** Taichi/Sora and Yamato/Sora fans still have it out once in a while. Taichi/Sora fans rationalize that Yamato comes off as a huge douche for part of the second season and therefore can't stand the thought of him ending up with Sora, or that Taichi and Sora were "obviously" flirting/in love with each other for the entire first season so Sora ending up with Yamato instead was a giant cop-out. Yamato/Sora fans use the DistantFinale, the fact that a good part of the Taichi/Sora subtext was [[DubText dub only]], how Sora ''willingly'' chose Yamato over Taichi without anyone pressuring her into it (and having her back off could have sexist UnfortunateImplications about her feeling that "she owes Taichi affection"), the other fact that Taichi got over Sora's supposed "friendzoning" ''in less than 24 hours'' (and even showed attraction to ''another girl'' named [[TheCutie Catherine]] so he wasn't as "hurt" and "spurned" as Taichi/Sora fans insisted he was), and how it breaks the "Hero gests together with Heroine" clichés for rationalization, with some of them pointing out that many people end up with someone other than their oldest friend/first crush. And in the middle, the Taichi/Yamato fans- often considered the most populous shippers in Digimon fandom- are very bitter because of the constant ShipTease between Taichi/Yamato in the first season, including official Taichi/Yamato art published in a magazine. The whole debate over whether Yamato and Sora were StrangledByTheRedString or not will probably never fully die out, in fact -- the aforementioned revelation that a part of the Taichi/Sora ShipTease was DubText is also paired with [[http://jippy-kandi.tumblr.com/post/57207225067/sorato-taiora-digimon-japanese-sub-vs-english-dub the apparent removal]] of ''actual'' Sora/Yamato ShipTease.

* Let's not even get STARTED on the shipping wars in ''LightNovel/ACertainMagicalIndex''. Given that there are over TEN THOUSAND girls in his harem if we count the Sisters as individuals (and there's more than enough evidence to prove that), it gets pretty bloody over in that fandom assuming you're not in the sizable portion who just wants him to MarryThemAll.

* ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'': Some Shizuo/Izaya fans will rip out the throats of anyone who mentions Namie or Vorona, while Mikado is just torn to pieces between everyone who wants him as their [[OneTruePairing OTP]] {{uke}}.

* ''LightNovel/{{Haganai}}'': Kodaka/Sena and Kodaka/Yozora shippers. In other parts of the vast reaches of the internet, there's a battle brewing between those who prefer to see Kodaka with Yozora, and others who would rather see him with Sena; the other girls are largely relegated to DemotedToExtra status in this regard. Amusingly, Kodaka himself keeps letting it slip that ''Rika'' is really his type... or would be with a better personality, but that goes for all the girls.

* If you ever see the name "''LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya''" used in conjunction with the word "{{shipping}}", ''get out while you still have the chance.'' Someone is going to get flamed. Odds are, everyone will. In other words, never discuss your favorite pair with [[LauncherOfAThousandShips Kyon]] involved. Side pairings aren't exempt either; Haruhi/Mikuru is particularly divisive even when Kyon ''isn't'' in the discussion.

* ''LightNovel/MariaWatchesOverUs'' started getting a lot of this as older characters graduated and were replaced with new girls:

* Beware of the ''LightNovel/MyNextLifeAsAVillainessAllRoutesLeadToDoom'' fandom. As a reverse harem series with several interesting potential partners for Catarina, the arguments can get messy. As Catarina has both male and female admirers, the war between het and yuri shippers runs as hot as one might expect, and Geordo and Keith both specifically attract a fair amount of both defenders and haters; the former is Catarina's legal fiance and the latter is her [[NotBloodSiblings adopted brother]] (which carries much different connotations in Japan and America).

