Retsuko tells Ton exactly what she thinks of him.

As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.

TBS Shorts

  • Possibly the most awesome moment from the original shorts is when Retsuko gets a New Years fortune predicting bad luck in everything, but she is determined to not let that discourage her and tells fate to eat her fist.

Netflix Series Season 1

  • Retsuko talking back to Tsubone in episode 3.
"If you thought all that... maybe you should have done your job and checked the ledger yourself."
  • In Episode 5, Fenneko puts on a deerstalker cap and investigates why Retsuko wasn't going out with her and Haida as much anymore. She discovered she was doing Yoga two times a week. The detail she put into her investigation freaks Haida out.
  • One episode has Tsubone asking Haida where Retsuko is so she can open a jar of her preserves; she gets a little unhinged, laughing maniacally at the thought of torturing her with it. Later on, the entire office is trying to open one of the jars and failing - Retsuko, who has been taking yoga classes, takes it off with ease and sends Tsubone into shock.
  • Washimi gets her reading the CEO of the company the riot act when he tries to brush off reports of Ton's abuse, reminding him that Retsuko could easily put up allegations of the abuse on the Internet, which would drag the company's name through the mud.
  • In order to figure out who reported him to the CEO, Ton acts nice to everyone. After seeing that Retsuko is the only one not freaking out from his complete 180 in personality, he is able to deduce that she's most likely the one who did it.
  • Probably the most cathartic moment is Retsuko and Ton's "rap battle" at the staff party. After an utterly humiliating diss track by Ton in front of the entire staff, Retsuko responds by calmly requesting her favorite track, and then obliterates Ton - and the entire room - with death metal. Never bring rap to a metal fight. After that? Ton ends up giving Retsuko some mad respect in his own jerkass way and ends up being too drunk to remember the entire event. While Ton and Retsuko still end up at odds with each other, it wasn't as bad as it was a few episodes ago.
  • In Episode 10, accounting is down four people (three unavailable, and one so lovestruck as to be useless at work) at the end of the fiscal quarter. In response, Ton actually buckles down and flies through his work. On an abacus, no less!

Netflix Series Season 2

  • Ookami showing admiration for Kabae managing to be both a good employee and a good mother shows that, for all that she's a talkative gossip, Kabae has her life put together.
  • Anai busts out an awesome song while cooking yakisoba for the Accounting Department's festival stall.
  • After getting some encouragement from Ton of all people, Retsuko finally tells Tadano that she wants to get married by bringing him to her favorite karaoke bar and screaming it at him full blast.

Netflix Series Season 3

  • After a pep talk from Washimi, Retsuko puts her foot down and takes charge managing the finances for the OTMGirls. She uses her accounting knowledge and creative thinking to find ways for them to save money and create a social media presence. All of her hard work gets the band to turn a profit for once and Hyodo and the girls begin to respect Retsuko as one of the team instead of just treating her like a gofer.
  • When Hyodo makes a big gamble on Retsuko's death metal skills, by playing a song meant for her during a concert, he makes it clear she has to either get up the stage and perform or ruin OTMGirls' concert. Needless to say, once she finally got up there, her debut performance blew everyone out of the water and IT. WAS. EPIC. Hyodo's gamble paid off handsomely.
    • Even got this little piece from him, when Retsuko finally performed, giving an epic Title Drop:
Hyodo: That's right. Let it out. Scream! And never forget this day. Let out the roar that comes from deep within you! This will always be the night, that "Aggretsuko" was born!.
  • Retsuko finally stands up to Ton, walking away from him in the middle of a scolding, and telling him that her shift is over and she doesn't have to stick around and listen to him.
  • Haida saving Retsuko's life by tackling the stalker trying to stab her. Especially when you consider that he didn't know who this person was, or that Retsuko and the other OTMGirls had been dealing with a stalker for so long. All he knew was that she was in danger, and he had to do something.
  • With a huge amount of confidence, Haida takes Retsuko to the karaoke bar and sings out his frustrations, in a punk format about how much he wishes to be with her, but also how she's cowardly to stand up from anything and not give up. In return...Retsuko does the same to him in a metal format, ripping out how Haida relies on an app to declare them soul mates and how she doesn't need anyone due to the world being so cruel to her... Which only leads to him grabbing onto her and assure her that she does need (and has!) people to help her through her journey and...
    • Noteworthy that this is Haida's most awesome moment to date. No longer shackled by his fears and insecurities, he bared out all his secrets and feelings on Retsuko. He may have gotten rejected and berated at the same time, but they got her back from her slump, and with a more positive outlook on life at work, while he was able to finally be honest to himself.

Netflix Series Season 4

  • Ton fighting for his employees, even though it means getting on Himuro's bad side.
  • It is a bit of Laser-Guided Karma that Ton receives comeuppance for his season 1 and 2 harassment of Retsuko. Himuro finds out from a drunk Retsuko and Fenneko about the allegations, and uses them to blackmail Ton into taking a demeaning promotion. He gives an apt What the Hell, Hero? that Ton may care about his employees, but he doesn't seem to treat them well. Then ironically, Retsuko helps out Ton when he's hiding a lower-tier job from his daughters and schemed to get his job back.
  • It took a while but Retsuko and Haida start dating.
  • Haida corners Tadano at a restaurant, challenging him to an arm wrestling match with one condition: Tadano loses, and he never gets to call Retsuko "Retsy" again. This causes Tadano (who's a slacker that doesn't look like much) to immediately overpower and defeat Haida, who at this point had been working out heavily with Himuro to get in his good graces.
  • Haida confronting Himuro while he rages like Retsuko.
Haida: If you think that I'm gonna stand back and let you put someone else through this hell, then you and I have a problem! For once in my life, I know that I'm the right man for the job.
Himuro: You're picking a fight with the wrong person.
Haida: I'm pretty sure you're the guy.
    • Credit where it's due, Himuro bursts into music in turn, not giving up for even a second. He may be a manipulative prick but he's undeniably a manipulative prick with conviction.
  • Retsuko helping Haida with defeating Himuro.
Retsuko: Why haven't you beat him yet?! DO I HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING MYSELF?!
Fenneko: OH YEAH! TAKE HIM OUT!
    Ton: DO IT, CALENDAR!
    • Related to this, Retsuko's Metal Scream is powerful enough to blast both Haida and Himuro (along with all the furniture in the office) out the window and into the street. Overkill? Possibly. Awesome? Yes.
  • Haida resigns at the end of the season because he can't live with what he did under Himuro's thumb even if it was to save his coworkers. No one would blame him, and his high school buddy pointed out that it looks worse if you're jobless, but he decided to try and clean his slate.

Netflix Series Season 5

  • Haida has been in a funk ever since his brother tricked him into accepting money from their father and mocking him about it. But when he gets a call from Retsuko who's walking home from work and thinks she's being followed, he immediately gets off his ass and rushes over.
  • When Jiro finds out Retsuko is running for the Diet, he calls Haida and interrogates him about it over the phone. Haida starts off trying to defuse the situation, telling Jiro "we both know she's not gonna win" until Jiro asks the Armor-Piercing Question: "Is this a joke to you?" All at once, Haida has a sudden "Eureka!" Moment as he realizes it's not, and says in a very quiet voice, "No." After that moment he becomes Retsuko's committed hype man and true believer.
  • It's implied Retsuko's campaign was far more of a success than anyone'd thought. Whereas Jiro was expecting to be a shoe-in for his father's seat, instead he had to think on his feet and declare he was going to endorse a fairly radical policy that his father definitely didn't approve of. Even though Retsuko didn't win, she struck a blow for her generation.
