** [[VideoGame3DLeap The transition from 2D sprites to 3D models.]] While there's no denying that many of the models are pretty and many think they blend in well with the stereoscopic 3D, [[TheyChangedItNowItSucks some think they aren't as cool as the Gen V animations were]]; many Fire-types have SpecialEffectsFailure with their body flames, and many flying Pokémon with wings are showing hovering in place in a very {{Narm}}y way ([[http://www.serebii.net/pokedex-xy/277.shtml Swellow]] is probably the best/worst example of this one) since they have to use the same models for Sky Battles. There's also the fact that ''Franchise/{{Pokemon}}'' was ''Creator/{{Nintendo}}'''s only major IP that didn't make the VideoGame3DLeap yet (even ''Franchise/{{Kirby}}'' games had started to mostly use 3D models), and many 2D sprite fans found it refreshing they stuck to them for so long. Others think it was about time they did it and were happy with the results.
** Mega Evolution. The fact that it is a temporary evolution, the fact that only select Pokémon get the form (and on top of that [[PanderingToTheBase Mewtwo and Charizard getting two apiece]]), the designs of the forms, and some forms getting new typings has led to many arguments over the matter. Which Megas are [[GameBreaker broken]], and which are [[PowerUpLetdown outclassed by their base forms]], is greatly debated. Then of course, there are those who simply hate the designs of most or all the Mega Evolutions, seeing them as over-designing [[NostalgiaFilter perfectly-fine older Pokémon]] to try to match the design styles used in the later generations.
** The music. Some think ''Pokémon X'' and ''Y''[='=]s soundtrack a solid entry in the series, while others find it painfully bland compared to that of other games. The end credits song "KISEKI", in particular, is seen as either heartwarming and beautiful or pretentious and unfitting, particularly as its lyrics aren't actually sung; many fans agree that the concept of a Nintendo song with lyrics was built upon better with "[[VideoGame/FireEmblemFates Lost in Thoughts All Alone]]", "[[VideoGame/SuperMarioOdyssey Jump Up, Super Star!]]" and "[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate Lifelight]]", all of which have sung lyrics and varying moods.
** The main plot. On the one hand, there are those who consider it a step back from ''VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite'' for various reasons, including flat characterisation, less involved Gym Leaders, less detailed (and [[spoiler:apart from AZ,]] [[TrueArtIsAngsty less tragic]]) backstories, and a smaller post-game. On the other, there are those who felt the story in ''Black'' and ''White'' was melodramatic and overblown (and point out that the post-game of the original ''Black'' and ''White'' was also small - not as much as ''X'' and ''Y'' but not as large as [[VideoGame/PokemonBlack2AndWhite2 their own sequels]]), and see ''X'' and ''Y'' as a nice step back to the more conventional plots of the series.
** The [[ItsEasySoItSucks low difficulty]] of the single-player game when using EXP Share. Some people think it makes the story battles too boring, others think it is great because it allows players to use whatever Pokémon they like rather than sticking to the best ones. However, if one doesn't use the EXP Share, they'll quickly find it's nowhere near as easy.
** The addition of the rollerblades; some find them to be RollerbladeGood and a nice way to get around quickly while others consider it a ScrappyMechanic, especially since it's impossible to remove them, unlike a bike.
** A common debate is whether these games or ''Omega Ruby'' and ''Alpha Sapphire'' are the superior Gen VI games. Supporters of ''X'' and ''Y'' tend to enjoy the hugely expanded Pokédex and the return of Gen I favorites, Trainer customization, the Friend Safari and the Kalos region itself. Supporters of ''ORAS'' cite the wider variety of features, more balanced difficulty, greater level of polish, more extensive postgame, wider variety of obtainable starters and legendaries, and the Delta Episode. Of note is the fact that both sets of games [[PanderingToTheBase attempt to pander to nostalgic fans]], albeit in different ways, and also have deeper and more involved plots than previous ''Pokémon'' games.
** The games marked an overall change in direction for the ''Pokémon'' series (after the previous one attempted by ''VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite''), with a focus on streamlined, casualized main plots, larger regional Pokédexes that rely heavily on past generations (especially [[VideoGame/PokemonRedAndBlue Gen I]]), and more user-friendly competitive breeding and training in favor of fewer postgame features. Some fans highly enjoyed these changes (as shown by the greater sales and mainstream attention of ''X'' and ''Y'' and subsequent games), while others did not.

