But after their TastesLikeFriendship, and especially after [[spoiler: [[RescueRomance chapter 15]]]], he drops this notion altogether. Ed is normally very reluctant, off put, and hostile with anyone tagging with them. But the most he showed when Orihime joined in was mild annoyance and slight displeasure since the good outweighs the bad because he could potentially have a [[HealingHands healer]] and a [[CordonBleughChef cook]] traveling with him. And it's not really Orihime he's annoyed with, but her [[CloudCuckooLander antics]]. For a time.

[[spoiler: Though, in Chapter 31, when [[LoveTriangle Ed finally finds out that Orihime is in love with someone else]], [[HeartbrokenBadass he starts to feel jealous and deeply hurt]], although, [[ShesNotMyGirlfriend he would never admit it]]. Unbeknownst to him, that someone is [[UnknownRival Ichigo]]]].
** He does finally find out Orihime is in love with Ichigo, effectively becoming a HopelessSuitor.
* GuiltComplex: Ed suffers from this and this is [[BigBrotherInstinct sole motivation for getting Al's body back]]. Hughes's death made his guilt even worse for getting someone killed trying to help him fix his mistakes.
** It's eventually revealed that Al feels the same way. He knew that there may be risks to [[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Human Transmutation]], and still went along with it anyway. He even laments that he doesn't want his body back, if people are going to keep dying for his sake. Luckily, [[TheHeart Orihime]] manages to snap him out of it, stating that if he gives up, then it would make the efforts of everyone who has helped him and his brother so far meaningless.
** [[StepfordSmiler Orihime]] is the greatest example. It may subtle with only one or two characters implying that she's suffering from this in the beginning, [[spoiler: but comes to the forefront after her FreakOut. It's revealed that she suffers terribly from SurvivorGuilt after the [[DamselInDistress Hueco Mundo]] [[BreakTheCutie incident]]. Because of this, [[HeroicSelfDeprecation Orihime is very hesitant and feels unworthy of asking for help for her personal problems, lamenting that if she can't solve her own problems, then she's weak, useless, and a burden to others]]. Bonus points in that WordOfGod explicitly states that this is sort of a RedStringOfFate between them, so expect more ShipTease involving Ed's coat.
* HeroesWantRedheads: Edward is infatuated with [[LoveInterest Orihime]], but he remains in [[ShesNotMyGirlfriend denial]]. In [[spoiler: [[ShipTease Chapter 39]]]], Ed even admits he loves Orihime’s auburn hair, which leaves her [[LuminescentBlush flustered and baffled]] because it's the first time a guy said he likes her hair.

Because of this, ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies comes into play, and why she continuously keeps Ed and Al LockedOutOfTheLoop.
* IAteWHAT: When Ed, Al, and Orihime stop by a local food stall in Lior, the boys witness Orihime's infamous [[BizarreTasteInFood food combinations]]. Ed horrifically begins to understandably question what has he been eating up to that point. [[spoiler: [[SubvertedTrope However, he quickly dismisses it because it still tasted good]], making him one of the few people who genuinely likes Orihime's [[CordonBleughChef cooking]]]].
* ICantDance: In [[spoiler: [[DanceOfRomance Chapter 39]]]], Orihime laments to Edward that she can't dance and inwardly remarks that she would just embarrass the two of them if she tried. However, this doesn't deter Ed and he proceeds to teach her how to dance.

* IceQueen: Eria's true personality underneath her BitchInSheepsClothing facade. She is generally cold, indifferent, and aloof to everything around her. At least, when she's not acting like a total ProperLady in front of people who doesn't know her or she doesn't know, [[FriendToAllChildren or near children]]. She later reveals to show [[HumansAreBastards complete contempt towards humanity as a whole]] as unveiled with her second interaction with Ed.

* ForScience: Downplayed and played for laughs. During her initial tag along, Al accuses Ed of viewing Orihime as an exotic science project. Giving [[BarrierWarrior her]] [[RealityWarper abilities]], it's understandable why Ed is so ''damn'' curious. But after their TastesLikeFriendship, and especially after [[spoiler: [[RescueRomance chapter 15]]]], he drops this notion altogether. Ed is normally very reluctant, off put, and hostile with anyone tagging with them. But the most he showed when Orihime joined in was mild annoyance and slight displeasure since the good outweighs the bad because he could potentially have a [[HealingHands healer]] and a [[CordonBleughChef cook]] traveling with him. And it's not really Orihime he's annoyed with, but her [[CloudCuckooLander antics]]. For a time.
* ForcefulKiss: Happens to Ed in [[spoiler: Chapter 41]]. [[TheVamp Amelia]] delivers one of these to a paralyzed Ed. Giving her [[KissofDeath specialty]], this was not good. Ed remarks that the kiss is cold and has no spark. He ends up [[TongueTrauma biting her tongue]] to get away.

