** This Foil contrasts with Ichigo's orange hair.hair.

* HeroesWantRedheads: Edward is infatuated with Orihime, but he remains in denial. In [[spoiler: Chapter 39]], Ed even admits he loves Orihime’s auburn hair, which leaves her flustered and baffled because it's the first time a guy said he likes her hair.

* HeroicSecondWind: Remembering his DeclarationOfProtection to Orihime allows Edward to break free from Amelia's control and mind games. Doubles as both SugarWiki/CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming and SugarWiki/CrowningMomentOfAwesome when Ed delivers a brilliant Shut up Hannibal speech about his feelings on the LoveTriangle between him, Orihime, and Ichigo, and that he would protect Orihime, no matter what. [[spoiler: It is this moment that enables him to start seeing spirits]].

Anything That Moves is a disambiguation

* EstablishingCharacterMoment: The [[spoiler: Mod Souls]] very first appearance consists of Ritsuko curb stomping Ed and Al, and Kyuko sucking out Orihime's soul. It's truly an anticipating and frightening moment just to show how dangerous of a threat the [[spoiler: Mod Souls]] are. Morgan is also not exempt from this as he kept leering at Orihime's body and internally shooting perverted remarks the entire time her soul was being sucked out, and then angrily backhanded Winry when she tried to help her friend. He commented that she had a nice body as well, albeit not as good as Orihime's, heavily implying his intentions to rape both girls after their mission is complete.

* FashionModel: Chapter 23. When Edward and Alphonse are busy deciphering Dr. Marcoh's notes, Orihime temporarily works for a FashionMagazine because the original model broke her leg. Although, Orihime is very nervous, flustered, and shy at first, she only concedes when she's told she's a stand in for the model who was injured and couldn't make it.

Misuse will be deleted or moved to another trope when applicable. Administrivia.Zero Context Examples will be removed or commented out depending on the amount of context within the entry.

* IAteWHAT: When Ed, Al, and Orihime stop by a local food stall in Lior, the boys witness Orihime's infamous food combinations. Ed horrifically begins to understandably question what has he been eating up to that point. [[spoiler: However, he quickly dismisses it because it still tasted good, making him one of the few people who genuinely likes Orihime's cooking]].

* EasilyImpressed: Lampashaded by Edward. Orihime is shown be quite fascinated by the displays of alchemy, often exclaiming in glee, "Science is so awesome!"
--> (watching Cornello's performance, Ed, Al, and Orihime discuss his use of alchemy)
--> Orihime: "I don't know, but science so awesome!"
--> Edward: "Glad to see you're so easily impressed."
* EccentricMentor: The way Orihime describes Urahara as she tells Ed, Al, Winry, Pinako, Armstrong, and Nina about the time she and her friends went to rescue Rukia (omitting some parts for obvious reasons). They way she describes his Sink or Swim tactics is a put off for Ed and Al with both of them commenting they are glad to have Izumi as a teacher because Urahara is presented as extremely irresponsible for sending a group of barely trained teenagers into a suicidal rescue mission in their eyes.
-> Ed (visibly disturbed): "So, let me get this straight... You had a teacher who trained you for only two weeks, throw you into some rescue mission in a country you have little knowledge about, all for some girl you barely know? Am I the only one seeing something fucking wrong with that?"
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: Kyuko. A CreepyChild who dresses entirely in white, and she has very pale skin contrasted with her black eyes and hair. Orihime almost mistakes her for a ghost at first glance.
* EmotionlessGirl: Kyuko.
* EnemyMine: In Edward and Eria team up to take down Amelia.
** It was hinted at before and later outright confirmed by Morgan that the homunculi and [[spoiler: mod souls]] don't get along very well and don't like each other. However, they both agree that they both despise humans more than they hate each other.
* EnfantTerrible: Zero. It's already heavily implied that he has killed several families by the time he's properly introduced, and he is only ten years old. The apartment he's temporarily living in belongs to a family he just recently murdered. Combines with EvilOrphan once his past is revealed.
