** The constant jabs at Paul Walker in the ''Fast and Furious Showdown'' video quickly became awkward when Walker died in a car crash only months after the video was made.
** A RunningGag during Rustlemania is to just assume every single legacy wrestler is "dead" simply just out of ignorance for not knowing what they've been doing post-wrestling career. A small few wrestlers that they joked about "being dead" (such as the Wrestling/UltimateWarrior) have since died in the years following those videos.

* GoodBadBugs: Possibly due to their experience as quality assurance testers, the Friends just ''love'' running into any kind of bug, error or crash. On occasion, such as with their ''VideoGame/DeusExHumanRevolution'' playthrough, they also recall memories of amusing bugs they ran into during their QA days.
* GrowingTheBeard: They seemed to grow the beard when Woolie and Liam became permanent members of the group.
** Or arguably when their full LP's and channel started to gain prominence over their Machinima episodes. The latter are still funnier because of the condensed time and the admittedly scripted jokes, but the team arguably grew the beard when their LP's, videos and podcasts started to become interconnected with jokes crossing over from each format.
* HarsherInHindsight:

** Overlapping with FunnyAneurysmMoment, the Best Friends' constant potshots at ''The King Of Hate'' becomes somewhat less funny in light of the end of the Best Friends given that [=DarkSydePhil=] ends up outlasting them. A specific example is a podcast with Retsupurae with them joking that once [=DarkSydePhil's=] day has come and gone any one of them could be latched onto as the Internet's newest "villain."

** In their Playthrough of TheLastOfUS, they stand by their decision to massacre all of the surgical staff in the final level, thinking that Joel's anger was righteous. Cut to the sequel, and we find what happens after that...

** Pat worries this will be the case when he mentions in the second part of their Mortal Kombat 9 viewing that Liu Kang and Kitana will eventually have a "[[UnfortunateImplications really hot]], [[ThatCameOutWrong cool baby]]." Cue Matt and Woolie making pedophile jokes and Pat lamenting that "People will make pictures! You can't do this to me!"

* CriticalResearchFailure:
** Their knowledge of comic books that aren't The Punisher or X-Men, especially DC comics like Superman and Green Lantern, can leave you wanting. During 2014's "The Amazing Superfriends" month-long superhero game marathon, it came to a head as they frequently referenced things that either didn't happen or were being misremembered. In the case of Green Lantern, it was abundantly clear that the group knew nothing about the character that they didn't gleam from Silver Age pictures floating around the internet.
** One of Matt and Pat's biggest criticisms of ''The Walking Dead Season 2'' is that it [[CreatorsPet put Kenny on a pedestal]], claiming that it constantly frames him as always in the right and his plans and solutions to problems as always the "best" option despite how horribly he treats everyone else in the cast except Clementine and being directly responsible for several preventable deaths. In particular, they rail against [[spoiler:Arlo shooting Clementine, claiming there was no reason he would do such a thing and it only happened to vindicate Kenny treating him like crap, ignoring (or forgetting) that Arlo was still clearly bitter over Clementine indirectly causing his sister's death]]. Every so often, you'll find comments comparing the two, or outright accusing [=TBFP=] of ripping the Game Grumps off (despite [=TBFP=] [[CriticalResearchFailure predating Game Grumps by a year]]). Nevertheless, Jon of Game Grumps has admitted he was inspired by [=TBFP=] to make a two person show revolving video games. ** ''VideoGame/GodOfWarPS4'' dedicated many episodes to exploring the semi-open world and completing sidequests, which lead to the main plot progressing at a crawl. It doesn't help that the game is a {{Metroidvania}}, or that at certain points in the game, the available area to explore automatically expands. This led to the usual lineup of jokes such as "God of Snail", as well as the more LP-relevant "Side quest go up, but main quest go ''down''"[[note]]A reference to Pat's obsessive min-maxing of the Strength stat, to the point where he passes up decent equipment because they make Strength go down[[/note]]. Total time: 46 episodes and 23+ hours of footage.

** There's a much more hostile one between them and LetsPlay/PewDiePie. Which could be said to be instigated by Matt, as whenever he addresses the fandom, he likes to think of them as "better than [=PewDiePie=] fans".

** Some fans overlap with [[LetsPlay/TheOnlineWarrior Maximillian Christensen]]'s fanbase. If you hear anybody mention a Max on the channel, it's him. Taken up to 11, considering that the Best Friends are fans of him, have had him on the Podcast, got the YoVideogames crew to do Rustlemania intros, and even did a proper crossover when Matt and Woolie flew out to California to hang with Max and the doods.

