- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Bing, Bang and Bo tend to derail into off-topic conversations about whatever until Beep has to yell at them to focus on the kid's question.
- Glass-Shattering Sound: Their Christmas caroling is so bad it shatters several tv screens and Hap's coffee mug.
- Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: Hap finds that they do nothing but dilly dally all day, but unfortunately has to call them down when there's no one else available in short notice.
Beep

- Enraged by Idiocy: She gets frustrated with her Cloudcuckoolander teammates at times, especially Bing.

- Four-Philosophy Ensemble: Optimist. A little guy full of boundless energy who's impulsivity sometimes helps him find the answers he needs.
- Four-Temperament Ensemble: Sanguine with choleric tendencies. He is cheerful and optimistic, but also tends to "act first, think later".
- I'm Your Biggest Fan: He's a huge fan of Super Mega Awesome Ultra Guy, gushing about him and wanting to be like him/his sidekick.
- Keet: He’s the smallest, but he’s also a ridiculous livewire that is always running around and acting on impulse.

- Blue Is Calm: He is very relaxed and happens to be blue.
- Bizarre Taste in Food: He eats a burrito filled with linguine, pepperoncini, zucchini, ham, Spam and clams in the 'Glue' episode.
- Delicious Distraction: He gets distracted by fruitcake as shown in "A StoryBots Christmas".
- He eats a browser cookie he finds in "How Do Computers Work?"
- Dreary Half-Lidded Eyes: He always has his eyes half-closed to show his laid-back and spaced-out nature.
- Erudite Stoner: He is ridiculously chill and calm, while speaking in the stereotypical “stoner voice”, but also admits to “having his moments” on the proper place to search for an answer.

Boop

- Amusing Injuries: A Running Gag is to have him fall on his head whenever he travels through the transfer tubes.
- This actually serves as a Chekhov's Gun when he falls into a styrofoam cup in "Why Do We Have To Recycle?".
- Bilingual Dialogue: He'll talk in his Pokémon Speak and StoryBots, kids and other guest stars will respond in their normal language.
- Four-Philosophy Ensemble: Cynic, a downplayed example. He's always seen grumpy and indifferent about anything.
- Four-Temperament Ensemble: Melancholic. Somewhat aloof but loyal to his coworkers.
- Intelligible Unintelligible: See The Unintelligible below.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: On the outside he's a perpetual grump but inside he cares deeply about his fellow coworkers and has a persistent fear of failure.

- Pokémon Speak: He only speaks by saying “Boop”, a holdover from the “Beep & Boop” app, where both he and Beep only said their names, in the sense of a “correct answer, wrong answer” way.

- Big Fun: The tallest and widest of the StoryBots, she’s also ridiculously heartfelt and loves just about everything.
- Cuteness Proximity: When she's surrounded by cute little babies she couldn't help but yell in excitement.
- Four-Philosophy Ensemble: Optimist. She is the most emotional of the team and sees good in everyone.
- Four-Temperament Ensemble: Sanguine. She brings unbridled enthusiasm when it comes to getting answers for kids.
- Genki Girl: Gets excited at tons of things and switches between lots of emotions in a few seconds.
- Girls Love Stuffed Animals: She carries around her Rainbow Unicorn plush and has several posters in her room.

Hap

- Alliterative Name: Harry "Hap" Hacklebee.
- Cuteness Proximity: Twice the things that drop down the transfer tubes have caused him to devolve into squeeing. Once it was baby bunnies, the other time it was baby birds.
- Hair Reboot: When he gets his unibrow and mustache shaved off by a vacuum, he proceeds to go into an angry Luminescent Blush to grow them back.
- Ironic Nickname: His hard shell has earned him the nickname 'Hap', short for Happy.
- Mean Boss: Hap is ridiculously short-tempered, shouting at his workers and demanding them around, though it's mostly because he's stressed out from his tight work schedule.
- Workaholic: He's constantly having to answer questions from kids every episode and doesn't make a lot of time to relax. Word of God states that he's responsible for way too much with too few resources, has a fixed budget and tight timeline and sending teams to the Outer World is expensive and time-consuming.
Hub and Bub

- Identical Twin ID Tag: Hub is yellow and Bub is orange.
- One-Word Vocabulary: Their vocabulary is limited to the last thing they've heard.
- Those Two Guys: Their scenes preface the song breaks of the episodes, with small vignettes at their station that relate to the song in question.
- The Hyena: The two are almost always giggling, often at their own mischievous handiwork.
Franklin
The lead engineer of the Fun Fact Machine.
- Once per Episode: Every episode he's seen reading out a random fact from the Fun Fact Machine.

- Lazy Bum: They do the bare minimum so as to not get in trouble and would rather laze around all day.

- Full Name: Ada Pattycakes
- Hamster-Wheel Power: The Math Machine is powered by Pythagoras running on a wheel.
- Nerd Glasses: Ada wears grey thin rimmed glasses and is obsessed with math.
Eleanor

- Amusing Injuries: Every segment she's hurt in some amusing way, like being blown by a fan or having uncontrollable hiccups.
Dink and Doink

- Identical Twin ID Tag: Dink is purple with separated eyebrows and Doink is yellow with a unibrow.
