    In General
  • Most Writers Are Writers: All characters in this country are either novelists or poets.
  • No One Sees the Boss: This country deserves a special mention, as it would have averted this if Itō Hirofumi wasn't scrapped from the game.
  • Schizo Tech: This country is the most technologically developed in Hinomoto, and given the size of the world, it's a little weird to see this nation with its Westernized architecture and modern transportation among a bunch of agricultural feudal lands. Don't they ever export their technology?

    Natsume Sōseki
    Akutagawa Ryūnosuke

Voiced by: Kazuhiko Inoue
Rarity (Base): Very High
Element (Base): Wind
A suave and charming writer. He is the source of inspiration for and object of idolization of Atsushi.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Aside from his profession, he doesn't have a whole lot in common with his historical counterpart. The real Akutagawa had an extremely disastrous life that culminated in a bleak worldview expressed in his works and eventually death by suicide; this guy is a selfless and affable gentleman with a positive disposition.
  • Affectionate Nickname: "Ryū-chan" by Dazai.
  • Coat Cape: His long coat is left draped over his shoulders.
  • Cool Big Bro: He manages to have Atsushi go gaga over him, though he doesn't seem particularly bothered by this. He is generally a friendly and brotherly guy who enjoys giving guidance to inexperienced authors.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Tororo, sticky grated yam.
  • Heterosexual Life-Partners: With Dazai.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: Even among the Utsutsu guys with their Western clothing, he stands out as the most neatly and elegantly dressed of them all.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Amberjack teriyaki; Truth in Television.
  • Western Zodiac: Pisces (March 1).

Rarity (Base): High
Element (Base): Light
A highly sensitive and emotional amateur writer with dorky tendencies and idolizes Ryūnosuke to… incredible extents.
    Edogawa Ranpo

Rarity (Base): Medium
Element (Base): Dark
A Mystery Writer Detective who doesn't only write mystery books but also solves crimes. Not only that, he's also obsessed with his work as a detective, to the point where he acts like an excited little boy when presented with a case to solve and whines when it's "too peaceful" and no crimes are taking place.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Leek.
  • Hime Cut: He has the unaltered hairstyle, straight hair, frontal bangs and side locks and whatnot, which adds to his gentlemanly appearance. The style is made very clear in his Yin Namidaame, both Awakened Kugutsu and normal Kasōsai forms. Averted in his Yin Kasōsai form in favor of a side-swept look.
  • High-Class Glass: Yin Kasōsai form.
  • Kimono Fanservice: The normal and Yang Kasōsai, Yang Namidaame and both Awakened forms of his Kugutsu skin. Especially the Yin one.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy
  • Mystery Writer Detective: He's basically what happens when you take that trope and turn it into a character. He is obsessed with mysteries, at one point hiding Sōseki's cat and preparing a riddle for him to solve.
  • Sadist: According to his in-game profile, he has a sadistic writing style and his books are absolutely scary and grotesque. Keep in mind that this is a nice and easygoing guy.
  • Sherlock Homage: He wears the infamous hat in the Yang Awakened form of the default skin.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Steamed dumplings.
  • Western Zodiac: Libra (October 21), and fits the "justice-doer" personality type.
    Nakahara Chūya

Rarity (Base): Medium
Element (Base): Fire
A short-tempered author with a severe case of height insecurity.
  • Berserk Button: Being called "tiny" or any variation thereof, even when the person saying that is obviously not talking about him. At one point, the heroine calls him fudemame, meaning "an avid writer" and he is pissed thinking she called him mame – a bean.
  • Distressed Dude: For most of the main Suigetsu story in which he and later Teika are caught trying to pick an old man's wife's hydrangeas.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: He's frighteningly easy to piss off; all it takes is the word "small" or its synonyms within his earshot.
  • The Napoleon: He's 156cm tall and perpetually grouchy about it. He's stated to often wear padded boots to hide this, so it means he's probably even shorter than he appears in the picture shown here.
  • Starter Mon: He is available to select for free after clearing the tutorial.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Leek.
  • Western Zodiac: Taurus (April 29), and is artistic (for being a writer) and stubborn.
    Masaoka Shiki

Rarity (Base): Medium
Element (Base): Light
A gentle, soft-spoken, chronically ill haiku poet who enjoys baseball despite his poor health. He is best friends with Sōseki.
    Mori Ōgai

Voiced by: Kento Hama
Rarity (Base): Medium
Element (Base): Water
A romance writer with a sweet and childish personality. He is good at courting women, yet fails to take proper care of himself and is a very disorganized Genius Slob.
  • Coat Cape: He wears his coat like this, though he doesn't have the personality commonly associated with it.
  • Curtains Match the Window: He has brown hair and brown eyes.
  • Fourth-Date Marriage: At the end of his Yang route, he asks the heroine to come with him to another award ceremony as his wife and she accepts. Keep in mind that they just met a little more than one award ceremony ago. It is unknown whether they actually marry later.
  • Genius Slob: He may be a successful writer, but his apartment is a big mess. This isn't helped by the fact he thinks being disorganized is okay because "nobody dies."
Sōseki: (sees his apartment for the first time) Has a storm gone through here?
  • The Glasses Come Off: In one epilogue of the Yin route of his Valentine's Day story, he asks the heroine to take his glasses off before he has sex with her.
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: "Vita sexualis!" in the middle of battle, anyone?
  • Mad Doctor: He fits the trope to some extent, as his in-game profile states he used to be a doctor, yet seeing his childish personality and the fact he doesn't exactly have the best hygiene…
  • Sweet Tooth: He enjoys sweets a lot.
Shiki: (in his Romanesque story) I'm not like Ōgai who thinks it's okay as long as it's sweet.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: He likes sweets in general, but his favorite food is manjū chazuke; Truth in Television.
  • Western Zodiac: Aquarius (February 17), and is also a bit of a Cloudcuckoolander.
    Kitamura Tōkoku

  • Verbal Tic: His speech almost always ends with a tilde or a star.
    Ishikawa Takuboku
    Dazai Osamu

A seemingly decent author, if a bit stoic, but is in fact a very suicidal man with a highly bleak worldview. He is good friends with Ryūnosuke.
