** *glances upward* Well, the original writer got one part of it right. [[spoiler:I suppose you could say Sam didn't make a deal either, but that was mainly because no demon WOULD deal with him.]]
** Also, Sam and Dean (and Castiel) are '''not''' your fictional boyfriends. Yes, you can [[PerverseSexualLust have crushes on them]], but you ''do not'' '''own''' them. And EricKripke is ''not'' trying to offend your personal religious sensibilities.

Added All Webbed Up, moved some tropes to the YMMV page

Added DiffLines:

* ContinuityDrift: In the first season, vampires were shown to require blood in much smaller amounts than in other shows and movies (it took weeks for an entire coven to drink enough blood to kill two people). This is very difficult to reconcile with later appearances (i.e., they were somehow unable to drink cow blood without slaughtering the cows, despite having a huge supply and being easily able to go from cow to cow?).
** It should be noted the vamps draining the cows are really brimming with blood lust because, while they just need blood to survive, they want human blood. The slaughtering of the cows may be less consequential and more a brutalization for the sake of brutalization, just to work out some of that tension. Besides, John's journal says "victims are taken to the nest to be drained for days or weeks." It doesn't specify the number of victims and it doesn't give a specific amount of time.

Added DiffLines:

* FanNickname: Due to the parallel between the two sets of brothers, TelevisionWithoutPity have dubbed the Winchesters "The Hardy Boys." This was actually used in "A Very Supernatural Christmas" and "Abandon All Hope."

Added DiffLines:

* TheWoobie: The show's like a Woobie breeding ground but its two leads are the woobiest of all.
** Castiel arguably out-Woobies Dean and Sam, if only because unlike the Winchesters, he doesn't seem to have any sibling support when he goes through his troubles in Seasons 5 and 6.

* FanDisservice: Quite a lot. Enjoying Dean taking his shirt off? He'll be taking off his skin next. Liking Demon!John pinning Dean to a wall and invading his personal space? Prepare for sobbing, begging, and an awful amount of blood.
** Let's not forget the female example in "Sex and Violence." We've seen gross evil reflections before, but of an attractive woman, during sex?! Yeeowtch.
** [[TurnedUpToEleven It got worse]] in "My Bloody Valentine." A couple begin making out, it gets really hot, and then she takes a bite out of him, he takes a bite out of her; they eventually ''eat each other to death''.
*** Actually, if one likes zombie and vampire movies, it may be considered FetishFuel.
** Oh, boy! Castiel finally removed his shirt. [[spoiler:It's a shame he carved up his chest with a boxcutter beforehand.]]

Added DiffLines:

* {{Flanderization}}: Dean going from very flirt-happy to being a man-whore extraordinaire.
** And while he was never really seen as a good father anyway, John seems to be getting more despicable every time they mention him.
*** To be fair, Dean idolised him at the start, while now, mostly through retrospective memories, he's shown to be simply [[HumansAreBastards human]].

** There was a big kerfluffle on LiveJournal when someone counted the number of times Dean used the word "bitch" in the first three seasons, and it turned out to be several times higher during [[http://apocalypsos.livejournal.com/1618164.html season 3]] than [[http://apocalypsos.livejournal.com/1617144.html 1]] or [[http://apocalypsos.livejournal.com/1617299.html 2]]. Nevermind ''context'', that he was talking about a female demon, monster or thief, or that he often uses foul language when he doesn't like something, the largely-female fanbase [[MisBlamed immediately blamed the showrunners]]. Any suggestion that it was a ''character'' fault rather than the writers' was almost completely ignored.

* CrowningMomentOfAwesome: ''Tons''.
* CrowningMomentOfFunny: Has its own page.
* CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming: While most of their heartwarming moments have disturbing or depressing undercurrents and while some are shown to be flat-out lies by later episodes, Sam's "You're my big brother. There's ''nothing'' I wouldn't do for you" is certain to make any troper's heart melt a little.
** Also, the two brothers singing together in the Season 3 finale "No Rest for the Wicked."
** Many moments from the fifth season finale "Swan Song":
*** Sam [[spoiler:quoting Dean from the pilot episode, telling him to go live a "normal, apple-pie life" after Sam's gone]].
*** Kind of halfway between heartwarming and heartbreaking, but still: Chuck's narration of the history of the Impala, culminating in [[spoiler:Sam overcoming Lucifer's hold over him as he looks at the Impala and remembers all the times he and Dean have spent together]].

