This page is the character list for Compacts and Conspiracies listed in the fan-supplement Hunter the Vigil: Skin and Bones. For the character sheet for official Compacts and Conspiracies, go here.

Compacts

    The Carvers

  • He Who Fights Monsters: Granted, they wouldn't know, but their current modus operandi is tailor-made for creating more slashers.
  • Humans Are the Real Monsters: In their write-up, the Carvers will make the argument that real human serial killers (Including the likes of Jeffrey Dahmer and Pedro Lopez, AKA "The Monster of the Andes") had larger body counts that many monsters other hunters will face.
  • Pædo Hunt: One example Carver is noted as Catfishing, posing as a teen girl to lure in predators. The write-up notes that while they haven't killed anyone yet, they're still guilty of being who they are.
  • Vigilante Man: An entire compact of them, loosely organized they may be.

    The Dirge

  • Dirty Coward: An example member of the Dirge is noted as surviving an undead outbreak by running and hiding as the small town and campground attacked were wiped out by the government.
  • Heroes Act, Villains Hinder: Noted as being more active than many hunters, purposefully going out and trying to find the undead.
  • Our Zombies Are Different: To their credit, the compact is well-aware of this fact. While recognizing that there are multiple means to create undead, they've grouped them into Type Z (Viral zombies ala Resident Evil), Type Y (Vampires and potentially the Strix), Type X (Prometheans), and Type W (Revenants seeking revenge).
  • Shout-Out: Done purposefully; they classify hunters from the Cheiron Group as "Umbrella" due to not knowing the truth.
  • Special Occasions Are Magic: A dark version; the Dirge's genesis was during the horror of Hurricane Katrina, when several undead managed to escape whatever kept them imprisoned.

    MI 18

  • Stupid Jetpack Hitler: Their entire reason for existing; England couldn't afford to not confront the occultists and monsters under Nazi command.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: Unlike their later take through SG-14, MI 18 is forced to fight with itself because that's just how it was setup during the Second World War.

    The Silver Cross

  • Accidental Murder: The original cell of the Silver Cross were medical students operating under a rogue ghoul. When they finally confronted and captured him, they had no idea that holding him captive would mean his death by rapid aging as soon as he went a full month without fresh blood.
  • Combat Medic: As close as the Vigil can get, at least. More specifically, this applies to the group calling themselves the Cutters.
  • Everyone Has Standards: A more heroic example, but given the nature of the Vigil it's unsurprising. It's noted that the Silver Cross will refuse treatment to certain hunter groups; the murderous Promethean Brotherhood and the violent Night Watch are given as examples of groups the Silver Cross won't treat. Yet they'll still take money from the Ashwood Abbey.
  • Science Hero: Not quite to the same extent of Null Mysteriis or the Cheiron Group, but there are more than a few members of the compact trying to document and experiment on the paranormal to better assist other hunters.
  • Support Party Member: While still hunters, the compact prefers to stay to the rear of the fighting as other hunters handle the more dangerous aspects of the vigil.

    The Wordsmiths

  • Exactly What I Aimed At: It's noted that other hunters are more than willing to eliminate the Wordsmiths along with the vampires they're looking for.
  • Good Is Not Dumb: Or, as stated in one of their rules, "Optimism, Not Stupidity." The group are trying to save vampires, ghouls, and blood slaves, not get themselves killed.
  • Non-Action Guy: An organization-wide one compared to other hunters. Instead of trying to eliminate vampires, they try to remind the blood-sucking dead of their lost humanity.
  • Zombie Advocate: Unfortunately, they don't have the same training or skills as the Talbot Group.

Conspiracies

    The Chosen of Kroll

  • Body Horror: Kroll might "bless" his followers, but unlike the Malleus Maleficarum these blessings aren't just pretty lights.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: According to them, Kroll is a dread lord, but one that's apparently on mankind's side. Of course, that's according to the followers.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Kroll, of course.
  • Lovecraftian Superpower: Their entire endowment, "Abyssal Blessings." They range from "small" psychic powers like intercepting a memory from full moving from short-term to long-term memory, up to being able to sprout tentacles from their bodies.

    The Regency of Thorns

  • Eldritch Abomination: El Rey de las Hojas Muertas, the King of Dead Leaves. According to his own words, a member of the true fae who was cast out by the other gentry for opposing an invasion of Earth.
  • The Fair Folk: The primary threat targeted by the Regency.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: Fitting, given the group was founded in Mexico.
  • The Kingslayer: After proving frighteningly competent at fighting changelings, the seasonal courts in Mexico eventually offered a meeting in Guadalajara. No one knows what happened, but the only evidence of what happened was a voicemail to a member of the Regency that the King had been shot by a cold iron-tipped crossbow bolt. No one knows who fired the first shot or why, but the death of their leader has turned the Regency into a determined and militant force against all fae creatures.
  • Mistaken for an Imposter: According to the King of Dead Leaves, its in fact the changelings that are the artificial beings, and that the people still on Earth are the humans. He claimed that the victims were taken to Arcadia, but at worst had parts of their souls removed before being unceremoniously dumped back on Earth. Of course, anyone who knows Changeling: The Lost knows better.

    Section 9

  • Ambiguous Situation: None of Section 9's current membership came from before the fall of the Soviet Union. Combined with the loss of all documents from this period, there are dozens of unanswered questions. Most obvious, what happened to Die Glocke and where Serum 525 truly comes from.
  • Back from the Dead: One of the most powerful endowments utilized by Section 9 can return the dead to life. Unlike the majority of other means of resurrection in Hunter and Chronicles of Darkness overall, there is no long-term damage to the recipient of the "gift" of life. Even then, the resurrected loses a point from their physical attributes, and can't remember anything from the past six hours.
  • Body Horror: While not as intense as the Chosen of Kroll, Serum 525 can still cause rapid physical change in its users. Often to the shock and horror of those witnessing it.
  • Grim Up North: Grimmer than normal, even for Russia. There are rumors that Section 9 is herding reanimates through the Siberian tundra.
  • Zombie Apocalypse: As long as they have one of the highest levels of their endowment, an operative in Section 9 can resurrect dead bodies at their command.
