** Not to mention that the fact [[spoiler:Zelda is an actual playable character and she helps Link throughout the entire game]] made lots of fans go nuts. Specially shippers.

Fan Nickname and I Knew It are Trivia, not YMMV. And Phytops? I can see how people may find trouble with it (being slow with stylus dexterity), but how is it hard to remember (it basically telegraphs where it\'s about to hit) and I don\'t especially see the schizophrenic part. I think this needs talking in discussion. Darker And Edgier is not YMMV. And it\'s far too tongue in cheek in comparison to The Wind Waker to seriously consider it as such. X Meets Y isn\'t YMMV either.

* DarkerAndEdgier: With all the DemonicPossession in the game, including a pleasant little scene with [[spoiler:[[NightmareFuel Malladus successfully possessing Princess Zelda's, and later Cole's, lifeless body]]]], the game has a surprisingly dark undertone given the bright art style.

* FanNickname: When the initial trailer came out, some fans began affectionately referring to Cole's transport, the Dark Train, as Ganontrain.

to:

* FanNickname: When FreudWasRight: Anyone else feel something with the initial trailer came out, some fans began affectionately referring to Cole's transport, very end? [[spoiler:Namely that Link drives his sword (an ever popular symbol for this trope) into the Dark Train, as Ganontrain.BigBad's head, and then you must ''rub'' the screen. Zelda then comes along to help, er, rub Link's sword. Then when the sword actually pierces the boss' skull they give out a rather... ecstatic cry.]]

* IKnewIt: The theory that there are two Hyrules has been around for quite some time now (In fact, it's at the very top of the WMG page). Also, in a different portion of the WMG page of the Zelda series, someone suggested that Zelda would be an ExpositionFairy ghost, controlling the Phantoms. This was posted weeks before it was revealed to be official fact. This was somewhat helped by the fact that the second piece of official artwork that was leaked (the European boxart) shows Zelda drawn in pale colours, which encouraged the theory.

* ThatOneBoss: Fraaz. He's surprisingly hard for being only the second boss in the game, and he's the most DangerouslyGenreSavvy enemy in the game to boot; his main form will aim where the game "thinks" you'll be when his shots reach you - he's the only non-overworld boss in this game to do this accurately - and [[spoiler:after the first form cycle, he'll destroy the torches you were using against him]]. (Phytops will also try to "lead its target" with its goo shots in some parts of its fight and is ThatOneBoss in its own right - see below - but, unlike Fraaz, if you keep moving in the same direction Phytops will usually miss.)
** Phytops is nearly impossible unless you've stocked up on Heart Containers and purple potions or you've memorized '''''every part''''' of its attack pattern. If you haven't done either and you're not a hardcore gamer (if you are, you'll have most likely done ''both'' things mentioned earlier), its "vine whip" attacks will obliterate you in the second phase. Specifically, Phy's vines attack is a three-hit combo, and if you get hit by the first, you WILL get hit by the third which is GUARANTEED to knock you off the cliff. This totals up to about 1.5 hearts for a single combo; you can survive this maybe 4 times if you have maxed-out heart containers.
*** Phytops is rather [[LuckBasedMission schizophrenic]]. How aggressively he attacks seems to be linked to the number of total hit points he has remaining, not how many times you've knocked him down. There are times where he will never use the vine-whip combo at all, while other times he will just [[PerfectPlayAI nail you to the floor without mercy]].

* ThatOneSidequest: The Dark Ore sidequest. You have to carry some ore that melts in sunlight halfway across the world map, and the only way to keep your cargo intact long enough is to go through a tunnel - inhabited by a GiantEnemyCrab. Made tougher by the fact that you're also harassed by smaller ones. And getting hit causes you to lose some precious ore, so the bottom line is that you have to fight one of the tougher bosses in the game ''and'' take no more than one or two hits. There is a bit of a GuideDangIt cheat, though... The boss appears as soon as you enter it after unlocking the track, but only in the direction you need to take with the ore. You can beat it, then go pick up some ore and deliver it at your leisure, since the crab won't ever respawn (though the smaller enemies do, but they aren't as bothersome).

No, I wouldn\'t call it a very dark game. No darker than, say, Ocarina of Time or The Wind Waker (which is in some circles considered Lighter And Softer). Large Ham is no longer a YMMV.

##The fact that it * LargeHam: Malladus, who, despite getting barely 3 lines in the whole game, manages to still uses ''WindWaker''-esque cel shaded graphics. be almost hammier than Ganondorf himself. Malladus' very first spoken line in the game (which was a shock to many players who had assumed he couldn't talk up to that point) was [[IncomingHam "RELEAAAAASE MEEEEEEE!!!"]
* ScrappyMechanic: The Lokomo songs can be annoyingly touchy, both in requirements and in controls (the mic seems to make a lot of double notes from a single blow, and it's a real pain in the ass to hit two notes not next to each other without hitting any of the ones in between). [[YourMileageMayVary
Some fans lucky bastards don't have any trouble with this at all.]]
** Some people have noted that Phantom Zelda's AI has certain weaknesses that can make controlling her and Link in tandem a rather annoying task, especially in midboss and boss fights.
If you
haven't moved past 2003 in that regard.

done either and you're not a hardcore gamer (if you are, you'll have most likely done ''both'' things mentioned earlier), its "vine whip" attacks will obliterate you in the DS mic usage. Some fans are incapable of inconspicuously exhaling at their devices and are afraid of odd looks in public (although background noise interfering with the mic is a legitimate concern).

And getting hit causes you to lose some precious ore, so the bottom line is that you have to fight one of the tougher bosses in
the game has ''and'' take no more than one or two hits.
** There is
a surprisingly dark undertone given bit of a GuideDangIt cheat, though... The boss appears as soon as you enter it after unlocking the bright art style.

track, but only in the direction you need to take with the ore. You can beat it, then go pick up some ore and deliver it at your leisure, since the crab won't ever respawn (though the smaller enemies do, but they aren't as bothersome).

* AndTheFandomRejoiced: The trailer and plot summary released in November of 2009, which caused one article writer at Zelda Informer, [[ItsTheSameNowItSucks who had dismissed the game as a tired retread of Phantom Hourglass almost as soon as it was announced,]] to '''issue a public apology to Nintendo for ever doubting them.'''
** Not to mention that the fact [[spoiler:Zelda is an actual playable character and she helps Link throughout the entire game]] made lots of fans go nuts. Specially shippers.

Malladus' very first spoken line in the game (which was a shock to many players who had assumed he couldn't talk up to that point) was [[IncomingHam "RELEAAAAASE MEEEEEEE!!!"]
* FanDumb: Possibly the largest backlash since ''TheWindWaker.'' Some of the objections were petty, of course, and included:
##The train itself caused some ire from its mere existence in a MedievalStasis series (never mind the SteamPunk and OceanPunk direction of ''TheWindWaker'' and ''PhantomHourglass'' and the major AnachronismStew in ''LinksAwakening'' and ''MajorasMask'').
##The return to a ''PhantomHourglass''-style control scheme, which was polarizing on its own.
##The fact that it meant that Zelda Wii would come out later than 2009. Some viewed this as a mere stop-gap game to keep the fans from complaining.
##The fact that it still uses ''WindWaker''-esque cel shaded graphics. Some fans haven't moved past 2003 in that regard.
##An increase in the DS mic usage. Some fans are incapable of inconspicuously exhaling at their devices and are afraid of odd looks in public (although background noise interfering with the mic is a legitimate concern).