** Subverted with Kyuko. She's not a human child. She's a [[spoiler: mod soul]].
* EntitledToHaveYou: Trope by Edward. When Amelia has him in her mercy, she tries taunting and tormenting about his unrequited feelings for Orihime, drawing on his pain and anguish from being rejected by her days beforehand. Amelia tries to get him to do a FaceHeelTurn by coolly and darkly commenting that he should, in short terms, get Orihime back for not "owing" him her love after eveything he's done for her. Hearing this, Ed angrily remarks and retaliates that he is not petty enough to stoop to that level.
* EquivalentExchange: The law alchemy abides by this. Orihime's ability to completely ignore this is what convinces Edward to seek her out with the sheer thought of the possibility of her possessing a Philosopher's Stone. Turns out, she doesn't have one, her abilities are just...impossible to comprehend by scientific standards.
* EtherealWhiteDress: Kyuko.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: You can count the number of times a person has taken notice of Ed's attraction to Orihime and sometimes tease him about it. Even Al and Winry have noticed it. Orihime is the only who remains oblivious.
** Later on, Gracia notes that Orihime is starting to fall for Ed, and wonders if Orihime has noticed her growing affections for him.
* EveryoneLovesBlondes: Edward, Orihime's second LoveInterest.
** This Foil contrasts with Ichigo's orange hair.
* EvilCounterpart: Eria to Orihime. This is actually a subversion. Eria isn't necessarily evil, just very bitter and resentful.
** A straighter example. Morgan is an evil counterpart to Kon. They both have excessive perverted interest in women. However, while Kon is a PluckyComicRelief ChivalrousPervert who cares for his friends, Morgan is a remorseless, murderous Serial Rapist who thinks of women as little more than sex dolls. Ironically, Morgan does have success with women, but Kon doesn't. Their reactions when wronged ends with Kon taking on a ThouShallNotKill policy in life and Morgan to go on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge. In the end, although the are both [[spoiler: mod souls]] with a lewd interest in women, Kon is treated as a perverted annoyance while Morgan is treated as a dangerous and serious creep.
* EvilRedhead: Ritsuko.
* FakeMemories: Tsukishima does this to Chad and all of Ichigo's family and friends.
* FallenHero: Reo. [[spoiler: While he was alive, he spent his days battling Hollows until he met his tragic end]]. See LoveBeforeFirstSight for more details.
* FantasyCounterpartCulture: Orihime quickly realizes that the world of FMA is this to her own.
* FatalFlaw: For Orihime, it's selflessness. She's selflessness taking to its most logical conclusion. She is so selfless that she has no sense of self. It's even lampshaded by Hughes . To quote his words, she is so concerned with other people's happiness that she neglects her own happiness. If she keeps dimissing her own needs, while everyone around her is happy, she is going to end up alone, broken, and miserable in the end. [[spoiler: Comes with a bit of FridgeBrilliance when you realize that beneath Orihime's mask, she is essentially epitome of All Loving Heroine/ChronicHeroSyndrome meets Herioc Self Deprecation/StepfordSmiler]].
* FeminineWomenCanCook: Orihime is the TeamChef of the group.
* FightingDownMemoryLane: Happens in . Amelia tries to use Ed's negative feelings about the LoveTriangle and recent rejection to make him do a FaceHeelTurn. It's Ed's positive feelings and memories of Orihime that eventually allows him to gain his HeroicSecondWind.
* FirstKiss: [[spoiler: Orihime and Edward finally kiss in Chapter 39]].
** SacredFirstKiss: [[spoiler: Orihime has a MyGodWhatHaveIDone moment when she realizes that she shared her first kiss with Edward instead of Ichigo]], believing it to be a betrayal of her feelings for the latter.
*** In the end, their first kissed is PlayedForDrama, leaving both [[spoiler: Orihime and Edward in a state of emotional turmoil with Orihime feeling guilty for betraying her feelings for Ichigo, and Ed crushed by the former's rejection]].
* FirstLove: Ichigo for Orihime.
* FishOutOfTemporalWater: Orihime is trapped in the world of FMA, which is a 1910s FantasyCounterpartCulture of her world.
* FlowerMotif: Quite a few.