* The Ship-To-Ship Combat in ''LightNovel/{{Oreimo}}'' is mostly between the IncestSubtext fans who ship Kyousuke and his sister Kirino and the NoYay fans. Among the NoYay fans, there are fans for Kyousuke-[[UnluckyChildhoodFriend Manami]] (who consider her the most sane and normal of the choices) against fans for Kyousuke-Kuroneko/Ayase/other girls (who are seen as the more interesting choices).

* In ''LightNovel/ThePetGirlOfSakurasou'', should [[NiceGuy Sorata]] go with [[IdiotSavant Mashiro]] or [[{{Workaholic}} Nanami]]? The competition is tight.

* Back in the early years of the ''LightNovel/{{Slayers}}'' fandom, there were some pretty heated ship wars between Lina/Gourry and Lina/Zel shippers, made even more fun by ''Anime/LostUniverse'' with shared voice actors and character archetypes, not to mention {{fanon}} shared continuity. It's calmed down considerably since.

* Tamao and Yaya didn't have it easy despite a good army of shippers for their side for ''LightNovel/StrawberryPanic''. While the original vote was open-ended, the anime had the pairings settled as Nagisa with Shizuma and Hikari with Amane. And Tamao doesn't even have another girl to fall back on... talk about fighting for a sinking ship.

* At one point in ''LightNovel/{{Durarara}}'', Walker and Erika both ship [[OneTrueThreesome themselves and Kadota]], but they argue about who should be at the center. Walker think it should be Kadota x Erika x Walker, while [[YaoiFangirl Erika]] think it should be Walker x Kadota x Erika. Kadota isn't pleased about them discussing such things and would rather not be involved in any of this.

* Volume 9 of ''LightNovel/IsItWrongToTryToPickUpGirlsInADungeon'' almost has a very literal case of ShipToShipCombat breaking out between Ryu (who ships Bell/Syr) and Aisha (who ships Bell/Haruhime).

** Outside of the protagonists, there are aplenty of ships that dislike the other. There’s Jirō/Yaoyorozu and Kaminari/Jirō, with the former believing Jirō is by fan speculation a lesbian and the latter either saying Kaminari and Jirō are closer or acting as the middleman and making Jirō bisexual. Then there’s the well-known clash between Eraserhead/Ms. Joke with Esarhead/Present Mic, not to mention Eraserhead with All Might into the mix. Hawks is also a pretty popularly shipped character, either with Dabi or Endeavor. The Hawks/Dabi fandom usually call out Endeavor’s past romantic dilemma, and stating Endeavor is too undeserving for a second relationship and/or that the ship has an uncomfortable age gap since Hawks is the same age as Endeavor's second-oldest child, while the Endeavor/Hawks fandom often states that neither party of the Hawks/Dabi ship fully trusted each other. In the Paranormal Liberation War Arc where [[spoiler:Hawks starts to show his true colors to the PLF and Dabi is quick to burn Hawks for killing Twice, it pretty much invalidated the ship.]]

* Within the ''Manga/SoulEater'' fandom, you've got poor [[SuperOCD Death The Kid]]. Should he end up with Maka? Chrona? [[HoYay Black*Star and/or Soul?]] Or, perhaps he should end up with either Liz or Patti (or both, due to Kid's love of symmetry)? You're pretty much in a metaphorical mine field with this one.

** People who support Sayaka/Kyouko are not on good terms with [[Manga/PuellaMagiMadokaMagicaTheDifferentStory Mami/Kyouko shippers]] and they hate the fact that [[spoiler:Kyouko killing Oktavia (Sayaka's witch form) to save Mami from despair and ultimately leaving herself vulnerable to witch attack afterward]]. The feeling is mutual, as Mami/Kyouko shippers argued that [[SempaiKouhai Mami is the one who taught Kyouko everything she knew]] and [[DieForOurShip insisted that Sayaka is the third wheel]]. The existence of [[spoiler:Nagisa (Charlotte's human form)]] in canon storyline [[PairTheSpares managed to soften the shipping war between these two pairings]].