* SelfImposedChallenge: Aside from the traditional Nuzlocke run, some options in this generation:
** Turning off the Exp. Share. It's a borderline GameBreaker when on, but when switched off, X and Y's difficulty is actually on par with previous entries.
** A MinimalistRun using only the new Pokémon introduced in this generation. Your limit of choice in Pokémon then goes from a whopping 450 to a measily 69-70, many of which have JackOfAllStats. Good luck.
* SequelDifficultyDrop:
** It's surprisingly common to go through the game at your own pace and still end up with your 10-20 levels above the enemies in the area. Though bear in mind this only applies to regular gameplay; online battles are still as competitive as ever. It almost seems like the main game is really meant to prepare you for online.
** Same for the Battle Maison challenges, which operate by the same rules as online battles.
** Barring a few Breeders and the [[OnceAnEpisode requisite six Magikarp trainer]], there isn't a single trainer with more than 3 (and ''very'' rarely 4) Pokémon before the endgame. Even then, only the Champion has six Pokémon. As a result, the game isn't particularly difficult even without over-leveling.
** The Trainer Card. The DS era games had five objectives for you to accomplish to getting it to the highest colored rank, all of which came with completing the game and the National Dex, along with some that involved the side quests and a few other time consuming ones. Here, however, you only have three objectives before you get it to Gold rank, which is the highest: complete the game, defeat ''one'' (not all) of the Battle Chatelaines in the Battle Maison in the Super mode at 50 battles, and see all the Pokémon in the Kalos Dex and get the Oval Charm. XY's Trainer Card is by far the easiest to max out.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Your rival will either be viewed as this or TheWoobie. On the one hand, yes, they have severe issues with losing to you over and over and feel terrible about it. On the other hand, they ''purposefully'' taunt you up until the battle for the Mega Ring about how they are better than you in Pokémon battles ''without ever trying to prove it.'' It comes off as them being cowardly and not wanting to risk actually losing to you early on due to them wanting to appear as the best trainer to their friends. Further evidence for this comes up following the battle for the Mega Bracelet. After they lose, suddenly, they keep challenging you to fight after fight, more than any rival before them, almost like you wounded their pride and now feel a bit desperate to get it back by beating you.

Correct usage of Urban Legend Of Zelda, referring to a rumored secret in a videogame.

*** The fandom responded very positively to Inkay and Malamar for their unique Dark/Psychic typing, as well as appearing like something out of an Creator/HPLovecraft story. It helps that Inkay's method of evolution (holding the 3DS upside-down when it reaches at least level 30) is almost identical to a [[PopCultureUrbanLegends rumored]] method of evolving Lickitung way back in Generation I. Malamar in particular is very popular [[GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff with the Brazilian fandom]] due to its Japanese name, ''Karamanero'', which sounds like the term "''Cara maneiro''", meaning "Cool guy". The anime's use of the line helped. [[note]]Inkay became a prominent Team Rocket member, while Malamar became a recurring rare independent Pokémon antagonist[[/note]]

how can fans warm up "again" if they were "extremely critical" "upon release"?

* VindicatedByHistory: As per usual for ''Pokémon'' games. Initially, after the games' "honeymoon period" ended, fans were extremely critical of ''Pokémon X'' and ''Pokémon Y'' for elements such as its lack of postgame or challenge, poor balance, technical issues and weak story. However, after Generations VII and even moreso VIII proved to be even more controversial, fans began warming up to ''X'' and ''Y'' once again, appreciating elements that were removed or degraded in later games such as (a certain amount of) exploration, the older protagonists, the beautiful region, Mega Evolutions, the massive regional Pokédex, Pokémon-Amie, and ''especially'' the Player Search System. Furthermore, many fans also began to appreciate the many quality-of-life improvements in the jump from 2D to 3D, and how much of a leap forward ''X'' and ''Y'' were at the time of release despite its numerous steps backwards. While the games still get some flak (especially by fans of the "early modern" era of Generations III through V), they gained more defenders over time for their various strengths who are able to appreciate them as a competent first step into 3D for Game Freak, mostly brought down by the view that [[FranchiseOriginalSin their flaws, rather than their strengths,]] were built upon in subsequent games.

* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** Honedge and Klefki get a lot of flack for being Pokémon based off of inanimate objects, despite the fact that there are Pokémon from previous generations who have similar designs. It comes down to whether the execution in designs justify the concepts some inanimate object Pokémon are based on, which for most of the time is hit and miss. Others like them for their typings, and find the idea of a possessed sword and a key-stealing mischievous face pretty cool. Some also think that they're based on the idea of [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsukumogami Tsukumogami]], a kind of youkai that is an object that becomes alive and self-aware. The case both for and against Klefki is compounded by its use in competitive play, which often consists of infuriating the opponent into {{Rage Quit}}ting by crippling their team with [[ActionInitiative priority]] status moves.
** Both versions of Mega Mewtwo are this; while they are praised for their high, record-breaking base stats (X and Y have the highest Attack and Special Attack of all Pokémon, respectively), there is some debate on how good their designs look compared to each other as well as base Mewtwo. For a while, Mega Mewtwo Y got some extra hate for its association with [[ReplacementScrappy the unpopular "new" Mewtwo character]] from [[Anime/PokemonGenesectAndTheLegendAwakened the 16th movie]], which was eventually fixed by giving the same form to the far more popular Mewtwo in ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' (primarily based on [[Anime/PokemonTheFirstMovie the first movie]]).
** Mega Venusaur and Mega Heracross are well-liked for their competitive potential, but are disliked by some for their ugly designs, similar to Heatran and Conkeldurr.
** Both of Charizard's Mega Evolutions are this. While it's generally agreed that it deserved a Mega Evolution, the handling of the Mega Evolutions themselves are often debated.
*** Mega Charizard X. It seems to be the most popular Mega Evolution of all for [[PanderingToTheBase granting the longtime fan request of turning Charizard into a Dragon-type Pokémon]], but also gets a hefty heaping of ItsPopularNowItSucks (especially from [[OutOfFocus Charizard Y]] fans and Charizard haters) and gets some flak over its black and overly "edgy" design, plus the fact Charizard's Shiny counterpart is already black, which makes it seem less unique. It also came under [[{{Pun}} fire]] near the end of the ''XYZ'' [[Anime/{{Pokemon}} anime]] season for [[spoiler: being the Pokémon that Ash loses to]].
*** Mega Charizard Y is also this, often resulting in FandomRivalry with Mega Charizard X. Some fans prefer it over X for its more recognizable color scheme and playing like a supercharged version of base Charizard, with extremely high Sp. Atk and Fire attacks further boosted by Drought. Others believe that X's Fire/Dragon typing makes Y redundant and that it had no real reason to exist other than to [[TrollingCreator dupe the fandom]] for a few weeks, as Charizard's Fire/Flying typing was vocally maligned by many fans who wanted it to somehow gain access to the Dragon type, and Y's reveal caused backlash due to its lack of Dragon typing.
*** In general, there are [[{{Pun}} heated]] arguments in the fandom about whether Charizard deserved two Mega Evolutions in the first place, and whether its PopularityPower was enough to justify its priority over Venusaur and Blastoise. Some fans believe that the best solution would have been to have a singular "Mega Charizard" with X's Fire/Dragon typing and Y's more immediately impressive stats and Ability.
** Mega Gyarados, in a similar vein to Mega Charizard Y. Some fans maligned it for its more bulky, less streamlined design, as well as its lack of Dragon typing (as Gyarados was second only to Charizard in terms of fan requests to make it into a Water/Dragon type). Others like its darker and more colorful design, and find its Water/Dark typing [[EvilIsCool appealing]] and very fitting for Gyarados' nature -- particularly as it finally gives a Gen I Pokémon access to the Dark type (aside from the later Alolan forms and earlier true cross-generational evolutions such as Umbreon).
** All three of the starter's final evolved forms draw a lot of mixed reactions among fandoms.
