** It's a little unsettling to hear The Rev say "You'll never see me again" in [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tPPM4UfWmk this interview]]. Also, the song [[TearJerker "Fiction"]] definitely counts even though it was released after his death, as it was the last song he wrote and the song is told from the point of view of someone recently deceased saying goodbye to their loved ones. To add to the eeriness, it contains the very last vocal and piano tracks he ever recorded and is the only song on the album that features his voice and playing. Well that, and this quote:

* TooGoodToLast: A line in "Victim" says, "Nothing lasts forever; for all good things, it's true."

** "Not Ready to Die," the song written for [[CallOfDutyBlackOps Black Ops Zombies,]] is sung from the point of view of Richtofen / the zombies...

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: "Sounding The Seventh Trumpet" is mostly a HardcorePunk album. Johnny isn't in the band yet, Synyster Gates' guitar solos are nowhere to be found (besides "To End The Rapture" on the re-release) since he joined the band just after finishing recording, The Rev is pretty much doing fills constantly for the whole album, M. Shadows barely sings (And when he does, [[NoseYodeling well...]]), and "Streets" is a leftover punk song from one of M. Shadows' first bands.

* UnfortunateImplications: While the message of "Critical Acclaim" is to not bash on soldiers that are fighting and struggling, some of the lyrics come across as pro-WarOnTerror, [[{{Understatement}} a little bit]] Fascist, and pretty much say "LetsSeeYouDoBetter" to anyone criticizing the [[GeorgeWBush Bush Administration.]] They had previously said and still say the they never will force their political or religious views on everyone, but ''apparently'' they just felt that SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped for this one. [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot It's a shame too,]] considering that [[AwesomeMusic musically the song is actually extremely awesome,]] [[StepUpToTheMic especially The Rev's chorus]]. * FaceOfTheBand: Averted. The whole band are always seen as a {{Nakama}}, and nobody really gets any publicity over anyone else ('cept [[NobodyLovesTheBassist maybe]] [[ButtMonkey Johnny...]])

* SignatureStyle: Expect poppy chord progressions and catchy EarWorm hooks and Choruses, against metal backgrounds, references to TheBible, melodramatic and theatrical LargeHam lyrics, and a lot of harmonic minor keys.