** Orihime and her Shun Shun Rikka, of course.
** Eria wears jasmines in her hair to represent her unconditional and everlasting love for Ichigo.
** Kyuko adorns white headband with a lily attached, most likely as a symbol of her undying loyalty and devotion.
* FlowersOfRomance: In [[spoiler: Chapter 34]], Edward buys Orihime a pair of rose stud earrings. It's subtle and heavily implied that this was his intended purpose because he is incredibly awkward and horrifically bad at expressing his feelings otherwise. Even the lady running the store comments on it, prompting Tsundere Ed to pull out his usual ShesNotMyGirlfriend line with his face sporting a LuminescentBlush. [[spoiler: Too bad this is the same chapter where Edward realizes he's a HopelessSuitor. But he does get one of the purest and brightest smiles Orihime has ever giving him up until that point]].
* FootsieUnderTheTable: Orihime tries to goad Edward into doing this, but he's completely clueless about the concept. Trope since Ed lives in a time before footsie was a flirting tactic. Though flirting wasn't in Orihime's agenda. Once it's explained to him, albeit much of both their embarrassment due to Orihime’s clumsy explanation, he starts to join in on the fun.
* ForScience: Downplayed and played for laughs. During her initial tag along, Al accuses Ed of viewing Orihime as an exotic science project. Giving her abilities, it's understandable why Ed is so damn curious. But after their TastesLikeFriendship, and especially after [[spoiler: chapter 15]], he drops this notion altogether. Ed is normally very reluctant, off put, and hostile with anyone tagging with them. But the most he showed when Orihime joined in was mild annoyance and slight displeasure since the good outweighs the bad because he could potentially have a healer and a cook traveling with him. And it's not really Orihime he's annoyed with, but her antics. For a time.
* ForcefulKiss: Happens to Ed in . Amelia delivers one of these to a paralyzed Ed. Giving her specialty, this was not good. Ed remarks that the kiss is cold and has no spark. He ends up biting her tongue to get away.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble:
** TheHeart Orihime (ditzy and forgiving Sanguine).
** TheNapoleon Edward (brash and determined Choleric).
** GentleGiant Alphonse (loyal and thoughtful Melancholic).
** WrenchWench Winry (passionate and supportive Phlegmatic).
* FreakOut: Orihime has a PTSD one at the end of . It takes Ed giving her a CoolDownHug for her to calm down from her hysterics.
* FreudianExcuse: Kyuko's AndIMustScream backstory. See GoMadFromTheIsolation for more details.
** It's revealed in Zero's backstory that, although, his family was a little impoverished, he used to be a very sweet and naive child. However, after his powers started to develop, things began to change. He was called a "freak" everywhere he went, and his own parents starts belittling and cursing him behind his back, calling him a "monster". Even his own mother IHaveNoSon regrets she ever gave birth to him. This revelation breaks him and puts him in a constant state of denial just to keep himself sane. Afterwards, it gets even worse. Later on, his parents sold him to a MadScientist, and, for over year, he endures the scientist's painful, terrible experiments. When he escapes and sees his parents again, he finds them gloating about being rid of the "monster child", and rejoicing about having a much more "normal" child on the way. Eventually, Zero snaps and kills his mother, father, and unborn sibling in a fit of rage. Man, with all this, no wonder Zero's the warped and twisted child he is in the present. And all this before he was ten!
** For Morgan, see LoveMakesYouEvil.
* FreudianTrio: Trope. Orihime, Edward, and Alphonse, respectively.
* FriendToAllChildren: Ritsuko, surprisingly. Morgan is always fascinated and bewildered that an AxCrazy BloodKnight like her gets along so well with children. According to Kyuko, Ritsuko marks them as potential candidates to fight her one day.
** Eria has been playing with children during her introduction.
** FriendToAllLivingThings: Orihime. She plays both tropes. She's shown to being very caring towards just about everyone and everything. The dead are not excluded. Comes with being an All Loving Heroine. Even Nina and Sammy, at one point, look up to her as a Cool Big Sis.
*** Alphonse just adores cats.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Zero in a nutshell. He goes from UsedToBeASweetKid in his backstory to an EnfantTerrible in the present. And all because people found his powers freaky. Not helped with the fact that his parents sold him to a MadScientist because they believed he was a "IHaveNoSon monster", and look at what that did. Great job!
* FusionFic: As the story progresses, it's made more and more apparent that both the universes of Manga/Bleach and Manga/FullmetalAlchemist are extremely intertwined. Crossover Like they are two sides of the same coin. They are no more separated than how the Soul Society is separated from the World of the Living.