*** With Chesnaught, some like its bulky knight design, while other think it's too generic next to the others and too much of a departure from its pre-evolutions[[note]]despite it being {{Justified|Trope}} [[ShownTheirWork because of the way chestnuts mature]][[/note]].
*** With Delphox, some fans like its design along its typing since the previous three fire starter were Fire/Fighting. On the other hand, some fans dislike its design along with its typing since it gives Delphox five typing weaknesses and its rather shallow movepool compare to Greninja and Chesnaught. Because of this, Delphox is always used as an example on how far Psychic-types have fallen since their [[GameBreaker reign of terror]] in Gen I.
*** With Greninja, it comes down to its ''tongue scarf'' of all things. Either it's [[RuleOfCool cool]] or {{Narm}}y. Some fans have also grown to resent it over time when it proved the most popular of the three, and not unlike Mega Charizard X, [[WolverinePublicity it ended up appearing a lot in promotional material]] [[SpotlightStealingSquad to the point of overshadowing the other starters]], and in the anime's case, even ''[[SeriesMascot Pikachu]]'' for some time.
** ''X'' and ''Y'' turned Lucario into this, as these were the games where its WolverinePublicity was cranked up from previous appearances. Lucario's previous appearance in ''VideoGame/PokemonBlack2AndWhite2'' was very well-liked for turning a previously extremely rare, yet extremely popular Pokémon with LateCharacterSyndrome into one of the earliest and best Pokémon to use in-game. Aside from giving it a Mega Evolution, ''X'' and ''Y'' did the same, but also made it a central focus of the Mega Evolution subplot and automatically gifted players a fully-evolved Lucario early on in the game, complete with Mega Stone. Many people were happy to see their favorite combat canine in a starring role once again and latched on to its Mega Evolution, but others got sick of it and started drawing comparisons to [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII Lightning]] and [[VideoGame/SuperMarioGalaxy Rosalina]] in terms of excessive overexposure.
** Shauna and Trevor. Like many of the other plot-relevant characters, they have received a lot of criticism for their rather bland and lackluster characterizations, especially compared to those of past rivals. However, they also have their fair share of fans who enjoy them in spite of all their shortcomings. Points used in their favor include their cute designs, their quirky and likable (to half the fans anyway) personalities, mild CharacterDevelopment, Shauna's {{Moe}} status and Trevor being {{Adorkable}}, and some fans have even noticed similarities between them and [[VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite Cheren and Bianca]] (even if the two of them are also Base-Breaking Characters of their own right).
** The Fairy Type has drawn some consternation for being {{Retcon}}ned onto pre-existing Pokémon families-- the Clefairy, Snubbull families and Togepi were all made pure-fairy type, while Jigglypuff, Mr. Mime, Marill, Ralts, Mawaile, Cottonee, and several others were made secondary type, which can cause cases of DamnYouMuscleMemory when you try to, say, attack a once normal-type Clefairy with a fighting-type move, or a once pure psychic-type Ralts with a dark type move. Meanwhile, the last time new types were introduced-- the Dark and Steel types in ''VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver''-- Steel was only retroactively added to the Magnemite family, and no pre-existing family was given the Dark Type ([[UndergroundMonkey Alolan forms]] [[VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon notwithstanding]]), which makes some wonder why Game Freak couldn't have just made new fairy-type Pokémon instead of retconning no less than twenty Pokémon to be an entirely different type.
** Dedenne's reception is unusually polarizing. On one hand, fans hate Dedenne for being [[ScrappyWeapon utterly garbage in battles and not learning Moonblast]] as well as not liking its design. On the other hand, there are some fans who love Dedenne for being adorable, as evident by a Japan-based Pokémon popularity poll called Pokémon Election, it managed to be in 31st place out of 720 Pokémon. In general, fans who follow the anime more are kinder to Dedenne than those who follow the games more, due to its prominent role in the TV show.