Eventually, Zero ''snaps'' and [[SelfMadeOrphan kills]] [[AssholeVictim his mother, father]], and unborn sibling [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge in a fit of rage]]. Man, with all this, no wonder Zero's the [[EnfantTerrible warped and twisted child]] he is in the present. And all this before he was '''ten'''!

* FusionFic: As the story progresses, it's made more and more apparent that both the universes of ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'' and ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' are extremely intertwined. [[{{Crossover}} Like they are two sides of the same coin]]. They are no more separated than how the Soul Society is separated from the World of the Living.
* TheGadFly: Liza has [[EstablishingCharacterMoment firmly established herself]] as this, slyly teasing [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Ed]] on his relationship with [[LoveInterest Orihime]] and riling him up in [[BerserkButton various]] [[CrazyJealousGuy ways]]. [[spoiler: Though, in Chapter 31, when [[LoveTriangle Ed finally finds out that Orihime is in love with someone else]], [[HeartbrokenBadass he starts to feel jealous and deeply hurt]], although, [[ShesNotMyGirlfriend he would never admit it]]. Unbeknownst to him, that someone is [[UnknownRival Ichigo]]]].
** He does finally find out Orihime is in love with Ichigo, effectively becoming a HopelessSuitor.
* GuiltComplex: Ed suffers from this and this is [[BigBrotherInstinct sole motivation for getting Al's body back]]. Hughes's death made his guilt even worse for getting someone killed trying to help him fix his mistakes.
** It's eventually revealed that Al feels the same way. He knew that there may be risks to [[DangerousForbiddenTechnique Human Transmutation]], and still went along with it anyway. He even laments that he doesn't want his body back, if people are going to keep dying for his sake. Luckily, [[TheHeart Orihime]] manages to snap him out of it, stating that if he gives up, then it would make the efforts of everyone who has helped him and his brother so far meaningless.
** [[StepfordSmiler Orihime]] is the greatest example. It may subtle with only one or two characters implying that she's suffering from this in the beginning, [[spoiler: but comes to the forefront after her FreakOut. It's revealed that she suffers terribly from SurvivorGuilt after the [[DamselInDistress Hueco Mundo]] [[BreakTheCutie incident]]. Because of this, [[HeroicSelfDeprecation Orihime is very hesitant and feels unworthy of asking for help for her personal problems, lamenting that if she can't solve her own problems, then she's weak, useless, and a burden to others]]. [[AgentScully Ed]] and [[TheCutie Nina]] slowly becoming more [[MySignificanceSenseIsTingling spiritual aware]] just adds to her guilt]].

Because of this, ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies comes into play, and why she continuously keeps Ed and Al LockedOutOfTheLoop.
* IAteWHAT: When Ed, Al, and Orihime stop by a local food stall in Lior, the boys witness Orihime's infamous [[BizarreTasteInFood food combinations]]. Ed horrifically begins to understandably question what has he been eating up to that point. [[spoiler: [[SubvertedTrope However, he quickly dismisses it because it still tasted good]], making him one of the few people who genuinely likes Orihime's [[CordonBleughChef cooking]]]].
* ICantDance: In [[spoiler: [[DanceOfRomance Chapter 39]]]], Orihime laments to Edward that she can't dance and inwardly remarks that she would just embarrass the two of them if she tried. However, this doesn't deter Ed and he proceeds to teach her how to dance.

