** Guess where Scotty's from!

* VillainSong: "Evilmania", like the rest of the soundtrack, is surprisingly awesome — but comes with [[DisneyAcidSequence KKK members on roller skates doing the Macarena]].

* ThemeMusicPowerUp: "Lay Down Your Arms" plays when Freddie, Daffers and Scotty fight a horde of {{Mooks}}, and starts up again for Freddie's HeroicSecondWind.

** There's even some of this implied between the villains El Supremo and Messina, "ARE YOU TIRED, MY BEAUTY?"

* ShoutOut: "We've just lost some of our best men! 003 in China, 005 in Russia, [[JamesBond 007 in Hollywood—]]"

* BigBadDuumvirate: [[EvilMatriarch Messina]] and [[LargeHam El Supremo]].

** Freddie also lets Messina escape in the end, for whatever reason in the original cut. Averted possibly with the American, which implies she dies from Freddie's counterattack.

** In the US cut, [[SequelHook instead of turning into a bird and flying away]], Messina gets wrapped around a pole [[StockFootage (again)]] and is never mentioned again.

** Freddie also lets Messina escape in the end, for whatever reason.

* DesignatedHero: Freddie as an adult, is far more concerned about fulfilling his mission while being a SmugSuper about it. This includes keeping valuable information from his teammates to treating Messina as a nuisance, despite the latter murdering his parents.

* JerkAss: The villains, obviously, but Freddie as well.

''Freddie as [=FRO7=]'' (Known in the United States as ''Freddie the Frog'') was a... ''[[NonSerialMovie strange]]'' children's film produced in the UK in 1992.

* TheNotSecret: An unintentional example. It's reported in newspapers that Freddie is now the world's greatest secret agent. [[FridgeLogic How great can he be if it's not a secret?]]

* IJustShotMarvinInTheFace: Scotty pulls his gun out at one point, and Freddie tells him to put it away. So, Scotty ''throws it away over his shoulder'', and [[ShurFineGuns it goes off]] and blows a hole in his hat.

* InterspeciesRomance: Heavily implied between Duffers and Freddy. [[{{UST}} It gets awkward.]]

* NationalStereotypes: Guess where Scotty's from!

* OohMeAccentsSlipping: Messina. Her accent, in human form, is a completely over the top French accent, whereas in Snake form, it's a little more subtle. When she's singing, the french accent drops altogether.
** That's because Grace Jones sings Messina's song

* ShapeshifterModeLock: For some reason, once Messina turns into a snake she never turns back into a human for the rest of the film.
** Not entirely true, she does turn back into a human in the climax and transforms into an assortment of different animals for the final fight scene.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: There is a member of the British Secret Service who is constantly seen grinning and laughing evilly to himself, who is later viewed to be a spy for El Supremo. The American version removes this revelation, and he just seems to be an asshole.

* OohMeAccentsSlipping: Messina. Her accent, in human form, is a completely over the top French accent, whereas in Snake form, it's a little more subtle. When she's singing, the French accent drops altogether (since her singing voice is provided by Grace Jones).

* ShapeshifterModeLock: For some reason, once Messina turns into a snake she never turns back into a human until the climax, at which point she transforms into an assortment of different animals for the final fight scene.

* StockFootage: When you use the same thirty seconds or so of animation of the King talking to Freddy over and over through the whole movie, the audience is eventually going to notice. This happens only in the U.S. version, however.

** The plot centres around stealing national monuments in order to siphon the history out of them and sap the British spirit. This could work. However:
** Big Ben is the clock tower on the Houses of Parliament. It's attached to them.
** Nelson's Column is one of many, many, many statues in London.
** St. Paul's is a lovely cathedral. However, the other big London Cathedral, which was not stolen, Westminster Cathedral,contains the graves of the British Kings, great scientists, writers...
** The only monuments stolen that isn't in London are Stonehenge and, right at the end, Edinburgh Castle.
* Conquering "The British Isles" ignores the plural: Ireland, which should be completely unaffected by the film.
* The Tower of London's ravens are actually looked after by the army on the site, due to an old tradition that not having ravens would mean England would be conquered. Members of the army are generally not allowed brightly coloured mohawks.

** Rollerskating Klansmen doing the macarena with a bunch of [[PuttingOnTheReich pseudo-nazis]]. Furthermore, Grace Jones (the singing voice during this scene) is black.

** [[TooDumbToLive He does it again later with an assault rifle]], although it doesn't go off. He even puts his hands up to protect himself from the bullet, as if he was ''expecting'' it to go off.
* {{Imperial Stormtrooper Marksmanship Academy}}: In the fight scene in the room with the gem and the monuments, the soldiers practically just stand there and take the beating. In the uncut version, they actually try, and still can't hit slow-moving targets. In contrast, the only three fighters defeat them hand to hand.

* {{Mind Over Matter}}/{{Your Mind Makes It Real}}: Freddie, plotwise, tends to emphasize using his mind instead of guns. When he turns rifles into ''butterflies'', one can see why.