** Pokémon have a preference on where they like to be petted. Some like being petted by the ears, other like it... It'll go over the younger players' heads, but it'll leave a good number of older players giggling.

** Horde battles are a good source of experience, but they can still be very annoying early-on. They can turn a horde of Pokémon that are normally in the GoddamnedBats category into this really quickly. For example, a horde of Wild Scraggy can spam Sand Attack (lowers your accuracy) and Leer (lowers your Defense), so when the group decides to attack, they can faint your Pokémon (unless of course, you're a higher level ... but if you're trying to train a low-level Pokémon, then you're stuffed). It also makes capturing some Pokémon such as Zangoose or Seviper rather difficult, since they tend to turn on one another owing to GameplayAndStoryIntegration.

** ''X'' and ''Y'' was the first time there was a proper FiveManBand ensemble and could have had a lot of potentially interesting characterization developments. Unfortunately, the development for Tierno, Trevor, and Shauna stopped after the Team Flare plot ended (there is one more scene with them after you defeat Team Flare that one can assume is closure in a 'I will keep trying for my dream' way). To make it worse, the only character that you can have a rematch in the post game is your main rival.

* TheWoobie: The main rival of Calem/Serena. They're one of the friendliest rivals in the series and also the child of a family of powerful trainers who's seen as something of an expert in the group early in the game who clearly holds their reputation to themselves... which makes it hard not to feel for them when despite this, you always end up one step ahead of them and they simply can't figure out why. They're not like the wacky or arrogant rivals in many previous games, yet unlike the likes of [[GracefulLoser Hugh]], they clearly still have a serious desire to surpass you; the end result is a serious trainer trying hard to raise their team, but who still CantCatchUp and ends up frustrated at themselves as a result while still being your friend and a good sport about their losses. And why can't they can't beat you? It's because you're the [[TheHero player character]], and they're not, which is made even harsher by the fact that they ''would've'' been the successful player character if you'd picked the opposite gender. Only applies to the work causing the tough act to follow. Not those effected by it.

* ToughActToFollow: While the games as a whole are [[BrokenBase contested]], their characters and story are generally agreed to be a step down from ''VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite'', with worse pacing and less organic integration. Most of the characters fill similar niches to the ''BW'' characters (such as Shauna, Tierno and Trevor with Bianca and Cheren, AZ with N, and Lysandre with Ghetsis), but are considered to be inferior in their roles.

