Main Characters
Brie Faulkner
- Ascended Extra: She and Alluna are minor characters in the Visual Novel Max's Big Bust: A Captain Nekorai Tale.
- Cute Clumsy Girl: Subverted. While working at Coffee Shrine she puts on a, very convincing, "clumsy girl" act.
- Goth: She was goth in high school and wanted to try the look again after graduating, but considers it to much work to do so during the events of the game.
- Fanservice: Her magical girl outfit completely exposes her midriff as well as barely covering her breasts.
- Fluffy Tamer: Fights with an axolotl-monster that she named JayBubs.
- Heart Is an Awesome Power: While the ability to summon grilled cheese sandwiches might seem worthless at first, it is actually quite useful when your party needs a heal or you have a sandwich loving axolotl-monster as a pet/ally.
- I Think You Broke Her: After Max reveals to Brie that she is basically immortal she goes into BSoD mode.
- Magic Staff: Her basic attack has her hitting the enemy with her staff.
- Magical Girl: After she and Alluna summoned the Succubus Lilith, Brie either ate Lilith's sandwich or it ended up being a magical catalyst that then vanished after Lilith transformed Alluna. Either way, this would turn her into a magical girl as well, but with the power to summon grilled cheese sandwiches which have healing properties.
- Meaningful Name: Brie has the power to summon cheese sandwiches.
- Pink Heroine: Her hair and parts of her magical girl outfit are pink.
- Who Names Their Kid "Dude"?: Her father thought Brie was the French way of spelling Brianna.
Alluna
- A-Cup Angst: She feels people regard her as this (she's actually decently busty), though she's sure that's only because she often next to the very busty Brie.
- Ascended Extra: She and Brie are minor characters in the Visual Novel Max's Big Bust: A Captain Nekorai Tale.
- Cosmic Motifs: The moon is her main motif but she also has some general celestial motif going on.
- Fanservice: Her magical girl and casual outfit both expose her midriff.
- Heroes Fight Barehanded: She mainly fights with her fists.
- Magical Girl: After Alluna and Brie summoned the Succubus Lilith, she turned Alluna into a magical girl with divine powers.
- Succubi and Incubi: During her second encounter with Lilith she is given a succubus form in addition to her magical girl powers.

JayBubs
- Facial Dialogue: His whole dialogue consists of facial expressions that no one but Brie is able to understand.
- Fluffy the Terrible: Everyone, except Brie and Kitty, think that JayBubs is a horrifying monster that sooner or later will try to eat something other than cheese sandwiches.
- Mini-Mecha: He has a mini-Mecha that he may or may not have build himself which he uses to play Mermaid Spikers.
- Trademark Favorite Food: He loves Brie's cheese sandwiches.
Lorilynn 'Lori' Vixx
- Forced Transformation: After transforming herself into a mermaid, she now always transforms into one when water touches her skin.
- Mad Scientist: Most of her work involves transformation serums.
- Mission Control: She never actively participates in combat, but informs the party about enemy strengths and weaknesses via scans.
- Passionate Sports Girl: She is very passionate about Mermaid Spikers, even winning a championship before the events of the game.
- Sleeping with the Boss: Discussed. Should Brie start a relationship with Lori, she first ponders the implications of having a relationship with someone who is basically her boss, but there are no further conflicts beyond that.
- Underwater Base: During two of Lori's "Heart Beats" events, she and Brie visit her secret underwater base.
- Water-Triggered Change: Risks turning into a mermaid if so much as a single drop of liquid touches her skin. This makes drinking an everyday risk, and she can forget about even going outside in the rain; a drop touching her legs is all it takes. While she can revert at will, liquids will always set off the mermaid form instantly.

- Casting a Shadow: She has darkness based powers.
- Dark Is Not Evil: While she was one of the villains in Max's Big Bust, she is one of the heroes in Alluna and Brie and mainly fights with darkness based powers.
- Hot Witch: In addition to being a witch, Brie also calls her outfit a "Sexy witch uniform".
- Must Make Amends: Wants to make amends for unknowingly helping a mad scientist to open a gateway to a world full of bloodthisty monster girls and tentacle monster.
Natara Couturier
- Curtains Match the Window: Both her eyes and hair are black.
- Dishing Out Dirt: Due to exposure to magical chemicals, she developed earth based powers which allow her to throw rocks.
- Distracted by the Sexy: One of her skills has her distract a group of enemies with a sexy stance.
- The Dreaded: She is feared by Axon city's underworld.
- Hot Witch: Technically she's a witch, but she prefers a magical girl-style outfit.
Max Newling
Protagonist of Max's Big Bust and Max's Big Bust 2 and one of the party members in Alluna and Brie after her transfer to the Magical Response Unit.