** Although not as bad as it used to be, the [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemist 2003 anime version's]] fandom fought hard over the classic trio of [[ChildhoodFriendRomance Ed/Winry]], Ed/Rose and [[HoYay Ed/Roy]]. Poor Rose herself was on the receiving end of DieForOurShip quite a bit, to the point that even mentioning her name on a Ed/Winry forum is... discouraged. (Winry and Roy were usually spared, due to greater potential for TyingUpRomanticLooseEnds and the fact that they were well-liked characters in general, whereas Rose was divisive even outside of the shipping wars.)

*** Some parts of the manga fandom do tend to be pretty militant toward fans who prefer non-canon couples to OfficialCouple Ed/Winry and the various "heavily implied" ones (Roy/Riza, Al/Mei and Ling/Lan Fan). It often becomes an engine of the [[BrokenBase everlasting "which version of FMA is better" war]], since non-canon couples are far more popular with fans of the [[Anime/FullmetalAlchemist first anime]], where Ed didn't have a canonical love interest and was overall ObliviousToLove.

* ''Manga/ElfenLied'' is notable for two reasons. First, the main LoveTriangle is between the UnluckyChildhoodFriend ClingyJealousGirl [[KissingCousins cousin]] and a psychopathic, [[SlasherSmile sadistic]] {{Yandere}} [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds with a tragic backstory]], which was engineered from the ground up to drive the fanboys into frothing ''hate'' on both sides, up to and including ''cheering on mass murder and genocide'' because "[[InsaneTrollLogic everyone deserved it]]." Second, because [[ArmedWithCanon the anime writers got in on the shipping war in favor of Kouta/Lucy]], while the manga supports Kouta/Yuka. Accordingly, Yuka's ClingyJealousGirl tendencies are played up to the point of {{Flanderization}}, while Lucy's sadism and malice are played down in favor of her bitterness and rage at the world (which are easier to sympathize with). The anime also has Kouta explicitly say that he would rather take Lucy to the festival if Yuka hadn't asked him first, which wasn't the case in the manga, and omits Lucy's admission that [[spoiler: she would have killed Yuka]] even if Kouta had been honest with her. [[spoiler:Lucy also appears to survive her final battle in the anime, but as it's CutShort, the anime team don't get to resolve the LoveTriangle.]]

** Luffy/Nami and Sanji/Nami shippers got their ''most heated'' around the Zou and Whole Cake Island arcs (since special focus was given Luffy, Nami and Sanji) like when Nami tearfully hugs Luffy tightly when she meets him again... ''but she's crying over Sanji'' ('''cue arguments'''). Then, in Whole Cake Island Pudding got in involved as Sanji LoveInterest bride which was encouraging to Luffy/Nami fans and annoyed Sanji/Nami fans [[spoiler: then it was revealed Pudding was EvilAllAlong which made Sanji/Nami shippers happy at the apparent Sanji/Pudding ShipSink. Then at the Tea Party, Pudding actually falls in love with Sanji after he compliments her third eye which made it seem like the ship was rekindled especially since Sanji saved Pudding despite her trying to kill him. Then in another twist Sanji [[FallingIntoHisArms has a big]] ShipTease moment with Nami ''right in front of Pudding'' who is left behind, which pissed off both Sanji/Pudding and Luffy/Nami fans. Then in one more twist from Oda (who you'd think was doing this intenionally at this point) Pudding kisses Sanji before the arc ends, however Pudding also takes Sanji's memories away and flees while Sanji leaves her to save Luffy. Not mention the fight between Luffy and Sanji where the latter beat up the former in front of Nami [[FakeDefector as an act]] for his family, Luffy/Nami shippers were furious at Sanji considering it a betrayal and the ArmourPiercingSlap Nami gave Sanji as validation of the ship sink between Nami and Sanji. When Nami forgives Sanji later on, Luffy/Nami shippers were bitter about it, saying Sanji didn't deserve it.]] Ironically the Zoro/Nami fans have died down through all this, mainly due to Nami not having any real screen time with Zoro.

** ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED'' would have been bad enough: [[MindGameShip Kira/Fllay]] vs [[{{Twincest}} Kira/Cagalli]] vs [[AuthorAvatar Kira/Lacus]] vs [[HoYay Kira/Athrun]] vs [[DefectingForLove Athrun/Cagalli]] vs [[ArrangedMarriage Athrun/Lacus]] (+ /- [[CantSpitItOut Yzak/Shiho]] vs [[HoYay Dearka/Yzak]] vs [[DefectingForLove Dearka/Miriallia]] vs [[ForgottenFallenFriend Tolle/Miriallia]]), but then ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny'' gave us Athrun's [[HaremGenre Harem]], [[RelationshipWritingFumble Shinn/Stellar vs Shinn/Luna]] (+ /- [[HoYay Shinn/Rey]] and [[AmnesiacDissonance Neo/Murrue]] vs [[DefectingForLove Andy/Murrue]]), and ShipSinking (and in one case, Ship Raising). Minefields aplenty for all.

* Even ''Manga/WanderingSon'''s normally calm fandom gets in on ship wars sometimes. The main issue is [[PlatonicLifePartners Nitori/Takatsuki]] vs [[OfficialCouple Nitori/Anna]] vs [[FanPreferredCouple Saori/Takatsuki]]. Nitori/Saori fans are never in on the wars because few fans ship it, despite Saori's unrequited love being a major part of her character. Nitori and Takatsuki has had a lot of fans since early on, made worse by the anime [[PromotedToLoveInterest upping]] the ShipTease, however their relationship is frequently debunked in-series and the two are portrayed as platonic. Many shippers consider Nitori's canon girlfriend Anna to have a [[SugarAndIcePersonality mean personality]] or just don't like her with Nitori. Saori/Takatsuki is a completely different bag of worms for having a huge amount of FoeRomanceSubtext, then later just ShipTease, but no one being able to tell [[RelationshipWritingFumble how intentional]] it was. The anime caused [[FoeYayShipping Nitori/Doi]] to become a thing however more than a few fans were YaoiFangirls who don't [[MisaimedFandom even see Nitori as female]]. Other fans usually ignore the ship in debates because Doi is a [[TheBully bully]] to Nitori and Nitori has shown no interest in boys (besides Takatsuki for a while).

It got very bloody as relationships developed. Even after the series ended and {{canon}} was decided, you can still see scuffles between any combination of [[PatientChildhoodLoveInterest Naruto/Hinata]], [[HoYay Naruto/Sasuke]], [[BirdsOfAFeather Naruto/Sakura]], and [[LoveMartyr Sasuke/Sakura]]. Even smaller pairings involving more minor characters can go to war, like the battles among [[OppositesAttract Sai/Ino]], [[ChildhoodFriendRomance Shikamaru/Ino]], and [[BelligerentSexualTension Shikamaru/Temari]].

* ''Manga/BlackButler'' pretty much is a war within itself nowadays, especially with the new season. (What else is expected though, when every male in the show is a total {{Bishonen}}?) Despite the only confirmed canon pairing being the (platonic) love between Sebastian/Any Cat He Can Find and the closest thing Ciel has to a canon [[ArrangedMarriage "love]] [[ShipTease interest"]] is [[KissingCousins Lizzie]] many [[YaoiFangirl fangirls]] persist over pairings like Ciel x Sebastian, which has some [[ShipTease Yaoi Fanservice]] in the manga and was TurnedUpToEleven in the anime (especially in season 2). Though Sebastian's obsession with ([[IAmAHumanitarian eating]]) Ciel's Soul ''may'' make it somewhat canon in its own right. You'll also stumble along Sebastian paired with Meirin, Finnian, Bard, Alois, Lau, Claude, ''Tanaka''... Try giving a solid standing for your pairing in a ship board, or ''especially'' on Website/YouTube, and you'll usually have at least 5 people calling you a bitch. This fandom tends to be nicer, but still.

