 +5 (yeas:7 nays:2) Rename this trope to Overestimating The Audience, and clearly make it about writers assuming the audience will "get" an important part of the narrative but it flies right over their heads. As stands, Viewers Are Geniuses is being misused to mean Genius Bonus in most of its pot holes.