* ISeeDeadPeople: [[spoiler: Nina]] slowly starts to gain enough [[spoiler: spiritual awareness]] to be able to see [[spoiler: souls and Hollows]].
** This or, more accurately, "I Hear Dead People" is generally the first sign a character either has or is gaining spiritual awareness.
* IWasBeatenByAGirl: [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]]. Winry open laughs at Edward ''and'' Alphonse when she quickly finds out they were beaten by a girl in a sparing match. This is [[DownplayedTrope downplayed]] because it's not the fact that they were beaten by ''a'' girl that she finds amusing, but because they were beaten by ''[[CloudcuckooLander Orihime]]''.
* IceQueen: Eria's true personality underneath her BitchInSheepsClothing facade. She is generally cold, indifferent, and aloof to everything around her. At least, when she's not acting like a total ProperLady in front of people who doesn't know her or she doesn't know, [[FriendToAllChildren or near children]]. She later reveals to show [[HumansAreBastards complete contempt towards humanity as a whole]] as unveiled with her second interaction with Ed.
* IdenticalStranger: Ed's shocked reaction when he first meets Eria. She looks like Orihime in every way, except she has a slightly tanner skin, brown eyes, and black hair. It's revealed later that Eria is [[spoiler: [[SoulFragment Orihime's incarnation]]]].
* IfItsYouItsOkay: Orihime only has eyes for [[SingleTargetSexuality Ichigo]], but there have been some [[ShipTease Ship Tease]] moments between her and [[SecondLove Ed]].
** Despite being in love with [[FirstLove Ichigo]], Orihime, after her [[spoiler: [[OfficialKiss second kiss]]]] with Edward, with much contemplation and [[HeroicSelfDeprecation mental anguish]], freely admits to herself that she honestly would not mind being Ed's girlfriend. She considers him to be the one and only exception who is not [[SingleTargetSexuality Ichigo]].
* IgnoreTheFanservice: [[spoiler: Chapter 41]]. [[CelibateHero Edward]] is genuinely disgusted by [[TheVamp Amelia's]] attempts to manipulate and seduce him. Amelia's last straw is to ask him if he would be more accepting of her advances if she took on [[LoveInterest Orihime’s]] appearance. [[BerserkButton Ed takes that suggesting as well as you might think]].
* ImCryingButIDontKnowWhy: In [[spoiler: Chapter 34]], Orihime does this. As she's talking about how she meet Ichigo, she starts shedding tears. She is just as confused as everyone else on why she suddenly started crying. It takes her a few minutes to realize she's crying because [[spoiler: [[LivingEmotionalCrutch Ichigo's]] [[MySignificanceSenseIsTingling crying. He's in pain]]]].
* ImaginaryFriend: [[spoiler: Chapter 18]]. [[spoiler: Nina]] makes friends with Sarah, who Ed, Al, Winry, and Pinako believe to imaginary. Turns out Sarah is actually a [[spoiler: [[NotSoImaginaryFriend dead spirit]]]].
* ImportantHairCut: [[spoiler: Chapter 19]]. [[spoiler: Nina cuts her her hair to show her renewed resolve after coming to terms with the [[BreakTheCutie tragedies that have befell her]]]].
* ImpossiblyDeliciousFood: [[FeminineWomenCanCook Orihime]] has the amazingly astounding ability to make ''anything'' she cooks ridiculously good. This basically what happens when you brillantly combine CordonBleughChef with SupremeChef. Everyone greatly enjoys her cooking once they try it, ''especially'' [[BigEater Edward]] who won't stop commenting how delicious it is.
** Because of this, [[SecondLove Ed]] encourages Orihime to pursue her dream of opening up her own bakery or diner, something she secretly feels uncertain and insecure about because nobody has ever supported her cooking skills/dreams before. Not even [[FirstLove Ichigo]] or [[ChildhoodFriend Tatsuki]].
* InLoveWithYourCarnage: PlayedWith. [[BloodKnight Ritsuko]] implies if [[TechnicalPacifist Ed]] was more ruthless and merciless, she would have fallen for him.
* IncorruptiblePurePureness: It's written in one of Orihime's diary entries that all she wanted to do was to help people in life, defining it as [[GoalInLife her life's goal]].
* InelegantBlubbering: Orihime does this in [[spoiler: Chapter 34]] when she somehow feels that Ed's in a lot of pain.
* InnocenceLost: The entire premise of [[CreepyChild Zero's]] [[FreudianExcuse backstory]], systemically turning him from a UsedToBeASweetKid to an EnfantTerrible. Fittingly the title of the chapter is called "Naive No More".
* InnocentBlueEyes: Both [[GenkiGirl Winry]] and [[TheCutie Nina]] sport this. Orihime has gray eyes, fitting her [[TheHeart gentle]], [[IncorruptiblePurePureness innocent]], and [[WideEyedIdealist idealistic]] nature and [[HealingHands healing]] capabilities.
* InnocentCohabitation: Since Orihime travels with Edward and Alphonse, they often share a hotel suite, albeit with different bedrooms of course.

Edward makes an offhand comment about [[CuteGhostGirl Sarah]] (whom he believes to [[ImaginaryFriend imaginary]]), thinking this would cheer a depressed [[spoiler: [[BreakTheCutie Nina]]]] up; unbeknownst to him, [[KillTheCutie Sarah is dead]]. [[spoiler: Nina [[BrokenTears bursts into tears]] as a response]].

** It's heavily implied that part of the reason [[SheIsNotMyGirlfriend Ed remains so in denial about his feelings]] for [[LoveInterest Orihime]] is because [[ICantBelieveAGuyLikeYouWouldNoticeMe he feels incredibly insecure around her]], and that deems himself [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter second best]] to [[UnknownRival Ichigo]], Orihime's FirstLove.
