* DesignatedVillain: Happened a few times in the 1975 show where the Busters were dedicated to sending the ghosts back...really just because they were ghost. The best example might be the one with the werewolf. Who was trying to find the one thing that could ''cure'' his condition. Information the Busters probably would've liked to have had to use against more malicious werewolves.

People die all the time, and because of animation lead time, it's unlikely Forrest Tucker's death was why he didn't reprise his role as Kong. From what I've come to understand, stuff involving people's deaths only qualifies as a Funny Aneurysm Moment or Harsher In Hindsight if the media in question has a moment that seems to foresee the specific cause of death.

* HarsherInHindsight: Forrest Tucker who was Jake Kong Sr. died in 1986, the year the animated series came out. It could explain why Pat Fraley was Jake Kong Sr. and Jr. and Peter Cullen was Eddie Spencer Sr. and Jr.

* NightmareFuel: Ironically, the ghosts and baddies in the show itself weren't really all that scary, likely by design. The area of the HQ where the boys suited up featuring weird abstract demonic artwork however, was. It doesn't help that the demonic imagery is featured in the show's {{Episode Title Card}}s and ending credits.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: The original 1975 series did very well; it came in second for ratings, right behind another Filmation live-action show, ''The Shazam/Isis Hour''. A second season could have been done but Filmation cancelled it instead to concentrate on the aforementioned show.

* FridgeLogic: An episode of the original series has a ghost who's also a werewolf trying to steal a mystical amulet from the Ghostbusters. The thing is, ''this amulet can cure him of lycanthropy,'' which is why he wants it. Which means that for once the ghosts and the busters aren't at cross-purposes: if they'd worked together the werewolf would've gotten his cure, and the Ghostbusters would've learned what the amulet does and how to use it, allowing them to render other werewolves they face powerless.

* RecycledScript: Becomes really obvious when the same villain pulls off the same plot in two ''consecutive'' episodes, at least in the Netflix playlist order.
** Also, the InsideAComputerSystem episode "Cyman's Revenge" is very similar to the ''WesternAnimation/HeManAndTheMastersOfTheUniverse1983'' episode "Day of the Machines".
** There's a sequence in the episode "Statue of Liberty" in which: The Ghostbusters go up a reeeeeally long flight of stairs (sound familiar?) in pursuit of Mysteria. Mysteria catches up to Eddie and surrounds him with mist. Eddie falls, and Tracy uses the Ghost Gummer to catch him in the nick of time! The sequence was reused in a later episode, replacing Mysteria with a generic orange ghost!

** Most of the idiot plots could be avoided if anyone involved used their time traveling abilities properly. Admittedly, if taken to the logical limit the series would be an extremely confusing series of temporal {{Xanatos Gambit}}s.