* TheGadFly: Liza has firmly established herself as this, slyly teasing Ed on his relationship with Orihime and riling him up in various ways. Although, her inner monologue reveals that she has somewhat of an ulterior motive for that by wanting to gauge Ed's and Orihime's relationship for unknown purposes.
* GainingTheWillToKill: Eria coolly remarks to Ed that, no matter how much he wants to stick to his ThouShallNotKill policy, he's going to have to learn to take a life. [[spoiler: It's hinted that she's noticed his slowly yet steadily increased spiritual powers. Because of this, it would be a matter of time before he's able to fully see and fight Hollows, and considering that all Hollows were once human souls... Yeah]].
* GateOfTruth: Alchemists who have performed are the taking to the gate. Let's just say the experience is not Understatement pleasant.
* GenkiGirl:
** Winry, especially when it comes to automail.
** Orihime, sometimes, when it comes to eating new foods or trying new recipes.
* GentleGiant: Alphonse is an animated suit of armor. But don't let his appearance scare you, he's actually really kind and sweet.
* GhostReunionEnding: . Reo has one last reunion with his little brother, Riku, where he apologizes for all the pain caused him.
* GhostlyGoals: Orihime is always determined to help a ghost achieve their wish. Becomes a case of FridgeBrilliance because Orihime isn't a Shinigami Soul Reaper, so this is the only way she could help a lost soul pass on.
* GirlishPigtails: went from wearing two long, braided pigtails to a more shorter, more traditional style of pigtails. It symbolizes her status as TheCutie.
* GirlyGirlWithATomboyStreak: Orihime is a sensitive and caring girl with BarrierWarrior powers and, suprisingly, boyish interests such as boys comics, sci-fi, and robots. .
* GivingSomeoneThePointerFinger: A flustered Ed does this when giving a hospitalized Orihime his speech.
* GoMadFromTheIsolation: Kyuko's backstory. Subverted in that fact that she didn't go insane, just became really emotionless.
* GreenEyedMonster: The cause of Edward's spazziness in regards to Orihime. [[spoiler: Though, in Chapter 31, when Ed finally finds out that Orihime is in love with someone else, he starts to feel jealous and deeply hurt, although, he would never admit it. Unbeknownst to him, that someone is Ichigo]].
** He does finally find out Orihime is in love with Ichigo, effectively becoming a HopelessSuitor.
* GuiltComplex: Ed suffers from this and this is sole motivation for getting Al's body back. Hughes's death made his guilt even worse for getting someone killed trying to help him fix his mistakes.
** It's eventually revealed that Al feels the same way. He knew that there may be risks to Human Transmutation, and still went along with it anyway. He even laments that he doesn't want his body back, if people are going to keep dying for his sake. Luckily, Orihime manages to snap him out of it, stating that if he gives up, then it would make the efforts of everyone who has helped him and his brother so far meaningless.
** Orihime is the greatest example. It may subtle with only one or two characters implying that she's suffering from this in the beginning, [[spoiler: but comes to the forefront after her FreakOut. It's revealed that she suffers terribly from SurvivorGuilt after the Hueco Mundo incident. Because of this, Orihime is very hesitant and feels unworthy of asking for help for her personal problems, lamenting that if she can't solve her own problems, then she's weak, useless, and a burden to others. Ed and Nina slowly becoming more spiritual aware just adds to her guilt]].
* HandicappedBadass: Ed, due to his automail limbs. Comes with its own perks and drawbacks.
* HarmfulToMinors: Implied. Chloe witnesses her mother's rape and murder.
* HasAType: [[spoiler: An odd example. Winry is left wondering if Orihime has a type after she eagerly describes Ichigo's personality, which is uncannily similar to Ed's, except for a few minor flaws/differences here and there. Does she have a thing for hot tempered, Determinator impatient and reckless, brash Jerks With Hearts Of Gold who hide their kind and caring nature under a Jerkass facade and both also happened to lose their mothers at a young age, which resulted in Mangst both of them feeling guilty over their moms' deaths and losing a bit of their optimism? Plus, they have younger siblings, whom they are very protective of. Coincidence? Yeah, it's easy to see why Winry thinks Orihime has a type. Although, Orihime only has eyes for Ichigo. She doesn't even think about Ed in that way. Or does she]]?