Eldoris
- Cute Monster Girl: She is a tako monster girl.
- Dual Wielding: She fights with two tridents.
- Older Than They Look: She is 39. Monster girls don't physically age once they are fully grown.
- Shock Collar: Lori puts one on her, to prevent her from escaping or killing a member of the Magical Response Unit, during her time as a captive by the MRU.
Demetrius
- Can't Hold His Liquor: He has a very low alcohol tolerance.
- Fish out of Water: He has a difficult time adjusting to Axon City after he and Jeanne are brought there by the MRU.
- Friendly Pirate: He is a pirate Captain and acts very cordial towards Brie and the other members of the MRU and after he learns about the pirates from Brie's dimension he is appalled by the atrocities they have committed.
- Gay Option: Inverted. Out of the ten romance candidates, that Brie can choose from, he is the only one who is male.

The hosts of the show "Max Heart Minute".- Curtains Match the Window: Ashley's hair and eyes both have an auburn colour.
- Disposable Intern: They treat their Interns terribly and have no qualms about using them as meat shields to save themselves from Queen PriScylla's monster girls.
- Lingerie Scene: When it is raining and the two of them really don't want to get out of bed, Ashley will film herself and Chloe in their underwear much to the chagrin of the latter. Can also fall under Comedic Underwear Exposure.
- Malaproper: During one of their Tokugawa specials, Ashley says "Connie Chihuahua" instead of "Konichiwa".
- Saving Christmas: Off-screen. Ashley single-handedly saved Christmas and met and married Santa during a Max Heart Minute Christmas-special that was never seen on-screen because Brie was stuck in a lamp.
- Still Believes in Santa: Ashley still believes in Santa Claus and is even more convinced that he exists after the discovery that magic is real. Turns out, she was right.
- Talk Like a Pirate: They talk like pirates during their episodes covering the "Booga Wooga Bush Reserve".
- Witty Banter: Basically every episode of "Max Heart Minute" includes some form of banter between Ashley & Chloe.
Jeanne
Demetrius's first mate.
- Friendly Pirate: Like Demetrius she is quite friendly towards other if a bit more snarky.
Matt
- Gender Bender: As it turns out Matt is actually Tilly and was cursed by Lilith after summoning her and making her miss the live vote of the show Sing For Your Live. He now identifies as genderfluid.
- Sex Shifter: He is able to switch between male and female at will, with some restrictions.
- Shark Man: Insted of having a normal fish tail in his merman form, he has a shark tail.
- When the Clock Strikes Twelve: Brie finds out that Matt and Tilly are the same person after he turns into her at midnight.
Camille Pandarai
- Alpha Bitch: She is a typical rich mean girl who makes fun of Brie every chance she gets.
- Dehumanizing Insult: Hates Goths to the point of declaring that they aren't people.
- Girlish Pigtails: She has a pair of pigtails which she wears in the "Twin Drill Pigtails" hairstyle.
- Opposing Sports Team: Part of the "Axon City Country Club" the biggest rivals of "Lori's Legends".
Tiffany Boorolong
- Alpha Bitch: Just like Camille she is a rich mean girl, who loves to put others down.
- Hiding Behind Your Bangs: Her right eye is always covered by her hair.
- Karma Houdini: She once broke a girl's arm during a Mermaid Spikers match, but it was ruled an accident. It wasn't.
- Opposing Sports Team: Like Camille she is also part of the "Axon City Country Club".
Tilda 'Tilly'
- Gender Bender: As it turns out Tilly is actually Matt who was cursed by Lilith after summoning her and making her miss the live vote of the show Sing For Your Live. She now identifies as genderfluid.

- Big Bad: She wants to invade the surface world with her army of monster girls and is the final boss of the game.
- Godiva Hair: While she is partially clothed, her beasts are completely exposed, with only her hair covering her nipples.
- My Rules Are Not Your Rules: Upon achieving God power, during the second battle against her, she stops following the turn based combat system and starts attacking whenever she feels like it, requiring you to make haste to beat her.