* [[FetishFuel/{{Supernatural}} Fetish Fuel]]: You know, [[IncestYay there is a reason why it's known so well as the "Incest Show."]] You've got Shifter!Dean tying Sam up and laying his hands on his thighs, Demon!John leaning in ''real'' close to Dean and emotionally torturing him, and Meg!Sam holding Dean's head steady while s/he emotionally tortures him, Dean is so devoted to his family that they might as well have him on a leash, and Sam and Dean are so clingy it's scary.
** There's also the many, many, many instances of gore, two pretty boys being put through emotional hell, batshit crazy little girls and Sam's kinky sex scene, where at one point he makes a face like he's getting * ahem* a bit of dominating himself.
** In Season 4's "In the Beginning," there's kind of a long scene where Sam and Dean's grandfather (played by Mitch Pileggi, {{Squee}}!) leans in very close and appears to be sniffing Dean's face and/or hair while possessed. Not to mention kissing his daughter.
** Despite being a powerful angel, Castiel is always getting beat up and bloodied on-and-off camera. They even duct-taped his mouth shut in one episode. We also get to see his chest carved up.

* FridgeBrilliance: In "All Hell Breaks Loose Part 2," [[spoiler:Azazel, after telekinetically pinning Dean to the tombstone and mocking him, tries to shoot him with the last bullet in the Colt. Why would Azazel waste the last available usage (at that time) of such a powerful weapon on Dean, when he could easily have killed him any number of ways?]] It doesn't seem to make sense...until ''three seasons later'', when we find out that [[spoiler:Dean is the designated vessel for the ArchangelMichael, and the angels will keep resurrecting him as often as he dies to make sure he's available to use. And at that point, you realize what Azazel was doing: Trying to destroy Michael's vessel with the one weapon that could do so with such finality that even Heaven's power couldn't resurrect him, thus guaranteeing Lucifer's victory from the get-go.]]
** While Sam and Dean's relationship is outright stated by Gabriel to mirror that of the archangels, the dialogue between Lucifer and Michael in the 5th season mimics [[NotSoDifferent the many arguments between Sam and Dean]] in Seasons 1 and 4: Michael is the obedient soldier who faults his brother for rebelling against their [[DisappearedDad missing father]], while Lucifer believes he is doing the only thing he can, following a bad road to stop something he sees as horrible, with little regard for everyone else involved.
** At first it seems odd that a [[spoiler:soulless]] Sam would be having sex at every opportunity, considering his detatchment from anything else emotional...until you remember that sex is a ''biological'' imperitive. [[spoiler:Without a soul]], he'd actually want it ''more''.
** Trickster/[[spoiler:Gabriel]] may have been killing Dean repeatedly so that Sam wouldn't be so easy for Ruby to manipulate, to stop the Apocalypse from even being put into motion as Sam wouldn't kill Lilith.
** This Troper thought that it was strange that no one had realised that a Trickster can fake their death, given how much Bobby knew about them... and then we find out that the Trickster is Gabriel, and most Tricksters probably can't pull of that feat.
* FridgeHorror: All of those innocent people who took the fall for the various murders carried out by Demons and Skinwalkers and other supernatural monsters? Yeah, you can bet your ass that they went straight to prison. Or, depending on capital punishment laws in the state they live in...
** Adam doesn't seem to have been revived from Hell with Sam. So one can assume he will be in Hell with two archangels until the end of time, which, coincidentally, will take 120 times longer than it would if he were in Heaven or Earth.
** But since we don't know who or what pulled Sam out, we can assume he might have gotten out too. If not can you imagine the family reunion if he were to get out?
*** As of recent revelations we know who pulled Sam out. And it seems that Adam is still in the cage.
*** And so is Sam's soul. With a bored and frustrated Michael and Lucifer.
* FridgeLogic: In the episode with the Crossroads demon, we see the blues player and Dean kiss the demon to seal the deal. In "All Hell Breaks Loose," again, we see Dean kiss the Crossroads demon to bring Sam back. Now, if we go back to the first episode of season 2, where John makes the deal with the Yellow Eyed Demon, does that mean to seal it, he had to kiss Yellow Eyes? If so, that's some heavily implied {{Foe Yay}}.
** Considering Crowley had a man kiss him, this is actually highly likely.
** So if Micheal's possible vessels are bloodline related (Dean, John) doesn't that include Sam? Michael vessels Sam, kills Lucifer, angels are happy, humans don't die, Win, Win...
*** Dean has been stated to be Michael's One True Vessel, any other vessel would slowly fall apart over time, the way Nick is with Lucifer. Also, Sam was tainted with demon blood as an infant which, according to Castiel, makes him "of course, an abomination." [[spoiler:Adam likely wouldn't have lasted ''that'' long, but he was only the vessel for like a week.]]
** The Wishing Well episode: how exactly did that little girl's parents get back from Bali?
*** Same way Sam came back to life: Their wish was undone.

* HeyItsThatGuy: MarkSheppard, pretty much the poster boy for this trope, finally shows up in "Abandon All Hope."
** Also Cigarette Smoking Man in season 1's "Scarecrow."
** [[{{Glee}} Finn]] gets eaten by the wendigo in the second episode of season 1.
