The Dream Voyagers

    In General

Tropes that apply to the group as a whole:

  • Achilles' Heel: Their primary Personas have weaknesses:
    • Aiko changes her weaknesses accordingly, but her first Persona, Anne Bonny, is weak to wind.
    • Pelagio: psychokinesis.
    • Mira: earth and darkness.
    • Julian: water and ice.
    • Noel: darkness.
  • Multinational Team: Aiko and Reiha are Japanese, Mira is Kenyan, Julian is half-Japanese/half-American, and Noel is German. Pelagio is an exception due to not being human.

    Aiko Tsuruga / "Saber"

Aiko Tsuruga

Arcana: 0. Fool
Weapons: Cutlasses and flintlock pistols

The protagonist.

  • Affectionate Nickname: She calls Pelagio "Pela-chan" and "Pela-tori" after he awakened to his Persona.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: While she is kind and thoughtful, she will get pissed at anyone who threatens or hurts her friends.
  • Disappeared Dad: Her father hasn't been around in her life since she was young.
  • Fatal Flaw: Her compassion. While it is one of her greatest strengths, she's prone to trying to see the good in everything and everyone (with a few exceptions) earlier in the story, something that Bartholomew calls her out on in Chapter 11. Fortunately, she gets better.
  • Heroic Mime: Averted; unlike the game protagonists, she is not silent.
  • Implausible Hair Color: She has silver hair; justified, as she dyes her hair.
  • Nice Girl: She's certainly a sweet person, especially when she reached out to Mira in Chapter 1 despite her roommate's attempts to dissuade her from becoming friends.
  • Parental Neglect: Heavily implied to be the case with her mother.
  • Signature Headgear: Her ruby hairpin. It was the only thing she had left to remember her father by until it got destroyed by Shadows, leaving behind only a mere ruby fragment.

    Pelagio / "Guardian"

Pelagio

Arcana: VIII. Strengthnote
Persona: Galahad
Weapons: Broadswords and shields

A mysterious falcon. Having found himself in Faraway Lands with amnesia, he takes the role of being Aiko's protector, as it is the only memory he remembers.

    Mirambela "Mira" Sorano / "Dancer"

Mirambela "Mira" Sorano

Arcana: II. Priestess
Persona: Ọya
Weapons: Daggers and dart guns

Aiko's roommate. A second-year who got held back due to her poor performance in school a year prior, she was a target of constant bullying and harassment from the other students.

  • Affectionate Nickname: She calls Aiko "Ai-chan" after being rescued from Faraway Lands, and later "Dada Yangyu" as a sign of their sisterhood.
  • All of the Other Reindeer: Poor Mira receives torment from other students and even one of the teachers for supposedly being "stupid" due to her low grades from her previous year.
  • Doesn't Like Guns: She refuses to use guns for combat, prompting her to use a dart gun as an alternative.
  • The Heart: She helps the group remain emotionally stable and shares this role with Noel.
  • Massive Numbered Siblings: She has seven siblings.
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: She notably becomes more confident and happier after being rescued from Faraway Lands.

    Jiachi "Julian" Rosea / "Gunslinger"

Jiachi "Julian" Rosea

Arcana: XII. Hanged Man
Persona: Wild Bill
Weapons: Revolvers

  • Better as Friends: Both Julian and Aiko agree that they are better off as this after escaping Julian's Land, as they had initially only tried dating due to the status of having a significant other. It backfires on him later, as he starts to develop strong feelings for her beyond initial status-grabbing and admits as such to Reiha.
  • But Not Too Foreign: He's half-Japanese and initially had his share of troubles due to this.
  • Do Not Call Me "Paul": He insists on people calling him Julian instead of his registered name, Jiachi. After his rescue from Faraway Lands, however, he starts accepting that both his names are a part of who he is.
  • Hiding Your Heritage: His father desperately hid his American roots to protect him from JCAP. Before his Land, Julian constantly argued with his father over this.
  • Hot-Blooded: Oh, yes. He gets overly confident while dealing with Shadows.
  • Revolvers Are Just Better: He uses them as his primary weapons.
  • Vitriolic Best Buds: With Pelagio. Julian calls Pelagio various nicknames, such as "Angry Bird."
  • Will They or Won't They?: With Aiko after he escapes his Land.

    Noel Vitienne / "Mender"

Noel Vitienne

Arcana: XIII. Death
Persona: Dellingr

The son of German nobility who is studying in Tosashimizu.

