Go To

Here is a list of characters from the Othrysian Pantheon, the divine predecessors (and parents) of some of the Tauren Giant Pantheon(s), the Old Orosian Pantheon and the Pramanthan Pantheon. Once overthrown and sealed away, they had returned for a rematch in the past, and after that conflict ended inconclusively at present operates elsewhere from the Taurus Peninsula.

Othrysian Pantheon

    open/close all folders

    General
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: They had begetted Giant deities as they had normal-sized ones, and many of them are colossal in their true forms.
  • Golden Age: It was mentioned in Rheia's drabble that the Othrysians for all their faults did oversaw a golden age of peace and prosperity for mortals under their rule during their reign over the Taurus Peninsula, which only ended when the Crooked King of Harvest became increasingly tyrannical and then the Orosians overthrew them. Restoring that golden age became one of the justifications the Othrysians used to justify their wars against Orosians and later the Pramanthans when they returned for rematches.
  • Götterdämmerung: Experienced one in the first 'Titanomachy' when the Orosians overthrew them. Unlike in classical mythology and many Codexverse examples, it didn't actually take and they returned for rematches.
  • He's Back!: Despite being overthrown and punished/imprisoned, the Othrysians managed to return on two occasions, first under Rheia in the 'Twilight of the Orosians' to overthrow their usurping Orosian Pantheon progenies, and then under Phosphoron in the 'Second Titanomachy' to battle against the Pramanthan Pantheon for dominance of the Taurus Peninsula. The second one proved more successful and permenant as while they did not win, they remained and decided to set up shop elsewhere.
  • It's Personal: Many of them had it against their children for overthrowing and sealing them away for the crime of their (former) leader.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Was overthrown in the past by the Orosian Pantheon in the 'First Titanomachy', and was noted in various Drabbles and Bellamos' entry that they would return twice in the 'Twilight of the Orosians' and in the later 'Second Titanomachy', in both cases seeking to punish their children for overthrowing them and reclaiming their rule over the Tauren Peninsula.

Cronos/Keironus, the Crooked King of Harvest

Classification: [TBA]

Portfolio: [TBA]

Rank: [TBA]

  • Abusive Parent: As abusive as one can get given he devoured his children in his paranoia over a prophecy of them overthrowing him. Ironically, it only served to make it a Self-Fulfilling Prophecy.
  • Expy: Of Cronus, the usurper of Uranus and the King of the Titans
  • Meaningful Name: Keironus derives from the original Indo-European etymology of Cronus' name, Keiro, which means 'Cutter' or 'To Cut'. It references Cronus' act of overthrowing his father the primordial sky-god Ouranos by literally 'Cutting the Sky' with a sickle.
  • Self-Fulfilling Prophecy: His attempts to avert being overthrown, especially by his scions, only served to bring about his downfall.
  • Wound That Will Not Heal: Mentioned in one Drabble to have a weapon which could invoke this in the form of his sickle, which was made by the same guy who created the Alicorn Daggers and could notably ignore even Perpetualty, allowing it and him to harm even Perpetuals like Emperor Golden Scepter.

    Hyperion/Phosphoron, the (WIP)

Classification: [TBA]

Portfolio: [TBA]

Rank: [TBA]

  • Expy: An expy of Hyperion, one of the twelve Titans begetted by Gaia and Uranus, and father of Helios (Sun), Selene (Moon) and Eos (Dawn).
  • The Dragon: Implied to served as one for [REDACTED], the Crooked King of Harvest who was the original leader of the Othrysians. Took over after [REDACTED] was rendered indisposed.
  • The Leader: In the absence of his younger brother, he became the leader of the surviving Othrysians and led them in the rematch between them and the survivors of the Orosians in the Pramanthan Pantheon.
  • Swallowed Whole: Tries to invoke this on his own son Ilios and seal him away in his belly for supporting the Orosians in overthrowing the Othrysians, but was prevented from doing so by Bellamos.

Nyx/Nýchta, the Lady of the Night

    Rheia, Mother of the Olympians/Orosians

Classification: [TBA]

Portfolio: [TBA]

Rank: [TBA]