* HateAtFirstSight: It's more like "You make me uncomfortable at first sight." Orihime has this reaction when she meets Fuhrer King Bradley. [[spoiler: Trope, since Orihime could sense spirit energy, she could feel that Bradley's spirit energy is almost the same as Lust and Gluttony]].
* HatesBeingTouched: A downplayed example. As of , Orihime has developed signs of this. Although, she only freaks out when people who wear the color white touch her because it triggers her TraumaButton. Aware of this, Edward consciously makes sure his white gloves are off before he touches her.
* HeadTurningBeauty: Guys constantly drool after Orihime. Sometimes girls do, too. And yet she doesn't know why.
* HealingHands: Orihime, thanks to her Soten Kisshun.
* TheHeart: Orihime tends to be the moral/emotional support of the group.
* TheHeartless: .
* HeWillNotCrySoICryForHim: Winry does this for Edward and Alphonse because Ed won't cry and Al is incapable of shedding tears.
** A different variant. Sometimes Orihime sheds tears for Ed as well. Not because he won't cry himself. . She cries when he is in so much emotional pain and inner turmoil.
* HeldBackInSchool: Orihime thinks it over to herself that this might end up happening to her if she ever returns home because she missed too many days of classes and assignments.
* HeldGaze: Happens in [[spoiler: Chapter 39]]. When Edward and Orihime are sharing the cookies she baked, their hands accidentally touched as they are reaching the last one. They stare longingly into each other's eyes before they end up [[spoiler: kissing]].
* HellBentForLeather: Ed's signature choice in fashion. Unfortunately for him, no one likes his tacky taste and gaudy fashion sense.
* HerBoyfriendsJacket: Although not in a romantic relationship yet (though they do have quite a bit of ShipTease moments), Edward often lends Orihime his signature red coat. This serves a practical purpose. After her FreakOut, Ed's coat is one of the few things that calms Orihime down whenever her TraumaButton gets triggered. And Orihime fondly comments while sporting a LuminescentBlush that the coat smells just like him. Bonus points in that WordOfGod explicitly states that this is sort of a RedStringOfFate between them, so expect more ShipTease involving Ed's coat.
* HeroicBSOD: . [[spoiler: Orihime]] has a temporary yet powerful one when she believes [[spoiler: Ichigo]] is dead, sporting DullEyesOfUnhappiness and BrokenTears. She was even unable to heal Ed's injuries the first time around because she was too distraught with misery and grief. It took the efforts of [[spoiler: Edward, Alphonse, and Gracia for her to finally cheer up]].
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: At first glance it's hard to tell, but later on it eventually becomes apparent that [[spoiler: Orihime doesn't think very highly of herself and has some serious self esteem issues all wrapped up along with being an InsecureLoveInterest for Ichigo]], and has a [[spoiler: massive GuiltComplex over his near death]].
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Orihime is beginning to form this dynamic with Winry.
** PlatonicLifePartners: Orihime is also extremely close to Al, to the point where Al convinces Ed to apologize to her after he makes her cry, and Orihime helps Al to sort his problems out with Ed.
** Becomes a case of FridgeLogic when you realize that Al and Winry are avid Edward/Orihime shippers.
* HiddenHeartOfGold: Winry believes Orihime has an infatuation for these types of men. Just add BigBrotherInstinct into the mix for added flavor/appeal.
* HighPressureEmotion: Orihime does this when she imagines Edward in his underwear.
** Ed does this when he discovers the reason Orihime is so panicky and flustered around him was because she saw him once in nothing but his boxers.
* HoldingHands: Usually initiated by Orihime in a non-romantic way, mostly when she's overly excited. And most of the time, she doesn't notice. Though, Edward doesn't see it as that, often blushing, and inwardly comments how soft and small her hand is. But he makes no effort to let go.
** When Orihime does starts to notice this and sometimes blushes, it's a sign that she's developing feelings for Edward.
* HoneyTrap: This is Amelia's main method to sucking the life out of men.
* HopelessSuitor: After discovering that Orihime is in love with Ichigo, Edward may not be aware of the full extent of his feelings for her, or he could be in superlative denial, but he becomes subconscious of the fact that he is this.