** Similarly, Pat notes during their ''VideoGame/TheLastOfUs'' playthrough that Joel's insistence that they are "survivors", rather than "shitty people", is typically said in movies by REALLY shitty people. Later on in the game, we find out Joel has "been on both sides".

** Overlapping with FunnyAneurysmMoment, the Best Friends' constant potshots at LetsPlay/TheKingOfHate becomes somewhat less funny in light of the end of the Best Friends given that [=DarkSydePhil=] ends up outlasting them. ** Fans unsure of how serious Pat can be at times don't really care much for him liking to joke about some of Nintendo's financial troubles, with some feeling that the fact Pat didn't grow up playing Nintendo consoles makes him a bit biased against the company in general. Some even find it to be a bit disrespectful he still continued to make the jokes in spite of the passing of former Nintendo president SatoruIwata and the fact Iwata cutting his own pay in half helped the company regain profitability in 2015.
** ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'' fans were not happy when Woolie revealed he dismissed ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamIronBloodedOrphans'' after only two episodes because he felt it was becoming just another ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED'' and criticizing the show for being "kiddy". Fans of the former agree that it's one of the darker settings Gundam has had, especially with a certain scene in the third episode. However, he was not incorrect in pointing out the relative lack of gray morality by displaying stereotypical villains and the inherently tropey nature of the work. Which is something Gundam SEED definitely did.

** While playing ''VideoGame/PrisonBreak'' Matt was afraid of going to jail and said he needed to learn about prison from the game. A few years later, the Two Best Friends Play Facebook implied Matt, Pat and Woolie were almost arrested with the ''VideoGame/AliensColonialMarines'' post showing really suspicious footage of the best friends. It later turns out that they were stopped by police when a person saw them sneaking around at night with (toy) guns, but thankfully nothing bad came of it.

** SBFC 013: Pat claims Masashi Kishimoto will ''die'' [[LongRunner before he finishes]] ''{{AnimeAndManga/Naruto}}''. This episode came out in June of 2014. ''Naruto'' wrapped up about a year later (at least, manga-wise, as the anime is still ongoing).

** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DI9Zv_mTtxI The preview for Friendcast 119]] has Matt's figure of Guts from ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'' cry out "JUST GET ME OFF THIS FUCKING BOAT ALREADY!!!", in reference to the manga's ArcFatigue and ScheduleSlip at getting to Elfheim. When the video was posted, it had been nearly eight years since they got on the boat, but then they got off ''two weeks'' later.
** At the start of their ''Death Road To Canada'' video, Matt jokes about how the results of the 2016 US election may influence people to take said death road, with Woolie adding in a statement about Americans being "political tourists". Flash forward to Election Day, and the news of Donald Trump being the winner resulted in the Canadian immigration website crashing due to the high volume of people applying.

** Several of the Shitstorm of Scariness videos has Matt still berating Pat for his timidness during the Slender Man video. Pat fully admits this and seemingly takes it in stride.

* SeasonalRot: Towards the end of their channel, the Super Best Friends were having a number of LPs that didn't go over well. And it was becoming more and more clear that there was indeed backstage drama and a lack of communication between the members of the group.

** During their ''VideoGame/{{Slender}}'' video, Pat muses on whether the Slender Man could be an allegory for the Internal Revenue Service.

* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** Woolie got early criticism when he first appeared, as some fans considered him unfunny and that the more friends, the more difficult it was to interact. Also, detractors often cite him taking too much time to finish the game.
** To an extent, Pat. Some fans think his temper tantrums are hilarious and the best part of the show. Some see him as too highly opinionated and that he comes across as a jerk to people that enjoy games he doesn't. And some just don't like the fact that he 'fakes' surprise to events in games he's already beaten and knows what's going to happen (biggest example being Yakuza 4, which he's beaten around 8 times according to him). As of late, his plot predictions and theories, and occasional difficulty in playing games - although this tends to specifically relate to SOMA, which is partly a puzzle-based game despite his disdain for that genre - has also earned the ire of fans - although some have come to defend him on his plot predictions, pointing out that in the instance of Metal Gear this is a series where nearly anything ''can'', ''will'', and ''has'' happened.
** Liam has currently taken over the place as the most disliked friend for a number of reasons: originally when he was introduced, people enjoyed him for his high skill level, hilarious speaking patterns and obviously false egotism, and his ability to inject life into conversations by playing devils advocate sometimes so that all the convo's aren't one-sided, all three of which began in his introduction in Metroid Fusion where he did a pretty bang-up job of playing the game. However, with the advent of Super Despair Girls, MGSV, AND Star Fox Adventures, the audience has begun to dislike Liam for these same reasons: his high skill level leads to large levels of overconfidence, which in turn causes him to ignore game mechanics ''in the game he's playing'' as it's "beneath" him, like the timed attacks in Mario RPG. His false egotism has now been replaced with actual egotism, and many fans have begun to point out his constant narcissism as unfunny and kind of rude. Lastly, his constant devil's advocate playing has gone to levels where it's obvious that he actually ''hates'' the thing he's advocating for, but chooses to anyways because he thinks it will lead to a more interesting conversation, when not every conversation needs to be an argument. Overall, Liam's biggest flaws have become front and centre when he's at the helm of the majority of the LP's on the channel, perhaps the biggest of which are in the MGSV LP.
** Matt has become a BaseBreakingCharacter. While most people enjoy his jokes and interactions with other friends, some think Matt tends to bring any other members of the Zaibatsu down, ruin a good joke by repeating it several times per minute and running it into the ground, crack jokes during emotional moments that other members of the Zaibatsu are emotionally invested in, and he wouldn't shut up during other situations like that, to say nothing of his DSP-like tendencies to miss and/or ignore obvious things. Also, he apparently is burnt out by the years of making content, so he tries just to get over with the game he's playing sooner rather than enjoy it.
** Pretty much any of the friends, really. It all depends on what game they are playing and what opinion they are pushing. Pat is going to get a lot of hate for overthinking games and throwing guesses around like they are facts, Liam will get hate for the times he skips tutorials on games he doesn't know about, Matt will get shit at times when his references go overboard, his running gags become forced or because of his jaded attitude, and Woolie will get hate for whenever he can't adjust to whatever he's playing quickly enough.
** Rage. A majority enjoyed that he was the primary focus of ''Def Jam: Fight for New York'', adding a cool new original character to the Best Friends' mythology. Then Rage started appearing more and more -- [[SpotlightStealingSquad frequently at the expense of Zubaz, one of the team's classic characters]] -- leading older fans to accuse Rage of being a CreatorsPet. This perception wasn't helped by the penultimate ''Rustlemania 2'' episode, where Rage leaves the Baz [[CurbStompBattle utterly humiliated]].

** Liam became this in the ''VideoGame/MetroidFusion'' playthrough. When he left for four episodes, a good portion of the comments were asking "Where's Liam?", and there was much rejoicing when he returned.
** ''VideoGame/MarlowBriggsAndTheMaskOfDeath'' quickly won Pat, Woolie and Liam over (Matt had tried it the day before, he was already impressed). A ''VideoGame/GodOfWar'' clone that runs on RuleOfCool. Almost every video afterwards has comments begging for a full play through that eventually came in 2018

** Woolie makes a number of jokes to this effect in their ''VideoGame/DmCDevilMayCry'' playthrough. He especially rips into the infamous scene where Vergil fires a rifle through Lilith's torso, killing her unborn child; calling it a ".50 Caliber coat hanger" and wondering if Plan B was written on the bullet.

** Many fans of ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry'' became well-acquainted with the ''Best Friends'' fanbase near the end of the latter series' run, when ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry5'' was announced and Pat and Woolie played through the entire series (except for ''2'').

** Pat and Woolie's ''Devil May Cry'' series had a RunningGag where the game they planned to do next finished installing in the last episode of the LP. The ''VideoGame/DmCDevilMayCry'' LP, which didn't have the gag, turned out to be the last full LP on the channel.

* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: Sometimes the Zaibatsu's attempts at creating character that run on ComedicSociopathy fall flat on their asses and cause the audience to instead stop watching the adventures of a completely unlikable character. A prime example of this is Nevara "Pockets" Chaar from the KOTOR LP, whose fall to the Dark Side was less a fall and more a straight up ''belly flop''.

** RAGE has been seen to slowly become more of a BaseBreakingCharacter. A majority enjoyed that he was the Primary focus of Def Jam: Fight for New York and added a fun Character to collection of SBFP. Then it started out as a shift in focus that soon eclipsed that of Zubaz, one of the team's characters. Fans find it frustrating that RAGE is receiving such publicity and is growing much larger than the Baz who's cameos and talk abouts are slowly diminishing to compensate. Not helped by the penultimate Rustlemania 2 episode, which essentially featured the wholesale destruction of the Baz, stripping everything from him for RAGE's benefit.