  • Badass Pacifist: He took an oath never to attack an enemy, thus restricting him to healing and support roles (though he does have offensive Hama and Bless skills), but that doesn't stop him from playing crucial roles in the party.
  • Childhood Friends: With Shukiji and Ayano.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He nearly murdered someone when he was eleven out of anger. It's why he took an oath to avoid hurting anyone again.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: He has blond hair and is one of the kindest characters in the story. However, this was NOT the case during his younger years before he came to Japan.
  • The Heart: Very much so; he helps relieve tensions and shares this role with Mira.
  • The Lost Lenore: Ayano is this to him; understanding what led to her death is his primary motivation to explore the Faraway Lands.

    Reiha Hayato / "Witch"
Arcana: XI. Justice
Persona: Adrestia

  • Dark and Troubled Past: Where to begin? After the Phantom Thieves changed her biological father's heart, Reiha got torn away from her home and mother (heavily implied to have been forced into working as a sex slave for the Yakuza) when she was just thirteen. After escaping Tokyo with her adoptive father, she had to lie low in Tosashimizu City under a different name so the Yakuza could not track them down.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: She's often wearing punk goth clothes and dark makeup, but she's on the heroes' side.
  • Fan-Created Offspring: In the story, she's the daughter of Junya Kaneshiro.
  • Given Name Reveal: Reiha Hayato's not her real name; she's called Ruri Kaneshiro.
  • Happily Adopted: By Dr. Spica, who saved her before Tokyo's Yakuza could kill her.
  • Lady Swearsalot: She certainly has quite the potty mouth, especially using "bitch" to insult Benihime behind her back.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: She's fond of non-human creatures and beings such as witches and vampires.
  • Older Than They Look: Chapter 42 reveals that she's nineteen instead of seventeen. It's justified since it's required to hide her identity from the Tokyo Yakuza.
  • Ship Tease: With Noel.
  • The Mole: She's a member of the Student Disciplinary Committee who helps out Aiko by keeping her updated on Benihime's movements.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Benihime. She even admitted having romantic feelings (and possibly a relationship) with Kujou.

A third-year student. She serves as the president of Koashimizu's Student Disciplinary Committee and is a constant tormenter of Aiko.

  • Alpha Bitch: She's the president of the academy's Student Disciplinary Committee and has the reputation of being a downright cruel individual.
  • Karma Houdini: Because of her position at school and her relation to a member of JCAP, she always gets away with bullying other students she sees as below her. It's averted later, as shown in Laser-Guided Karma.
    • Laser-Guided Karma: She finally gets her just desserts in Chapter 35, where her boyfriend, Kohru, reveals he had been interviewing students she bullied to gain evidence in removing her from the Student Disciplinary Committee.
  • Manipulative Bitch: She gets Aiko into trouble by claiming to the principal that the first-year student had attacked her after receiving her injuries courtesy of Pelagio.
    • She also falsely accused her father of abuse to work full-time with the Karma Club.
  • Missing Mom: Chapter 35 reveals her mother is dead.
  • We Used to Be Friends: With Reiha. They used to love each other romantically, being the reason why Kujou never bothered to force Reiha off the SDC.

    Mr. Takao

Aiko's homeroom teacher.

  • Cool Teacher: He's compassionate and reasonable toward all his students.

    Ms. Mattora

A History teacher at Koashimizu.

  • Sadist Teacher: She's a snooty individual who supports JCAP and, in the earlier chapters, constantly looks down on Mira and shows her no sympathy for her plight.

    Cecille Yumika

Principal Yumika's sister.

    Daisuke Kujou

Daisuke Kujou

Benihime's father.

  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: A xenophobic politician whose foremost commitment is two things: his political career and the happiness of his daughter Benihime.

The Masked Circle

    Lady Scorpio
Persona: Cleopatra

The Masked Circle's leader.

    Prince Taurus / Ryuken Samesaji
Arcana: VII. Chariot
Persona: Mithras

Kotone's older brother.

  • Broken Pedestal: Views Akira/Joker and the Phantom Thieves in this way.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Oh, boy. His parents had vanished, he had to raise his only sibling alone, and he struggled to find a job to remain financially stable, fearing possibly losing custody of his sister.
  • Freudian Excuse: He joined the Masked Circle to support himself and Kotone financially after their parents were gone.
  • Promotion to Parent: He has to look after his younger sister, Kotone, following their parents' disappearances when he was barely out of high school.
  • Smug Snake: Very much so.