* HilariousInHindsight:
** Back in [[TheNineties the late 1990s]], [[UrbanLegendOfZelda there were many playground rumors (most of which also appeared on the Internet)]] detailing how to get "Poké Gods," even more powerful versions of certain Pokémon such as the starters, Mewtwo, and Raichu. Cut to 2013, and we now have even more powerful versions of Mewtwo, the Kanto Starters, and many others. Now if there were only Mega Nidoking (Nidogod) and Mega Nidoqueen (Nidogoddess).
** Similarly, there were jokes claiming that you could evolve Dragonite into [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Yoshi]], or Lickitung into Luigi, by methods involving holding the Game Boy upside down. Now that the 3DS comes equipped with a motion sensor by default, one Pokémon (Inkay) evolves through just that method!
** There was a comic where Blaziken threatens Fennekin not to evolve into yet another Fire/Fighting. This was before Delphox is revealed, which is a Fire/'''Psychic'''.
** Some fans have been anticipating a "Dark/Psychic/Fighting" type triangle for starter Pokémon for a while, if only to have a change of pace from the traditional Fire/Water/Grass type triangle. Although the fully-evolved stages of the Kalos starter Pokémon end up maintaining the classic Fire/Water/Grass type triangle, their dual types are something to gaze upon: Greninja is Water/'''Dark''', Delphox is Fire/'''Psychic''', and Chesnaught is Grass/'''Fighting''', allowing the long-purported type triangle to "pseudo-manifest" as secondary types in the Kalos' starters' final type combinations. Though, on the Pokémon they're on, it doesn't amount to a complete balance. If anything, it one-sides the triangle even further. Grass/Fighting vs. Fire/Psychic means the fox (just on types alone) will always win.
** Early on when ''Franchise/{{Digimon}}'' first released internationally, many complained that it copied ''Pokémon'', now that Mega Evolutions have been included, many people have been claiming ''Pokémon'' is ripping off '''''Digimon'''''.
** ''VideoGame/KingdomHearts3DDreamDropDistance'' featured {{Mon}}s as party members, which naturally drew comparisons to ''Pokémon'', one of the major aspects of that game's Mons was that it had a virtual pet aspect similar to ''VideoGame/{{Nintendogs}}'' for you to bond with them. It was rather amusing that little more than a year later, ''Pokémon'' did the same thing.
** One of the new trainer classes is "Brains and Brawn", which pairs a Psychic and a Black Belt. The anime did this long before ''X'' and ''Y'' back in 2009 with a tag battle pairing the two against Ash and Paul.
** Several Guides for ''Pokémon Red'' and ''Blue'' erroneously claimed that Hyper Beam was super effective against Dragon-types. Mega Gardevoir and Sylveon's Pixilate ability, which turns Normal attacks into Fairy type, as well as the Refrigerate ability that turns Normal attacks into Ice attacks, means this is now possible.
** People made [[Franchise/KingdomHearts Organization XIII]] jokes since Xerneas' name was revealed. And thus, they begun [[SignificantAnagram unscrambling the letters]] to figure out what the original name was. [[spoiler:[[ContrivedCoincidence Take away the X, and you get Serena.]]]]
** Yet another ''Kingdom Hearts'' example: ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsII'' introduced everyone to the "Get up on the [[Disney/{{Hercules}} Hydra]]'s back!" meme, which received some use in ''Pokémon'' after the introduction of Hydreigon, especially since a similar scene happens in the anime. And then this game not only introduces the Fairy-type that dominates the dark dragon in all aspects, but also a fairy Pokémon that has the proper secondary type to double-resist both of Hydreigon's innate types: Klefki, the ''key'' Pokémon.
** In an early episode of ''Pokémon'' anime, "The Tower of Terror," Ash's and Pikachu's souls are dragged out of their bodies by a Haunter, turning them temporarily into ghosts. Now there exists a Ghost-type move called "Trick-or-Treat," which transforms the opponent into a Ghost-type. Only Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist can learn it, though.
** A minor one, but [[http://fyeahpokemoncreepypasta.tumblr.com/post/1547415858/the-arms this]] ''[[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire Pokémon Emerald]]'' CreepyPasta deals with the player fighting a MultiArmedAndDangerous EldritchAbomination that killed Hoenn's Elite 4's Pokémon. The trainer sent out a Sableye, knowing that it has no weaknesses... and then the EldritchAbomination uses the [[VideoGame/PokemonRedAndBlue infamous]] White Hand to kill it. In these games, Sableye actually has an innate weakness to Fairy-types.
** [[http://www.dorkly.com/comic/53563/most-useless-megaevolutions-in-pokemon This comic]] shows various ludicrous "Mega Evolution" ideas. However, Mega Alakazam does exist... and he's seen juggling a huge amount of spoons. Mega Slowbro exists now, too, and it looks exactly like in the picture!
** Remember the [[VideoGame/PokemonDiamondAndPearl Galactic grunts]] trying to get honey? Well, this game allows you to use honey to initiate horde battles. Meaning that you can use it to attract Pokémon in great numbers.
** "KISEKI" would have been a fitting end credits song for ''[[Anime/PokemonTheFirstMovie Mewtwo Strikes Back]]'', considering how its lyrics basically state "all life is equal" and "life is worth living to its fullest," which (aside from being major themes in AZ's story) are basically the entire {{Aesop}} that Mewtwo learns over the course of the movie, especially in the Japanese version. Not to mention that you can catch Mewtwo itself in these games.
** In a bootleg game for the UsefulNotes/NintendoEntertainmentSystem, "Pokémon 4-in-1," there is a game called [=PicaClick=], where you randomly click blocks. Guess what you do in the Global Link attraction, "Balloon Popping"?
** An episode of ''WebVideo/YuGiOhTheAbridgedSeries'' has Joey make [[IncrediblyLamePun intentionally horrible]] Mega Charizard puns while riding a Baby Dragon (which very vaguely resembles a Charizard). Mega Charizard X, revealed a few days later, bears a much greater resemblance to the Red-Eyes Black Dragon -- Joey's signature card.
** In ''Platinum''[='s=] post-main scenario, Gardenia will at one point admit that she has no idea what she'd do if she ever encountered a Grass/Ghost Pokémon--she adores Grass Pokémon, but is terrified of ghosts. Between Phantump/Trevenant and Pumpkaboo/Gourgeist, she may want to hold off on going to Kalos for a bit...
** The "Hoenn confirmed" meme, now that Hoenn ''has'' been confirmed.
*** Though as a short joke a bunch of "Sinnoh confirmed" memes popped up for about a week.
** Diggersby Tho is funnier seeing that Diggersby is actually BL on Smogon, a tier that's below OU.
** The female character is named Serena, in the generation that introduces the Fairy-type, which is affiliated with [[{{Lunacy}} moon powers]], thus inviting ''Franchise/SailorMoon'' comparisons.
** There was a compilation album of themes from the American dub of ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'' that went by the title ''Pokémon X'' (which can be found in digital format on [=iTunes=], for those curious). It was released to [[MilestoneCelebration commemorate the show's tenth anniversary]], back when the dub had just hit the ''Battle Frontier'' portion of Advanced Generation, quite some time before there was a Gen IV, let alone V and VI.
*** Additionally, the webcomic ''Webcomic/PokemonX'' existed, to which the author commented on the games via Twitter.
