The series was an {{MST}} of sorts; two friends named Matt and Pat play video games, argue, and mock the game they are playing and each other. The series does not focus on the two friends; they weren't even named until the second season. According to the show's Website/{{Facebook}} page, it started when The Switcher (Matt) invited his friend Snapshot King (Pat) over to play ''VideoGame/KirbysEpicYarn'' and record themselves taking their playthrough way too seriously.

Since its inception, the concept of "Two Best Friends" has expanded to the "Super Best Friends Zaibatsu", with the inclusion of additional friends Woolie and Liam. They kill the Executioner successfully and, because they hadn't died again up to that point, end up getting ''all'' their stolen Blood Echoes back that they previously forgot about.

* PetTheDog: After spending most of the ''VideoGame/ManVsWild'' let's play trying to kill every animal they came across (and even lamenting that the game doesn't let them kill the cougars), Matt and Pat spare the gray fox in the last level, out of respect for the Franchise/MetalGear character.

** In ''Super Best Friends VS: Dark Souls II'' Woolie defeats the very first enemy he encounters by shooting magic through a hole where he can't be touched. All the while Pat yells to cheat if you can't beat the enemy regularly. Then in the ''Dark Souls II'' LP, the very last enemy they engage, [[spoiler: [[BonusBoss Darklurker]] gets stuck in a wall and is unable to retaliate while Woolie wails on it.]] So both the very first and the very last enemy Woolie fights were defeated through some form of cheating.

On December 23, 2016, Liam revealed he would be leaving permanently for mental health reasons (a week earlier, Matt also announced a hiatus due to severe overstress and other real-life complications, but he returned to the channel a month later). They play ''VideoGame/RedDeadRedemption'', but [[spoiler:gameplay shows that they're actually playing ''Gun'']], and the tags on the video list it as [[spoiler:''Call of Juarez'']]. This is more in-character than the creators making a mistake, since [[spoiler:they somehow switch over to ''Redemption'' at the end]].
** Though this trope is played straight when Pat shows that he doesn't understand the proper conversion rate between yen and the US (or Canadian) dollar. When discussing how much money Nintendo still has after having a rough 2013, he thinks 20 billion yen equals 20 million dollars. This is incorrect, the actual conversion amount is 200 million dollars.

* AluminiumChristmasTrees: In their ''WWE All Stars'' and ''WWF No Mercy'' videos, they use a custom wrestler named the Shockmaster who seems to be created to be as ridiculous as possible. In reality, there was a wrestler called the Shockmaster and he looked pretty ridiculous (though not to the extent Pat managed in ''All Stars'').
** While playing various ''Franchise/SpiderMan'' games the two started listing various bizarre stories from the comics, all of which actually happened. The trope was fully invoked when Matt brought up how Peter's radioactive semen killed Mary-Jane in ''Comicbook/SpiderManReign'' only for Pat to declare it didn't happen.

* DarkSkinnedBlond: While playing as Shinobu in ''No More Heroes 2'', Woolie refers to this trope as "a race that only exists in anime."

** In part nine of their ''Metal Gear Rising Revengeance'' series, they make more than a few jabs at [[LetsPlay/TheKingOfHate DarkSydePhil]].

* SturgeonsLaw: The majority of the indie games they play during their Xbox Live Indie games videos are terrible. Only one or two usually have then losing their minds over how awesome it is.
