The most apparent happens to be the main hook of the show: despite being set in Tokyo, Japan, no one speaks Japanese beyond an [[JustAStupidAccent accent]], and the attempt to mimic authentic Japanese anime is rather a miss. Of course since it's a ''parody of anime'' no one was really expecting it to be. To be fair, many anime are also guilty of making everyone, in every country speak Japanese. It just makes it more accessible to the audience.

** To be fair, many anime are also guilty of making everyone, in every country speak Japanese. It just makes it more accessible to the audience.
** As far as the animation goes, maybe this troper can shed some light. At school, a guest speaker who worked on some cartoons (including Kappa Mikey) came to give a presentation, and noted that the quality of the animation was a side effect of creator/producer Larry Schwarz pulling some legal move that allowed him to keep a large percentage of money, but kept the show from receiving funding from Nickelodeon. Because of that, the show couldn't afford more animators for the animesque scenes.
*** Also, really GOOD animators charge more, so maybe it's that they couldn't afford people who could animate the show like a real anime, and instead went for inexperienced naive graduates. Ironic, considering anime animators work for beans in Japan!
