Characters appearing in American Satan and its follow up series, Paradise City.

The Relentless

     Johnny Faust
Played by Andy Biersack

Frontman for The Relentless.

  • Addled Addict : Part of Johnny's Descent into Addiction includes a night when he's in heroin withdrawal, too sick to perform.
Elias: Shoot him up...and get him home.
  • Becoming the Mask : When the band starts, Satanism is just a gimmick. Until it's not.
  • Deal with the Devil : As an Expy of the Faust character, Johnny is the most susceptible to bad influences.
  • Momma's Boy : Johnny is devoted to his mother and has a close relationship with her. Averted in the series, when Kat is Adapted Out.
  • Rags to Riches : The film is the story of the rise and fall, after Johnny leaves the Midwest to find stardom in LA.

     Leo Donovan
Played by Ben Bruce

Guitarist for The Relentless.

     Vic Lakota

Played by Boo Boo Stewart
Guitarist for The Relentless

     Dylan James
Played by Sebastian Gregory

Drummer for The Relentless

     Lily Mayflower
Played by Jesse Sullivan

Bassist for The Relentless

  • Depraved Bisexual : Zig-Zagged. At first, she claims not to like boys...until she tempts Johnny with heroin and gets him to cheat on Gretchen.
  • Functional Addict : Unlike Johnny, Lily can always get motivated to perform, and has been using heroin occasionally for some time.
  • Girl on Girl Is Hot : How she tempts Johnny a second time in Paradise City.
  • Insistent Terminology : She prefers "bordello" to brothel.
  • Meaningful Name : "Lily" is clearly a Shout-Out to Lillith, a Hebrew demon and Adam's first wife, who was expelled from the Garden of Eden for insisting on being on top during sex.
  • The Smurfette Principle : The only woman (and a genderfluid one at that) in a group of guys.
  • Unproblematic Prostitution : The only issue with Lily's job in a high end brothel is that she doesn't tell anyone what she does. Everyone is cool with it when they find out. She also sets clear boundaries and is fully in control.

     Ricky Rollins
Played by John Bradley

Band manager for The Relentless

  • Blatant Lies : How he and Leo convince Dylan to travel to LA with them.
  • Break the Cutie: Poor Ricky gets pushed out of the way as the band gets important, leaving him lost.
  • Fat and Skinny : The "fat" to Leo's "skinny."
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners : He and Leo have known each other a long time.
  • Hookers and Blow : How he meets his unfortunate end.
  • Meaningful Name : It's not stated but the character might be named for Henry Rollins and possibly "Ricky," the protagonist of Skid Row's "18 And Life," which plays on the film's soundtrack, or one of several rock'n'roll "Ricky"s, including Ricky Nelson or "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" by Steely Dan.
  • Those Two Guys : Rarely seen without Leo near him.

     Adam Stone
Played by Rhys Coiro
Manager for The Relentless

  • Law of Inverse Fertility : Adam and his wife Janis are trying to get pregnant. We're introduced to them at a fertility clinic called Sowing The Seeds Of Love (a Shout-Out to the song of the same name by Tears For Fears).

Johnny's Relationships

     Kat Faust

Played by Denise Richards

  • Absurdly Youthful Mother : Downplayed. Denise Richards is old enough to be Andy Biersack's mother, but she doesn't look old enough.
  • Adapted Out : While she plays a secondary but important role in the film, as one of Johnny's moral compasses, Kat is absent from the series.

     Gretchen
Played by Olivia Culpo

  • The Ingenue : She practically glows.
  • Morality Pet : For Johnny. She is the reason he decides to clean up and follow a sober path.

     Vivian

  • Ascended Extra : In the film, she's only known as "The Virgin," but has a substantial part in the series.
  • Burger Fool : Works in a Subway-style fast food restaurant.
  • Can't Get Away with Nuthin' : Had sex once, got pregnant with a rock star who wants nothing to do with her.
  • Nature Abhors a Virgin : In the film, Vivian (only credited as "The Virgin") dreamed of losing her virginity to Johnny. Her mother (also not given a name in the film) manipulated their way onto the tour bus, and Johnny fulfilled the dream. It went about as well as you'd expect.

The Business

     Elias

     Maya
Played by Drea de Matteo

     Oliver Ostergaard
Played by Ryan Hurst

  • Noodle Incident : Had a falling out with Elias but it's never said why.
