** Doctor Rockzo's song "Dory [=McClean=]" is a song where he sings about a sexual encounter with a fourteen-year-old girl. Obviously, no real-life rock group could get away with putting out a song like that, right? Well, "Seventeen" by Music/{{Winger}}, "Christine, Sixteen" by Music/{{Kiss}}, and "All in the Name of..." by Music/MotleyCrue all dealt with the singer's desire for an underage girl, sometimes even acknowledging the illegality of it, and even operated in the same genre as Rockzo (that is to say, HairMetal). Hard-rock musician Music/TedNugent's "Jailbait" actually beats out Rockzo by singing about a ''thirteen''-year-old girl.

* AluminumChristmasTrees: Pickles' plan to use bleach to pass a drug test in the episode "Dethhealth" and the gang's general acceptance of the idea was just an example of their idiocy, right? Nope. You actually can put bleach in a urine sample to kill traces of many drugs, but you'll end up failing it anyway because doctors and lab technicians can tell if someone has put bleach in it, and it goes without saying that DRINKING IT (like Pickles originally suggested) will kill you.

* DiagnosedByTheAudience: All five members of Dethklok are clearly not right in the head, however:

** Nathan Explosion has extraordinary talent in music, borderline obsessive interest in death metal, profound lack of social empathy [which he later grows out of], speech difficulties, and literal thinking), and seems to have some degree of dyslexia as he has trouble reading Shakespeare in "Dethkids" and stumbles through the written speeches Offdensen gave for his political elections in "Dethgov". He also had delayed language development (he didn't talk until he was five). Some fans speculate that he's on the autism spectrum.

* NauseaFuel: Dear God, the episode where they drink bleach because they think it'll help make them healthier. Some viewers dry-heaved.

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Get Thee Hence (just like Kabbage Boy from VideoGame/BrutalLegend) are meant to be a parody of NuMetal bands. However, the scene about them brutally killed by a mob of rabid fans has become less funny when, in 2017, Music/LinkinPark's Chester Bennington committed suicide.

* HarsherInHindsight: ...the above GeniusBonus example was before Anders Breivik and Sandy Hook Elementary (~10 miles outside Danbury).

* TooBleakStoppedCaring: [[{{Gorn}} Wow!]] [[CrapsackWorld Just...]] [[KillEmAll WOW!]] This may have started to become more prominent as the show draws to its close. As of Season 4 onward, the story [[spoiler: with the introduction of the Church of the Black Klok]] is treating the band as the good guys. While Dethklok's enemies are nasty people, it doesn't change the fact that death and destruction follow the band where ever they go. In the early seasons the show didn't seem like it ''had'' a true good guy, the main difference is that the antagonists are actively plotting, whereas most of the havoc Dethklok is responsible for happens by accident and the band's own negligence.

* TearJerker: Toki and Pickles talking about [[spoiler: how much they miss Charles]] in the season 3 premiere. Kind of ruined when [[spoiler: Pickles - while staring at a locket in which he keeps a picture of Charles - says that admitting sadness makes you gay]].

** "Do It All for My Brother" from ''Doomstar Requiem'', where Edgar mourns his brother.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Did Toki actually trick the guys into dressing as the Klan in "Diversityklok," as revenge, or was the unfortunate similarity a case of InnocentlyInsensitive? Toki was wearing the outfit too, after all, and several incidents during the concert--Murderface coming out looking like Hitler, the faulty wiring that lit the "T for Toki" on fire--would have been beyond Toki's ability to control or predict.

* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: [[spoiler: Dethklok brings peace to the Middle East. [[UpToEleven Made even better]] by the fact that it's done using giant space holograms made explicitly so that the band can perform for all of Syria AND Israel simultaneously. When a soldier almost shoots an innocent girl across the border and the music begins, they look up, and we see that both are wearing Dethklok shirts. Awesome.]]

** Especially the Zazz Blammymatazz song "Dory [=McLean=], She's Only Fourteen" (which appears to be a parody of the Music/{{KISS}} song "Christine Sixteen"). It's a song about getting a blowjob from an underage girl.

* LGBTFanbase: There have been several people from the lgbqt+ spectrum who are fans of the show. There's also Murderface who might possibly be bisexual, which a lot of fans resonated with. There's also Pickles who fans like to headcanon as an FtM trans man due to him having no genitals in an uncensored scene in "Rehabklok". Skwisgaar might also canonically be bisexual. Brendon described him as "European".

* DieForOurShip: There are some that believe Abigail gets in the way of their favored slash ships, even though she did not show as much interest in Pickles as he did for her. She still gets hate regardless, particularly as [[spoiler: she does end up hooking up with Nathan.]]

** For metal fans, they're mostly divided into three camps. Those who understand and enjoy the affectionate humor to metal and the music, those who think otherwise, and a gatekeeping VocalMinority that dismisses Dethklok as [[SeriousBusiness "not true metal"]] compared to other metal bands. [[Administrivia/RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgment And let's leave it at that.]]

* FriendlyFandoms: Metalocalypse fans seem to get along well with TheVentureBrothers fans due to both of them being underrated Adult Swim shows.

* UglyCute: Recent episodes pretty much establish the band as overgrown 12-year-olds with daddy issues (except for Nathan, who gets along great with his father), which has given them a sort of bulldog-esque "D'awwwww" factor, believe it or not. Murderface is both the ugliest and the most childish.