--> Yeah… Right… He had a feeling for a while ever since the day Orihime fell ill. She all but blurted out in her delirious state that she liked a guy. He just didn't know how strong a like she meant. She didn't just like him, she was wholehearted in love with him.
--> But what does it matter to him? They were just friends, after all. There was never really anything going between them. They weren't dating, so he shouldn't care. They were...just friends. That's all they ever will be, and he was satisfied with that.
--> Though why does he get the feeling that he was being rejected?
* HumansAreBastards: This is Eria's view on humanity.
--> (Eria coldly speaking to Ed about Amelia's actions): "Because she's human. A pathetic, worthless human. Humans are such greedy and selfish creatures. Arrogant and self centered to a fault. They're always easily influenced by their own narrow minded foolishness. That loathsome existence… That's what it means to be human."
* HumbleHeroine: Orihime always has a ThinkNothingOfIt mindset when it comes to her accomplishments. [[spoiler: This is deconstructed in a way because Orihime believes what she does is SO insignificant, it's not even worth praise to begin with]].
* HunterOfMonsters: Since Shinigami Soul Reapers aren't found in Amestris, Orihime considers it her duty and responsiblity to take care of any [[spoiler: Hollow and supernatural]] threats harming poor, unsuspecting people. However, she doesn't take any excitement of joy out of it, and only does it to protect the innocents. And since [[spoiler: Hollows]] are essentially fallen souls that have been corrupted by their hatred and despair post-death, she deems killing them as a sign of mercy since they mostly ICannotSelfTerminate Cannot Self Terminate. Because of this, ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies comes into play, and why she continuously keeps Ed and Al LockedOutOfTheLoop.
* ICantDance: In [[spoiler: Chapter 39]], Orihime laments to Edward that she can't dance and inwardly remarks that she would just embarrass the two of them if she tried. However, this doesn't deter Ed and he proceeds to teach her how to dance.
* ICantSenseTheirPresence: [[spoiler: The cause of Orihime's HeroicBSOD in chapters 23 and 24]].
* IHaveNoSon: Zero's mother's response when he shows her his newly developed powers (that is not alchemy). And it only goes downhill from there.
* IJustWantToBeBeautiful: The main reason Amelia made a Deal With the Devil with a [[spoiler: Hollow]]. To keep herself looking young and beautiful forever.
* ILoveTheDead: [[spoiler: Morgan]] all but stated that he wouldn't mind having [[spoiler: sex with Orihime's corpse, Squick implying he has done this before]]. And it shows as Morgan rapes a policewoman, kills her, rapes her corpse before dumping her body somewhere all because [[spoiler: Yandere Orihime may or may not have a lover]], and he needed to let out some frustration and lust on the poor woman.
* ISeeDeadPeople: slowly starts to gain enough to be able to see .
** This or, more accurately, "I Hear Dead People" is generally the first sign a character either has or is gaining spiritual awareness.
* IWasBeatenByAGirl: Lampshaded. Winry open laughs at Edward and Alphonse when she quickly finds out they were beaten by a girl in a sparing match. This is downplayed because it's not the fact that they were beaten by a girl that she finds amusing, but because they were beaten by Orihime.
* IceQueen: Eria's true personality underneath her BitchInSheepsClothing facade. She is generally cold, indifferent, and aloof to everything around her. At least, when she's not acting like a total ProperLady in front of people who doesn't know her or she doesn't know, or near children. She later reveals to show complete contempt towards humanity as a whole as unveiled with her second interaction with Ed.
* IdenticalStranger: Ed's shocked reaction when he first meets Eria. She looks like Orihime in every way, except she has a slightly tanner skin, brown eyes, and black hair. It's revealed later that Eria is [[spoiler: Orihime's incarnation]].
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Orihime only has eyes for Ichigo, but there have been some Ship Tease moments between her and Ed.
** Despite being in love with Ichigo, Orihime, after her [[spoiler: second kiss]] with Edward, with much contemplation and mental anguish, freely admits to herself that she honestly would not mind being Ed's girlfriend. She considers him to be the one and only exception who is not Ichigo.
* IgnoreTheFanservice: . Edward is genuinely disgusted by Amelia's attempts to manipulate and seduce him. Amelia's last straw is to ask him if he would be more accepting of her advances if she took on Orihime’s appearance. Ed takes that suggesting as well as you might think.
