Originally intended to be a direct sequel to ''Kuuga'', someone working on the show raised the point that if another show was made about a new group of Grongi springing up then all of Kuuga's hard work would've been for nothing, which could've turned off returning viewers. Thus the monsters were turned into something completely unrelated, and the only real link is the police having created a power suit originally meant to fight Grongi.
