The Invisibility Research Team

In General

• Deadpan Snarker: Pretty much every team member has a snarky thing to say to one another, particularly Sebastian, Sarah and Frank. 
• Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: The team make an eclectic group, but they work well together before Sebastian's 'breakdown'.

Dr. Sebastian Caine

Played by: Kevin Bacon

• Ax-Crazy: When Caine comes to the conclusion that he can do anything he wants without consequence due to being invisible, he quickly devolves into an unstable sadist who thinks nothing of committing rape or murder for a kick.
• Big Bad Slippage: He was never particularly nice to begin with, but after becoming invisible, he starts acting on his darker impulses until it escalates into a killing spree.
• Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Caine's employers tolerated his eccentricities because he was remarkably talented, though when he failed to announce a breakthrough (after nearly a year of no progress), they warned him that should he fail to come up with results shortly, he would be fired.
• Crowbar Combatant: He uses a crowbar during his rampage at the end.
• Faux Affably Evil: A rather smug example. Early on, he's cracking jokes and tries to be charming, but nobody's really impressed with him. And then, in the climax:
  Caine: Well, that's okay. It's gonna be a busy day.
• The Friend Nobody Likes: Even before he becomes invisible, he's just barely tolerated by his fellow researchers. Sarah in particular hates him and is outraged by his experiments on animals.
• Genius Sweet Tooth: Comes up with his best ideas when he's chewing on twinkies.
• A God Am I: He likes to claim that he's God.
• Invisible Jerkass: On par with Adrian Griffin in this department. Once he becomes invisible, he immediately takes to groping his colleagues, then escalates to rape, and eventually, murder.
• Kick the Dog: He kills one of the laboratory's dogs in a fit of rage.
• Last Kiss: Invokes this right before he intends to kill Linda.
• Made of Iron: In the climax, Caine is burned with a flamethrower and his clothes are set on fire; he sheds his clothing and gets away with no obvious injuries, but given his invisibility he may have suffered burns that just can't be seen.
• The Peeping Tom: Spies on his attractive neighbor when she's changing clothes.
• Pet the Dog: Caine has a small one right when he decides to inject himself with the serum so that the rest of team won't be held accountable if anything goes wrong.
• Sanity Slippage: Caine swiftly starts to lose it once he realizes that his invisibility is apparently permanent.
• The Sociopath: He callously disregards the well-being of others constantly except when he needs them. Once he finds out his invisibility is permanent, he starts searching for stimulation in the form of rape.

Dr. Linda McKay

Played by: Elisabeth Shue

• Damsel out of Distress: She's the one who rescues her Love Interest and takes down Sebastian.
• Working with the Ex: She used to date Sebastian.

Dr. Matthew "Matt" Kensington

Played by: Josh Brolin

• Always Someone Better: Matt freely acknowledges that Sebastian is smarter than he is.
• Secret Relationship: He and Linda haven't told Sebastian that they're seeing each other. Sebastian doesn't take it well when he finds out.

Dr. Sarah Kennedy

Played by: Kim Dickens

• Kindly Vet: She's the veterinarian of the team and she really cares about the animals that are being experimented on.
• Neck Snap: How Caine kills her.

Carter Abbey

Played by: Greg Grunberg

• Big Eater: In one scene, when Janice goes to the bathroom, she tells Frank to keep Carter away from her food. Frank replies that he'll try, but he can't promise anything.

Frank Chase

Played by: Joey Slotnick

• Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Caine impales him with a crowbar.
• Only Sane Man: Frank briefly plays this part during the climax, constantly shouting for people to not wander off on their own and being ignored, before he himself joins the overall stupidity and turns his back on the door he's supposed to be watching.

Janice Walton

Played by: Mary Randle

• Black Dude Dies First: Janice is the first victim of Caine's rampage.

Other Characters

Dr. Howard Kramer

Played by: William Devane

• Hazardous Water: Caine drowns him in his own pool.

Sebastian's Neighbor

Played by: Rhona Mitra

• Lust Object: For Sebastian
• What Happened to the Mouse?: She's never seen or even mentioned after Caine raped her.
