Go To

Tik Tak Tail is an Indian slapstick cartoon produced by Cosmos-Maya that stars a tiger named Tak, his sentient tail named... well, Tail, and a rabbit named Tik whom Tak spends his time trying to catch and eat. Tik outwits Tak and Tail in many different ways, often involving him distracting Tail.

The series premiered on the Indian channel Pogo in 2017 and made its Cartoon Network India debut in 2019, with the series itself running until the latter of those two years.

The series has been made available on YouTube by WildBrain.

Tik Tak Tail provides examples of the following tropes:

  • Alliterative Title: Tik Tak Tail repeats the letter "T" three times.
  • Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: Tak is a blue tiger and Tik is a yellow rabbit.
  • Ass in a Lion Skin: In "Rabbit Tak", the main point of the plot is that Tak disguises himself as a rabbit in order to infiltrate Tik's family reunion. Tak is able to see through the trick and finds clever ways to get back at Tak.
  • Baseball Episode: Or more accurately, a Cricket Episode, since cricket is the go-to batting sport in India rather than baseball. In "Cricket Crisis", Tak and Tail play a game of cricket with Tik and Jolly, with both teams tinkering with the willow and ball to give them an advantage against the other team.
  • Be the Ball: In "Rabbit Tak", Tak and Tail chase Tik from India to Africa, where both end up in a dark cave and Tik gives Tak what looks like a match to use to see around the interior. It's actually a lion's tail, and the lion is so mad that he bunches Tak and Tail into a ball and throws them through the tunnel they came from, bouncing them all the way back to India.
  • Close on Title: The series does this within the episodes themselves, having Tak be squashed by the series logo at the end of each episode.
  • Delicious Distraction: Tik frequently uses carrots to distract Tail, who considers them his favorite food.
  • Disembodied Eyebrows: All the characters have floating eyebrows.
  • A Dog Named "Dog": Tak's tail is explicitly named Tail.
  • Ear Wings: Tik can use his ears like wings to fly.
  • A Head at Each End: Tak and Tail are a variant, in that Tail isn't directly the opposite end of Tak but rather simply his tail. Nevertheless, Tail has a face of his own, like Tak.
  • Meat-O-Vision: In "Rabbit Tak", Tak imagines twice that the rabbits are large slabs of meat as he drools over wanting to eat them.
  • Mime and Music-Only Cartoon: The series does not have any spoken dialogue, instead hinging on the visuals to tell the stories.
  • Multi-Character Title: Tik, Tak, and Tail are all characters in the series and named in the title.
  • Sapient Eat Sapient: Tak the sapient tiger wants to eat Tik the equally sapient rabbit.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Tail loves carrots so much that Tik uses them to distract him often.
  • Vegetarian Carnivore: In the episode "Tak Turns Vegetarian", Tik gives a fake doctor's diagnosis to Tak the tiger that requires him to eat only vegetables such as carrots to cure himself. While Tak does try a carrot and dislikes it, his sentient tail is more than happy with the deal due to carrots being his favorite food.
  • Versus Character Splash:
    • In "Shooting Range", a "Tak and Tail vs. Tik" character splash appears before the characters start their shooting competition.
    • Another appears in "Cricket Crisis", this time with Tak and Tail vs. Tik and Jolly, before their cricket match.