First mentioned in a Drabble, Rheia was the mother of the Orosian gods who overthrew the Othrysians to become the ruling pantheon of the Tauren Peninsula. While initially supportive of her children and even helped them overthrow their father, she grew bitter and furious with them over time for their own misdeeds and transgressions and eventually plotted their overthrow come the 'Twilight of the Orosians'.
  • Action Mom: A dark example, as despite her initial background supportive role for her children, she's more than capable of holding her own in a fight, even leading a war as a Frontline General. In her case however, this would be action against her own children.
  • Adaptational Badass: In Classical Mythology and in the God of War series she has a small to background (if still critical) role in the events of and conflict between the Titans and the Olympians, with others doing most of the intrigue and fighting while she played a supportive role. Here, while she did all that, she also actively plots the destruction of Mount Oros and lead the Othrysians she managed to free and their forces as one of the factions opposing the Orosians during the 'Twilight of the Orosians'.
  • Adaptational Villainy: In the original myths Rhea was a Greater-Scope Paragon who saved her children from Cronus and supported the Olympians through their overthrow of the Titans and their subsequent reign. Here, while Rheia also did all that, she became consumed with bitterness and anger at what her Orosian children became and eventually became a Well-Intentioned Extremist Manipulative Bitch and Evil Matriarch who plotted to overthrow them even if it meant waging a devastating war with her fellow Othrysians to do so, fully intending to do unto them like their father did if she wins.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Like her fellow Othrysians, her true form is actually mountain-sized, which is a given considering her and her Othrysian family are descended from Gaea, one of the Earthen Triplets and a mother goddess of Giant deities and races like the Nature Giants.
  • Caged Inside a Monster: Her intended fate for the Orosians if she wins, just like their father attempted to do.
  • The Chessmaster: Taking the place of Gaia from God of War II and III, she was the one who arranged the Ghost of Sparta's revival after he was betrayed by his father Ouratheros and aided in his quest to change his fate and have his revenge against the King of the Orosians so he could incidentally free some of her imprisoned family and allow her to wage war against the Orosians.
  • Expy: Of the Greek Titan goddess Rhea the wife of Cronus and mother of half the Olympians from Classical Mythology.
  • Evil Matriarch: Became hostile to her own Orosian children after becoming disillusioned with them, plotting their overthrow come the 'Twilight of the Orosians'.
  • Everyone Has Standards: If not Even Evil Has Standards, but she turned on her children after seeing and believing they had become no different than their father/her husband which she aided them in overthrowing.
  • Face–Heel Turn: For the Orosians when she turned on them, as she was their mother who saved them from their father.
  • God-Eating: She Averted this for Ouratheros when his father tried to do so, only to later desire doing the same for the Orosians when she turned on them.
  • Good Parents: Initially was one for Ouratheros and the Orosians, but eventually turned on them after seeing and believing they are or had become no different from their forefathers.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: She initially opposed and helped overthrow her own husband to stop him from devouring their children. In opposing and seeking to overthrow her own children when she grows disillusioned with them, she became like her husband herself in seeking to devour them in turn, even if it's for a different reason.
  • Irony: Mixed with Book Ends. She saved the Orosians from being devoured by and imprisoned inside their father at the 'Twilight of the Othrysians', but come the 'Twilight of the Orosians' she regretted doing this and decided to devour and imprison them inside herself instead.
  • Improbable Weapon User: She used her signature cornucopia like an enormous club, especially when closer to her full size, as shown in a scene depicting the Final Battle of the 'Twilight of the Orosians'.
  • Mama Bear: She turned on her husband to protect her children from his abuse, and later turned on her own children partly after seeing them doing the same to their own scions (who are her own grand-scions) in their own way.
  • Manipulative Bitch: She aided Kratos' efforts to change his fate and have his revenge against Ouratheros, fully intending to use him as a pawn to free her fellow Othrysians and help them wage war against the Orosians until he outlives his usefulness.
  • The Penance: After she was killed at the end of the 'Twilight of the Orosians', her spirit was sentenced to do penance by the Grand Primevals, as while they do not ignore the crimes she herself committed, they recognise her to be as much a victim herself in the entire mess. She would be allowed to go Back from the Dead and return to her fellow Othrysians once she served her sentence.
  • Sinister Scythe: She dual-wielded one of her ex-husband's sickles along with her cornucopia during her battle against the Orosians and eventually against Ouratheros, as shown in a scene depicting the Final Battle of the 'Twilight of the Orosians'.
  • Swallowed Whole: Her intended fate for the Orosians if she won, seeing it as 'putting them back where they belonged'.
  • Top God: Co-ruled the Othrysian Pantheon with [REDACTED], the Crooked King of Harvest during their hayday until she turned on her husband for eating their children and becoming a paranoid tyrant.
  • Tragic Villain: One can argue that if the Orosians' misdeeds didn't disillusion her to her own children, she wouldn't had eventually turned and made war against them which contributed to the death and devastation of the 'Twilight of the Orosians'.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: While initially aiding Kratos and waged war against the Orosians together, she eventually betrayed and discarded him for reasons which remain unclear. In-Universe it's speculated that she either sees him as being not too different from his father or doing too much damage to the lands she sought to rule in his vengeful rampage, which admittedly is not unjustified considering how Kratos is like at the time. Regardless, it ultimately backfired on her when Kratos killed her in the Final Battle at Mount Oros.
