Raymond Waizen
Aleste Gaiden
Aleste 2
- Arch-Enemy: DIA 51 is this to Ray.
- Hot-Blooded: He's described as having a hot temper, in addition to his piloting skills.
- The One Guy: The sole male Player Character in the main Aleste canon.note
- The Protagonist: Ray is the main focus of the first Aleste.
- Ret-Canon: He isn't in the original SMS version of Aleste, where the pilot is a generic human character; rather he was introduced for the MSX version. Aleste 2 would then make this version of the game canon, featuring Ray showing up in the intro cutscene and as Ellinor's father.
- Sudden Sequel Death Syndrome: Unfortunately, not long after his debut in the first game, he is unceremoniously killed off in the second.
Yuri Lennox
Aleste 2
- Damsel in Distress: She is injured and hospitalized at the beginning of the game, and she doesn't fully recover until after Ray destroys DIA 51.
- Official Couple: With Ray, being Happily Married and having a daughter.
- Ret-Canon: Like Ray, she is not present in the original SMS version of Aleste, having instead been introduced in the MSX port.
DIA 51
- A.I. Is a Crapshoot: Goes rogue due to a virus infecting it.
- Arch-Enemy: To Ray.
- Big Bad: Of the first game and Gaiden.
Aleste 2
Ellinor Waizen
M.U.S.H.A.
GG Aleste
Aleste Branch
- Action Girl: Unlike Yuri, who was a Damsel in Distress, Ellinor takes the fight to the enemy herself.
- Arch-Enemy: Gaizel, for murdering Ray.
- Dub Name Change: Called "Terri" in the English version of M.U.S.H.A.
- Expy: Her Aleste 2 design is reminiscent of Noa Izumi.
- Iconic Sequel Character: She debuted in Aleste 2 and is easily the most notable character in the series.
- Like Father, Like Son: In Aleste 2, she is the daughter of Ray and Yuri and inherits her father's piloting prowess.
- The Protagonist: She is the main character of Aleste 2, GG Aleste, M.U.S.H.A., and Aleste Branch.
- Shut Up, Hannibal!: Gives one of these to Brahwell before pumping him full of lead."Ja retsu kun janaiyo!" note
- Sole Survivor: In M.U.S.H.A., as the rest of her squad gets wiped within the first few seconds of the game.
Brahwell
Rosa
- Karma Houdini: The only surviving member of the Vagant, as she is shown attending the funeral for Ray and picking up one of the flowers, though it is implied she has developed a Heel–Face Turn.
- The Unfought: The only member of the Vagant Ellinor doesn’t fight.
Gaizel
- Arch-Enemy: To Ellinor, for murdering her father Ray.
- Big Bad: Of Aleste 2.
- Final Boss
- Greater-Scope Villain: He was responsible for DIA 51's malfunction.
- Knight of Cerebus: His first appearance, which includes killing off Ray followed by him obliterating New York before overrunning Earth, marks the second game's Darker and Edgier tone. Not to mention he was indirectly responsible for DIA 51's malfunction.
- Nothing Can Stop Us Now!: Says this after killing Ray and before attacking Earth in the game's opening sequence.
- Plant Aliens
GG Aleste 2
Alice Pfeiffer Waizen
- Action Girl: Proving that Ace Pilots run in the Waizen family, Ellinor's cousin is also capable of waging a one-woman war on the enemy.
- Older Than She Looks: Downplayed. She looks the same age as the other protagonists in the GG Aleste game, but is 22 years old instead of a teenager.
Power Strike II
Pothunter
- Bounty Hunter: He shoots down Sky Pirates for the reward money.
- No Name Given: His name is never disclosed, only referred to as "Pothunter".
- The One Guy: For the Aleste Collection. The Waizen family are all female, and he’s male.
- Only in It for the Money: He doesn't have any particularly heroic motives for shooting down his enemies. He's shooting down sky pirates for the same reason that said pirates are conducting their dirty business: Making money in the midst of a global economic recession.
GG Aleste 3
Luna Waizen
- Action Girl: Just like Ellinor and Alice before her.
- Ambiguously Related: Her relation to Ellinor and Alice (e.g. whether she's a sibling, cousin, or child to one of them) is left intentionally unclear.
- Hospital Epilogue: If the game is beaten on Normal, we see her recovering on a wheelchair in the hospital and not looking the least bit amused. The look on her face even screams, “What the Hell, Player?”.
- Improbable Age: Luna is a candidate to become a pilot at a mere 16 years old.
- Inconsistent Spelling: The Aleste Collection website romanizes her name as "Lluna Wizn".
- Selfie Fiend: The Special Mode ending shows her taking a selfie on the beach.
- Sole Survivor: She is the only survivor of the attack on the Earth Orbital Army Lunar Defense Corps' base.
- Tears of Joy: Sheds these in the ending upon seeing a news report of her victory against the terrorists being broadcasted around the world.