* ImCryingButIDontKnowWhy: In , Orihime does this. As she's talking about how she meet Ichigo, she starts shedding tears. She is just as confused as everyone else on why she suddenly started crying. It takes her a few minutes to realize she's crying because [[spoiler: Ichigo's crying. He's in pain]].
* ImaginaryFriend: . makes friends with Sarah, who Ed, Al, Winry, and Pinako believe to imaginary. Turns out Sarah is actually a [[spoiler: dead spirit]].
* ImportantHairCut: . [[spoiler: Nina cuts her her hair to show her renewed resolve after coming to terms with the tragedies that have befell her]].
* ImpossiblyDeliciousFood: Orihime has the amazingly astounding ability to make anything she cooks ridiculously good. This basically what happens when you brillantly combine CordonBleughChef with SupremeChef. Everyone greatly enjoys her cooking once they try it, especially Edward who won't stop commenting how delicious it is.
** Because of this, Ed encourages Orihime to pursue her dream of opening up her own bakery or diner, something she secretly feels uncertain and insecure about because nobody has ever supported her cooking skills/dreams before. Not even Ichigo or Tatsuki.
* InLoveWithYourCarnage: PlayedWith. Ritsuko implies if Ed was more ruthless and merciless, she would have fallen for him.
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: It's written in one of Orihime's diary entries that all she wanted to do was to help people in life, defining it as her life's goal.
* InelegantBlubbering: Orihime does this in when she somehow feels that Ed's in a lot of pain.
* InnocenceLost: The entire premise of Zero's backstory, systemically turning him from a UsedToBeASweetKid to an EnfantTerrible. Fittingly the title of the chapter is called "Naive No More".
* InnocentBlueEyes: Both Winry and Nina sport this. Orihime has gray eyes, fitting her gentle, innocent, and idealistic nature and healing capabilities.
* InnocentCohabitation: Since Orihime travels with Edward and Alphonse, they often share a hotel suite, albeit with different bedrooms of course.
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: Orihime. It's not that she goes around nude. She's very much aware of what nudity means, and she dresses modestly. She just remains completely unaware of the attention men give her.
** ReluctantFanserviceGirl: The one time she is asked to model, Orihime becomes very shy and flustered because she knows exactly what modeling entails. Even goes as far as to request that all her modeling dresses and outfits are somewhat modest.
* InnocentlyInsensitive:
** . Edward makes an offhand comment about Sarah (whom he believes to imaginary), thinking this would cheer a depressed [[spoiler: Nina]] up; unbeknownst to him, Sarah is dead. [[spoiler: Nina bursts into tears as a response]].
** Orihime remains completely unaware that her talking fondly about Ichigo makes Edward feel hurt and jealous.
** Ed isn't in the clear either, when he reads Orihime's diary without permission.
* InsecureLoveInterest: . As Orihime talks to Winry about her romantic woes, it becomes obvious that she's this towards Ichigo. [[spoiler: After everything that's happened to her before being trapped in an unknown world, her insecurities and lack of self confidence are, tragically, quite understandable]].
** It's heavily implied that part of the reason Ed remains so in denial about his feelings for Orihime is because ICantBelieveAGuyLikeYouWouldNoticeMe he feels incredibly insecure around her, and that deems himself second best to Ichigo, Orihime's FirstLove.
*** A MonsterOfTheWeek villainess even tries to exploit this to make him do a FaceHeelTurn. Fortunately, it doesn't work.
** Due to her pathological HeroicSelfDeprecation, Orihime feels very unworthy of being anyone's LoveInterest. Because she has so little self worth, she basically doesn't see herself as someone to take seriously in a romantic relationship or worth loving. When admitting to wanting date Ed, she also contemplates that she has to be the "perfect" girlfriend, so he won't be ashamed of going out with someone like her.
* InvisibleToNormals: True to the nature of Bleach, [[spoiler: humans with little to no spirit energy can not see Masquerade souls or Hollows]].
* ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies: Every time Edward confronts Orihime about a [[spoiler: Hollow attack]], she subtly replies with this. He isn't happy.
* ItWasAGift: The earrings Edward bought Orihime holds very special place in her heart.
