First Appearance: Young Avengers #2 (May 2005)

"When I speak you will listen because what I have to say is important."
A wealthy publishing magnate, and the father of Kate and Susan Bishop. When his wife, Eleanor, seemingly died in a plane crash, Derek coped by throwing himself into his businesses and becoming emotionally distant from his daughters. He later remarried a woman named Heather (only three years older than Kate), putting a further strain on his relationship with his daughters.
  • Big, Screwed-Up Family: He married one of Kate's classmates as a trophy wife and tries to convince Kate to call her "Mother". Then he nearly has her killed when he takes away her money and delivers her to Madame Masque.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Runs a shell corporation that provides funding for Madame Masque's criminal activities. And he's rubbed elbows with the likes of Kingpin, The Owl, and Mr. Negative.
  • The Mob Boss Is Scarier: Why he authorizes a hit on his own daughter. He doesn't want Kate to get hurt, but Kingpin essentially bullies him into agreeing to it.
Kingpin: Mr. Bishop, what say you?
    Derek: Agreed.
Kingpin: Well then, ladies and gentlemen; it would appear we are in the Avenger-killing business.

First Appearance: Hawkeye (Vol 5) #7 (June, 2017)

The mother of Kate and Susan Bishop, and first wife of Derek Bishop. More socially conscious than her husband, Eleanor was the glue that kept her family together. Her philanthropic actions, such as volunteering in community centers and women's shelters, would serve as an inspiration for Kate as a child. Eleanor was believed to have been killed in a plane crash while visiting Boulder, Colorado. She later turned up alive, with her death apparently faked by Madame Masque.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: Downplayed. When she reunites with Kate, Eleanor turns out to have become a vampire and wants to live with her daughter again. However, she'd rather run away from all superheroes and supervillains, so Kate rebuffs her so as to continuing helping her friends.
  • Missing Mom: Was presumed dead for several years. Later turned out to still be alive.
  • Non-Idle Rich: Prior to her death, she was a philanthropist who volunteered at soup kitchens and women's shelters.

Alter Ego: Dr. Barbara Morse

Notable Aliases: Agent 19, Huntress, Bobbi Van Dyne

Team Affiliations: S.H.I.E.L.D., West Coast Avengers, Great Lakes Avengers, Secret Avengers, Force Works

First Appearance: Astonishing Tales (Vol 1) #6 (June, 1971)

Bobbi Morse was once a talented biochemistry major earning her PhD at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Her professor, Dr. Calvin, turned out to be part of a S.H.I.E.L.D. sponsored project called Project Gladiator, one of many failed attempts to recreate the Super Soldier serum that created Captain America. Suspecting the project had been compromised by A.I.M., Dr. Calvin recruited Bobbi into S.H.I.E.L.D. to help find the saboteur. Operating under the codename Agent 19, Bobbi had several adventures in the Savage Land before deciding to go “private sector.” Bobbi began the freelance stage of her career as the costumed crimefighter Huntress; she changed the name to Mockingbird based on her tendency to taunt her opponents during battle. She first met Hawkeye when she was investigating Cross Technological Enterprises; Clint’s day job was a security guard at the company, and he had begun to suspect his bosses were up to no good. This led to the first of many encounters the two would have with the cyborg supervillain Crossfire, and the start of a long-running on and off romance between the two. Bobbi was one of the first people abducted by Empress Veranke’s sleeper cell. Her impostor played the role a little too well, getting killed in battle with Mephisto. The real Bobbi was presumed dead until the aftermath of the Invasion. She has since returned to S.H.I.E.L.D., gained genuine superhuman strength thanks to a modified version of the Super Soldier Serum, and formed Genius In Action Research Labs (G.I.R.L.) with Nadia Van Dyne.

"This is what I am now. And you'll never know who I was before."
Natalia Romanova (commonly Anglicized as Natasha Romanov) was raised at an early age to be an elite operative for Department X, the Russian counterpart for S.H.I.E.L.D. After graduating from their Red Room training program, Natasha was given Super Serum that granted her peak physical conditioning and enhanced healing abilities (which also slowed her aging). Under the code name Black Widow, Natasha was initially deployed against Iron Man. Witnessing a fugitive Hawkeye fleeing from the authorities after a case of mistaken identity, Black Widow decides to recruit him as an accomplice in her schemes. However, her handlers begin to see her growing attachment to the young archer as a weakness. After an ambush where each believe the other has been killed, Black Widow is taken back to Russia for “re-education”. However, she eventually breaks free of her conditioning and defects to the West. Performing several operations for S.H.I.E.L.D., the Avengers, and the Lady Liberators, Black Widow has reestablished contact with Hawkeye and they maintain a positive working relationship.
