Main Cast

    Jen

Jen

Played by: Máiréad Tyers

The main character who has yet to receive a super power.

Superpower: Unknown

  • Deceased Parents Are the Best: Seems to be far more closer to her deceased father and tells him things that she would not to her living mother much to her mother's chagrin. It helps that her best friend is a medium and can channel him whenever she needs to talk to him and every appearance seems to indicate that he genuinely is and was supportive and loving parent.
  • It's All About Me: Jen tends to view herself as a poor, put-upon victim, but while her life really isn't the best, she's not that good at recognizing that other people might struggle as much or even more than her. As a result she can be very self-centered and even callous, with a knack for making every situation about her even when it should be obvious that it's not.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Self-centered and callous, Jen can also be supremely petty and directly mean, especially towards people she doesn't like... but she does have a heart and gets a number of Pet the Dog moments.
  • Un-Sorcerer: The primary source of conflict in the series is her lack of superpowers, though it's shown that this might just be an Freudian Excuse as, in general, she is underachieving and many other issues are shown to be driving her lack of contentment in life, but she herself blames it on her lack of powers.
  • Womanchild: The epitome of maturity, she is not. Especially when dealing with her family she acts more like an irresponsible, sulky teenager than the 25 year old she is.

    Carrie

Carrie

Played by: Sofia Oxenham

Jen's roommate and best friend since grade school.

Superpower: Spirit Medium

  • Extreme Doormat: She frequently beecomes one, with her unfailing tendency to put everyone else's needs above her own, especially Jen's and Kash's.
  • Nice Girl: Unfailingly nice and kind to everyone, even those being openly rude to her, and has long suffered as Jen's best friend and Kash's girlfriend, both of whom put their needs over hers.
  • Utility Magic: Her job at a law office is primarily to contact the dead to settle legal matters. Since people just use her for her powers, Carrie starts to feel like they just use her as an appliance, and not for her law expertise.

    Kash

Kash

Played by: Bilal Hasna

Carrie's unemployed boyfriend who dreams of being a comic-book superhero.

Superpower: Mental Time Travel

  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Selfish and unreliable with Dirty Coward tendencies, but he does have a conscience and will do the right thing with a bit of prompting.
  • Manchild: Lazy, unambitious and would rather live out a childish fantasy as a "superhero" than get a real job. His idea of a "special date" is a YouTube deepdive. By the time the show starts Carrie is long tired of being the "adult" in the relationship.
  • Mental Time Travel: Can "rewind" time, but only he remembers what happened previously.

    Jizzlord

Jizzlord

Played by: Luke Rollason

A shapeshifter whose suffering from amnesia after a period stuck in cat form, Jen and the group take pity on him.

Superpower: Can take the form of a house cat.

  • Cloudcuckoolander: As a result of having been a cat for three years and having forgotten a lot about how to function as a human, he can certainly come across as... not being all there.
  • Nice Guy: A bit of an oddball who can be Innocently Insensitive, but on the whole is very sweet-natured.
  • Shapeshifter Mode Lock: Was stuck as a cat for three years.

Reoccurring Characters

    Mary

Mary

Played by: Siobhán McSweeney

Jen's overbearing mother.

Superpower: Technopathy

  • An Immigrant's Tale: She describes her and Jen's immigration to England as a harrowing journey of struggle and culture shock in order to live a better life. As Jen points out, Mary is clearly overexaggerating things to make it sound like an issue.
  • Hopeless with Tech: Can control machines but, sadly for her, she must UNDERSTAND how they work to control them properly.

    Ian

Ian

Played by: Robbie Gee

Jen's stepfather and Andy's father.

Superpower: Senses Emotions

    Andy

Andy

Played by: Safia Oakley-Green

Jen's overacheiving younger half-sister.

Superpower: Super-Strength

  • The Ace: Seemingly does everything well, in direct contrast to Jen. Becomes a bit of the Broken Ace after she gets her powers since she has trouble controlling them.
  • Power Incontinence: Has difficulty controlling her newfound strength, accidentally injuring her girlfriend and ruining her music career.

    Luke

Luke

Played by: Ned Porteous

A handsome man who has a no strings attached sexual relationship with Jen.

Superpower: Flight

  • Jerkass: No regards for anyone's feelings but his own, uses Jen for sex and is clearly indifferent to the obvious turmoil their interactions cause her. Only begins to show more interest once she has someone else interested in her, more to "win" than out of actual affection.
  • Power Incontinence: His powers seem to be tied to his self-confidence as when Jen turns him down he has trouble taking off.

    Nora

Nora

Played by: Rosa Robson

An affluent lifestyle influencer and author who turns out to be Jizzlord's wife from three years prior and the mother of Alfie, their son

Superpower: Telepathy

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: On the surface she presents herself as a sweet, charming woman, and a loving mother, who works as a lifestyle coach and influencer who is all about people finding their best lives. Behind closed doors, she is revealed to be a petty, spiteful, vindictive manipulative woman who only cares about her image and fobs off her son's life on Jizzlord, his father, even though he isn't the biological father, as Alfie was the product of an affair between Nora and his best friend. She even has her son dye his hair brown because it doesn't fit her aesthetic (he is naturally ginger).
