* DesignatedHero: The titular Mortasheen itself. The narrative is insistent that it's a case of NotEvilJustMisunderstood, but everything mentioned about the city makes it sound like a biomechanical Hell full of madmen who let their creations run rampant across the planet to the point nearby humans need to live in giant war machines to protect themselves. Not to mention Mortasheen displays exactly the same FantasticRacism towards humans that Wreathe has towards them.

Not a subjective trope.

* BrokenAesop: One of the ideas of the game is that just because the inhabitants of the titular city are horrifying-looking by human standards doesn't make them evil, and that their BodyHorror ecosystem has every right to exist. Except, by any sane standard, the inhabitants of Mortasheen ''are'' evil. They care less about their environment than humans do as they turned the entire planet into a toxic wasteland, drove most types of nonmutant species to extinction and ''filled an entire ocean with garbage''. This is not to mention that they also treat humans like lab-rats at best.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: This game is ''all over'' this trope. Take it from [[WordOfGod me]]- [[spoiler: Even I'm not sure ARE is evil, and Mortasheen is good. It seems less clear cut than that.]]
* FridgeBrilliance: the names of the Celestial engines not only refer to the planets, but also to the Roman gods:
*** MRS is Mars, god of war. His Avatar is the general of Wreathe's army.
*** PLTO is Pluto, god of the Underworld. PLTO is located underground.

* {{Crowning Moment of Awesome}}: During the test games, the party was charged with clearing out the monsters inside one of Laverne's factories. They received "tags" to use to record how many monsters they'd killed, and the team with the most kills was paid the best. The Engineer of the party dropped a rickety walkway onto an opposing group of Vigilantes, in order to steal the tags they themselves had acquired. [[spoiler: Which was part of Laverne's plot- she was looking for new, semi-permanent hire Vigilantes, and wanted someone willing to get a little dirty.]]
* {{Crowning Moment of Heartwarming}}: Even Mortasheen has these, in odd ways. The fact that Doomboros ''completely freak out'' when someone hurts a beloved master, going from cringing fear to utter berserker rage, is one such example; normally the Doomboros is terrified of everything, but as soon as that beloved master is hurt? It's asskicking time!
** Also, Laverne and Funkle. Laverne is a giant termite-queen-woman, Funkle is a guy trying to turn himself into a sentient disease who currently looks like a fleshy tumor; [[SickeninglySweethearts and they are totally, hopelessly in love]], which is both very sweet and incredibly Squick.
* {{Crowning Moment of Funny}}: The very ''existence'' of cannibal penguins in the North, as explained in the Wendiguin's biography.
** Again, the Devilbird of Sloth.
