    George of the Jungle

Voiced by: Lee Tockar (2007), Cory Doran (2015)

The king of the jungle, only scrawnier and younger, yet still strong.

  • Apparently Human Merfolk: George becomes one of these in "Wet Behind the Ears", where he gets some gills in order to save the lake.
  • Battle of the Sexes: Him vs. Ursula
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Even though he’s an idiot (and causes most of the episodes problems) he is very strong, is able to solve other problems, and always manages to undo his mistakes (usually). In one episode where he leaves his friends in charge while he’s gone, they are unable to handle all the responsibilities while George fixes everything in an instant.
  • Honor Before Reason: He let Big Mitch take advantage of him because he swore to never turn down anyone who called for help.
  • Idiot Hero: He is gullible, childish, lacks common sense, and easily fooled but he has a good heart.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: The majority of the problems the happens in the episodes are caused by his gullibility and foolishness. Either due to being manipulated by a villain or by lack of common sense.
  • The Rival: 2 of them: Steve of the Jungle and, more obviously, Ursula.

    An Ape Named Ape

Voiced by: Paul Dobson (2007), Robert Tinkler (2015)

George's best friend, an intelligent ape who often has to rescue George whenever he gets in trouble.

    Magnolia (formerly Ursula)

Voiced by: Tabitha St. Germain (2007; as Ursula), Linda Ballantyne (2015)

A self-proclaimed science genius. In the second season, she is renamed "Magnolia", but is otherwise the same character.

  • Adaptational Name Change: Her name was Ursula in the 2007 cartoon.
  • Animals Hate Him: In the 2015 version, she is repeatedly attacked by everyone and thing in the jungle (save George and Ape). "Trial by Jungle" in particular shows her suffering a variety of injuries and misfortunes in just the span of a few minutes, all while fellow humans George and Ursula get along with the animals just fine.

    Ursula (formerly Magnolia)

Voiced by: Britt Irvin (2007; as Magnolia), Bridget Wareham (2015)

A jungle teen who speaks like a valley girl. In the second season, she's renamed "Ursula", and her character is changed drastically. Now, she's much more primitive in terms of speech pattern and personality, and is often hostile to George and the others.

  • Decomposite Character: She seems to be the individual version of Fella from the 1967 series, as Fella and Ursula were one and the same in that series ("Fella" is what George would often refer to Ursula as).
  • Freudian Excuse: According to Evil!George in "Heart of Gold" she wants to be an animal because she's terrible at being a person. Her crying in response seems to confirm this.
  • Hulk Speak: She doesn't speak properly, and also kinda sounds like him.
Ursula: "Ursula no like talking plant!"
  • Jerkass: Mostly to the heroes
  • Mysterious Past: There's nothing known about her past, therefore making her an Orphaned Hero like George.
  • The Rival: The obvious one is George.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: She's a vicious bully for much of the 2015 version, but after "The Ursula Solution" (where she briefly loses her animal spirit and experiences fear for the first time), she becomes more of a Jerk with a Heart of Gold and socializes with the group more often.
  • Unconventional Courtroom Tactics: On "Breaking Ape", when there seems to be no prosecutor for George's trial, Ursula comes to court and reveals that she's the prosecutor, told the judge that George is guilty, and forces the judge to send George (and also Ape) to prison.
  • You Don't Look Like You: In the season season, she doesn't wear make up and looks much more animalistic.
