Quarter Of Silence provides examples of:

  • Action Prologue: The film begins in an flashback 8 years ago as a young Touma Tachihara runs from an unknown criminal in the snow and slips off a small cliff. This is then promptly followed by a sequence in the present where Conan attempts to prevent the explosion of the newly-established Touto Line.
  • Anger Born of Worry: Haibara gets really upset at the Detective Boys and Touma when they run into a cave after being attacked by a rifle wielder. Haibara’s yelling even scares Ayumi.
    • This is Conan’s usual MO towards the Detective Boys when they behave dangerously and he showcases this when they total a snowmobile and get stranded. During the aforementioned cave scene, he begins to scold the kids until Haibara quickly mentions she beat him to it.
  • Big Bad Ensemble:
    • Keisuke Yamao was responsible for the Touto Line bombing, Hikawa's murder, the destruction of the cellphone tower, and the bombing of Kitanosawa Dam.
    • There's also Mizuki Toono, who was responsible for the death of her sister (although she claims she didn't mean to), and has been monitoring Touma's situation since to take steps to prevent him from testifying about this, as he's the sole witness to it happening.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Mizuki Toono shoots Yamao in the shoulder when he tries to murder Conan.
  • Cool Board: Professor Agasa’s newest invention, the Turbo Engine Snowboard is a snowboard version of Conan’s Turbo Engine Skateboard and is Conan’s primary means of transport throughout the snowy backdrop.
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Yamao gives Conan a surprisingly grisly beating when he catches him on a bridge, even stomping on him five times.
  • Not So Stoic: Team Mom Haibara noticeably loses her cool when the Detective Boys flee from their mysterious attacker into a cave, but quickly calms down.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Yamao does not even blink before beating the crap out of Conan, then trying to shoot him. (Thankfully Toono shoots and injures Yamao before he can.) Or attempting to murder Touma 8 years ago. Mizuki Toono only meant to scare off Touma who was with the Detective Boys which is why she fired a rifle at him and never meant to hurt him.
