Nightmare Fuel is the only one being misused. All references to High Octane Nightmare Fuel are correct to the trope. The only wrongly placed examples come from people putting non-accidental examples into Nightmare Fuel.

Reasons not to rename only Nightmare Fuel:

Absent Nightmare Fuel, nothing justifies High Octane Nightmare Fuel's unwieldy name.

High Octane Nightmare Fuel's name currently derives from Nightmare Fuel's. Renaming the latter but not the former would leave HONF as a reference to an obsolete trope name.
Thousands of wicks are currently examples of HONF but potholed to Nightmare Fuel. Renaming HONF as "Nightmare Fuel" will direct the majority of the current NF wicks to the correct page.
High Octane Nightmare Fuel is both long and unwieldy as a name. A more direct name will net better search results.
Simply calling HONF "scary stuff" would make more sense, as the page simply lists scary stuff with no rhyme or reason. Nightmare Fuel is a specific occurrence.
Nightmare Fuel is the direct counterpart to Defanged Horrors, High Octane Nightmare Fuel has more in common with Tear Jerker than Nightmare Fuel.
