his own murder and the Rogue Sun legacy than with Dylan himself, and even outright admits that he lied when he said he believed in Dylan, who he only chose as his successor because he didn't care about him compared to his other two children. Ana, however, raised Cássia when they had very little money and encourages her to follow her own dreams, and her teaching Cássia about the Inferno Girl Red powers involves actually believing in her kid and providing emotional support.
  • Good Parents: She's supportive of her daughter while telling her to follow her own dreams at Helix Campus and not try to make money for their family.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Used to report on illegal activities, and also Inferno Girl Red. The latter makes it difficult for her to find a job as a reporter in the present.
  • Mama Bear: She's absolutely willing to risk her life for her daughter, despite having no powers of her own.
  • Put on a Bus: Is teleported to parts unknown at the end of Book One.

    Thomas Park

Thomas Park

First Appearance: Inferno Girl Red Book One (November 2022)

Son of rich scientist Sung-Ho Park, Thomas is fairly rebellious against his very successful father. He and Cássia have issues with their fathers in common.
  • Daddy Issues: His first real scene sees him being put in his place by his father in class, and Cássia can instantly tell their relationship is complicated.
  • Ship Tease: Cássia's first talk with Thomas really, really leans into them having romantic chemistry, despite how brief it is before she needs to go.

Enemies

    The Griffin (Sung-Ho Park)

Sung-Ho Park

First Appearance: Inferno Girl Red Book One (November 2022)

Servant of an extra-dimensional being, scientist and Thomas' father.
  • Starter Villain: He's the first villain Cássia encounters, and the one who she first uses the Dragon Blast power on.
