** In ''Minecraft #6'', after [[spoiler:Dodger is revived]], Dean wonders if she's a ManchurianAgent and suggests that [[spoiler:she isn't the real Dodger]] and just some clone with all of the real person's memories, a reference to when Barry the Chopper made Alphonse question his own existence in ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemist''. (One of the others catches on to this reference.)

** There is also the group's quest to obtain Nether Wart in ''Minecraft #5''. [[spoiler:After losing [=McJones=], Ray and Dean in the Nether and nearly suffering a TotalPartyKill to obtain the stuff, in the end, only Jeff is able to make any use of it. Except it turns out [[CriticalResearchFailure he has no idea how to]], making their extra excursion all for naught.]]

** Any Hardcore series that results in a [[KillEmAll total party wipe]], [[DownerEnding obviously]], especially if they don't even make it to the FinalBoss of that series.

* '''Ray''' Narvaez, Jr. / [[Creator/RayNarvaezJr BrownMan]] [-(''Minecraft #5'' and ''#7'')-]

* AscendedFanboy: Well, in a sense. Dean used to make several references to Creator/AchievementHunter in the earlier Hardcore seasons. Come ''Minecraft #5'', and former Hunter Creator/RayNarvaezJr joins the cast. Ray ends up recognizing many of Dean's {{Call Back}}s and {{In Joke}}s and their banter has them seen by many as bonafide BashBrothers.

** Happens to [=McJones=] in ''Terraria #2''. [[spoiler:Despite heavy losses along the way, he and Jeff fend off the Goblin army with complete ease and head to the final showdown, well-equipped and full of confidence. Until Jeff falls victim to an unexpected and easily-avoidable death, leaving [=McJones=] to square off against the Wall of Flesh all by himself. Although he still puts up a valiant fight, near the end of the battle the Wall of Flesh glitches and teleports onto him, doing tons of damage, and he ends up dying when the Wall of Flesh has but a measly few hundred HP left. It if hadn't been for the Wall of Flesh glitching, or Jeff's absurd death, the season probably would've been a victory.]]

* AbsenteeActor: While the series has always been fluid with its guest stars, there have remained a few fairly consistent players, but even the regular cast lineup has gone through several transitons:
** There were five regulars in the show's early days -- PBG, Dean, [=McJones=], Barry, and [=JonTron=] -- who featured in the first three seasons, plus two new guest stars each time. However, [=JonTron=] departed from the show after the third season, ''Terraria #1''. The next two seasons, ''Minecraft #2'' and ''Diablo II'', would then feature three guest stars each.
** The sixth season, ''Minecraft #3'', brought back [=JonTron=] for one more hurrah, after which he left the series for good. Meanwhile, it was the first season in which Barry did not appear, although he would return in the following season, ''[=MineZ=] #1'', and otherwise remained with the show. Up through the first fifteen seasons, Barry's only other absences were in ''Terraria #3'' (s11) and ''Minecraft #6'' (s13).
** Jeff and Jared, who both started off as occasional guest stars, were eventually promoted to regulars. Jeff appeared consistently from ''[=MineZ=] #1'' (s7) on, bringing the number of regulars back up to five. Jared appeared consistently from ''[=MineZ=] #2'' (s12) on, briefly bringing it to six regulars. ''[=MineZ=] #1'' & ''#2'' were also the only two seasons to feature all six members at once (albeit Jared was still considered a guest star in the former).
** For a long time, PBG, Dean, and [=McJones=] were the three people who appeared in every single season. This streak was finally broken with ''Starbound'' (s14), in which Dean and [=McJones=] did not appear, leaving PBG as the sole remaining person to appear in every season. While Dean came back for ''Minecraft #7'' (s15), it was announced that [=McJones=] had retired from Hardcore.
** ''Minecraft NB #1'', the 16th season and a soft reboot for the series, consists primarily of [=NormalBoots=] members (with Lucahjin as the lone guest star). Dean, Barry, Jeff, and Jared are all absent, leaving PBG as the only returning regular.
