* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: The series was made during the [[UsefulNotes/TheJapaneseInvasion the 2000s anime bubble]], and it shows. One of the show's central jokes is about how American dubs of children's anime are edited to ridiculous levels. This practice would largely fade out by the time the anime bubble burst and Creator/FourKidsEntertainment went belly-up, with the majority of recent examples of "Americanized" dubs being from grandfathered franchises such as ''[[Anime/PokemonTheSeries Pokémon]]'' and ''Anime/YuGiOh''.

It hasn't been 20 years yet, which is the waiting period for VD. However, this example is still valid as a cross-country example

* ValuesDissonance: Lily regularly uses "Spaz" as an insult. While it was more acceptable in 2006, in the present day, that word is considered an ableist slur.

Funny Aneurysm Moment has been combined with Harsher In Hindsight. Also, the second They Wasted A Perfectly Good Plot example is just fans speculating on how a modern reboot of the show would be, which isn't what the trope is about.

* FunnyAneurysmMoment: Being a show within a show, the crew of ''Lily Mu'' frequently lampshades the bad points of the television and animation industry. Looking back, it's amazing how close Ozu's tendency to fire his employees and close the studio [[HarsherInHindsight reflect what happened to Animation Collective in 2008!]]

** Ironiclly nowadays, Flash is used more commonly for television animation with evolved programs such as Toon Boom, which can now animate much more fluidly that many can barely tell it apart from traditional animation. Some have even wondered how the show would look with the use of the these programs should it ever get a remake.

"Idiot Plot" is now Flame Bait.

* IdiotPlot: The episode where the filming conflict is that there's not enough room for everyone in the team car. Rather than try to write in a transportation upgrade, they completely ignore the problem until Mikey ruins the shot by trying to get into the car with everyone else. This is the sort of thing a show introducing a new character to the core cast would have thought of before they even knew who the character was.

** The theme tune possibly parallels to Music/TheRollingStones' "Get Off Of My Cloud".

* MagnificentBitch: [[AlphaBitch Mariko]], from season 2's "Back To School" is a student at Mount Lebaniku High School who is behind the DVD bootlegging ring, selling illegal copies of ''[[ShowWithinAShow LilyMu]]'' all over Japan. When she learns that the ''[=LilyMu=]'' cast has infiltrated her school and wiretapped her phone to stop her operation, Mariko intentionally misleads the cast to try searching for the pirated [=DVDs=] in the school floats, distracting them from her real plan to smuggle thousands of illegal copies in a computer chip inside a football that she plans to give to another school, allowing her to sell more copies while also removing any evidence towards her; She is only stopped by Gonard being TooDumbToFool.

* GrowingTheBeard: Season two is where the series started having more of a grasp on itself (outside the parody aspect which was still hit or miss). Plots were more focused, the writing got better and characters got some more bits of development.

Yes it was sung by Beat Crusaders and you don't have to give it that much credit.

* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: The theme song '''''rocks.''''' It blows the rest of the show completely out of the water! 10 points if this was sung by Beat Crusaders, a Japanese rock band!
