A direct sequel to ''SPIPSPOPD'', ''[[http://hamumu.com/game.php?game=DRL SPISPOPD II: Dr. Lunatic]]'', was released seven years later in May 2000, and was the first game in the series played from a [[ThreeQuartersView 3/4]] TwoAndAHalfD perspective. Bouapha reprises his role as the player character, but this time, he has to deal with the game's eponymous character: a MadScientist who plans to take over the world by creating a ZombieApocalypse. Bouapha must WalkTheEarth and defeat Dr. Lunatic's poker buddies to obtain the four Keys of Lunacy that will allow him to open the front door of Dr. Lunatic's stronghold. Two {{expansion pack}}s were released for ''Dr. Lunatic'', the ''Expando-Pak'' and ''Fun Pack'', which primarily added more levels and monsters to the original game. ''Dr. Lunatic'' and its expansion packs were re-released in October 2011 as a single game, featuring slightly optimised code that improved the game's compatibility with the most modern operating systems.

''SPISPOPD'' (or Smashing Pumpkins into Small Piles of Putrid Debris) is an ActionAdventure game series from HamumuSoftware that started in 1993 with the game of the same name. It was the very first Hamumu game to be made entirely in 2D (not to mention the first Hamumu game period). It started the continued appearance of Bouapha, who is the so-called Gourdslayer (whatever that's supposed to be), even though the events in the VideoGame/AdventuresOfBouapha series occur before the events of SPISPOPD. After Mike Hommel quit his job, he created SPISPOPD II: Dr. Lunatic (known commonly as Dr. Lunatic), which set the standard for all other Hamumu games (low scale or otherwise) to come forth. Supreme With Cheese, which is basically a stand alone ExpansionPack to the game, is even more well known than the original Dr. Lunatic, mostly due to it's dynamic LevelEditor and improved variety. The first SPISPOPD had Bouapha traveling to Pumpkinia and retrieve the stolen candles and [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin smash the pumpkins responsible for stealing them]]. Its sequel marked the ever famous confrontation with the MadScientist himself, as Bouapha had to travel the world and claim the Keys of Lunacy from his "poker buddies" and stop him from stealing brains from the zombies. So far, there has yet to be another installment in this series, though Mike Hommel might get to it one day, though.

!!SPISPOPD smashes the following tropes into small piles of putrid debris:
* CombatTentacles: The Thing and Matilda-X.
* EvenBetterSequel: Indeed, Dr. Lunatic is a much better sequel to a still somewhat enjoyable game.
* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: In the first game, your are in fact smashing pumpkins. Averted in the second game, since there are hardly any pumpkins to smash, apart from a BonusLevel.
* FiveBadBand
** BigBad: Dr. Lunatic (who goes OneWingedAngel on any poor sap that [[WhoDares dares kill him]], preferably in the form of a Super Duper Zombie)
** TheDragon: The Thing (since it's Hamumu Software's take on ancient Lovecraftian beasts)
** DarkChick: Matilda, who is known as the Queen of Chaos.
** TerribleTrio: The Yeti Bros. Sven, Bjorn, and Olaf (who qualify as a sort of QuirkyMinibossSquad)
** TheBrute: Sphinxter
* EscortMission: Any level with Buddy Bunnies is usually one of these. One kind of Buddy Bunnies follows a predetermined path, while the other will follow Bouapha around.
* EveryCarIsAPinto: Autozoids and Traffic cars.
* FrickinLaserBeams: As used by various enemies, and they're FRICKIN' HUGE, too.
* GameWithinAGame: The SPISMall has various arcade game machines you can play provided you have enough coins.
* HarderThanHard: When cranked up to Lunatic difficulty, that is.
* LethalLavaLand: Any cavern themed world/level is guranteed to be exactly this.
* LimitBreak: The Rage attacks, which require filling up the Rage meter to the max in order to be activated. Depends mainly on the character being used and can be altered if a secondary weapon is equipped.
* LockedDoor
* MetalSlime: Mad Millennium Bug.
* MadScientist: Dr. Lunatic, the titular game's BigBad.
* NintendoHard: Any of SpiderPumpkin's levels. The original SPISPOPD is arguably this way as well.
* RuleOfCool: Pretty much anything that happens in both games exemplify this. Taken much further in Supreme with Cheese due to the LevelEditor.
* ShoutOut: Several, to {{Doom}}:
** The title, which originated in online discussions prior to the release of Doom in which people jokingly discussed what the ''next'' big game would be...which makes this game a {{Defictionalization}} as well!
** The first game's final boss, the Spider Pumpkin, is pretty obviously based on Doom's Spider Mastermind.
** The ending sequence of earlier versions of the game (later versions just made a generic "You Win!" screen after each world) had Bouapha returning to Earth only to find that the pumpkins had already invaded, just like Doom's ending.
* SlippySlideyIceWorld: Precisely where you'll fight the Yeti Bros. in both games.
* StandardStatusEffects: Poison and freeze.
* StatOVision: The Monster Scanner.
* StatusBuff: Acquired through various powerups.
* StoryArc: The main one in the entire [[TheMultiverse Dumbverse]].
* HubLevel: Dr. Lunatic's level structure consists of this.
* VideoGameCrueltyPotential: Using your You-Go to run over various monsters ''Grand Theft Auto'' style.
* WeaponOfChoice: Bouapha and his [[DropTheHammer red hammers]], which are efficient for both melee and range combat.
** Dr. Lunatic (playable version): Bolts of electricity which chain to multiple enemies.

** Mecha Bouapha: Same as his non-mechanical counterpart.
** Shtupid Shroom: Poison mushroom spores, which are the only weapon used by a playable character that can inflict DoT poison.