** The release of ''Anime/SailorMoonCrystal'' added more fuel to the fire. The [[spoiler:survival of Jadeite and Nephrite at the end of episodes 3 and 5 respectively]] as well as the bigger influence of the Shitennou as a whole in the plot has revived the once ''very'' ugly debate regarding [[spoiler:the scrapped manga subplot about the Shitennou and the Inner Senshi having romantic links]] '''and''' turned it UpToEleven, sending many LesYay fans and Kunzite/Zoisite shippers [[HetisEw into screaming fits.]] Things have only gotten worse after episode 10, with the fans throwing entitled tantrums at the revelation from Act 10 [[spoiler:about the past Senshi and the past Generals having had romances before everything went FromBadToWorse.]]

* ''Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers'': Of course, when you've got [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters Loads And Loads Of]] [[AnthropomorphicPersonification Anthropomorphic Nations]], a fair amount of ShipTease, and a distinct lack of {{Official Couple}}s, you can justify pretty much ''any'' pairing under the sun. The result is that people who ship Nation X with Nation Y will find themselves at odds with those who ship either X or Y with another character. Has it's own page [[ShipToShipCombat/HetaliaAxisPowers here]] for specific examples.

** ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' had a perfect storm of many, many popular pairings involving [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters many characters]], and very subdued and ambiguous romantic development over a long period of time. * ''Manga/Reborn2004'': Oddly averted. Everyone is free to ship whatever they like, and very few people would have a serious debate about it, since most people are multi-shippers. Considering [[LauncherOfAThousandShips Tsuna]] and the LoadsandLoadsofCharacters, it's not hard to see why. Although there seems to be opposition between Gokudera/Tsuna shippers and Yamamoto/Gokudera shippers.

* ''Manga/VampireKnight'': Zero/Yuuki vs. Kaname/Yuuki in particular. Is Kaname a creepy [[spoiler:and incestuous]] BastardBoyfriend who wants to dominate Yuuki's life? Is Zero a wangsty moron who gets in between Kaname and Yuuki's True Love? Is Yuuki a "CanonSue", thus "undeserving" of both guys? This whole ship war between both ships is the reason some fans stopped reading the manga altogether.

** Some Ulquiorra/Orihime fans have also joined in the Ship-to-Ship Combat against Ichigo/Orihime. Orihime is frequently criticised for not falling out of love with Ichigo and is blamed for the BreakTheCutie events that happen to her -- some of them being caused by Ulquiorra. Alternatively, these "special" fans tend to deliberately handwave or completely erase [[DracoInLeatherPants Ulquiorra's]] [[HeroKiller less]] [[ManipulativeBastard savory]] [[LackOfEmpathy traits]] to make him look like Orihime's "perfect prince" who'll whisk her away from Ichigo... nevermind that the major appeals of the couple would be the potential MindGameShip, AngelDevilShipping, CorruptTheCutie and/or FoeYay aspects.

* ''Anime/CodeGeass'': The pairing wars between Lelouch/Kallen and Lelouch/C.C. shippers can get pretty vicious at times. And they're ''hardly'' the only two ships out there: there's also [[FoeYay Lelouch/Suzaku]], [[IncestYayShipping Lelouch/Nunnally, Lelouch/Euphemia]], [[SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl Lelouch/Shirley]], [[HoYay Lelouch/Rolo]]... [[LauncherOfAThousandShips yeah.]] That's not even getting into all the Suzaku ships, either: there's Suzaku/Euphie, Suzaku/Lelouch, Suzaku/Gino, etc..

* ''Manga/DGrayMan'': The shipping wars of pairing [[LauncherOfAThousandShips Allen]] with their favorite {{OTP}}. The sad thing is that he hasn't even really shown ''that'' much interest in ''any'' of them, being a [[WordOfGod confirmed]] CelibateHero who has expressed adamant disinterest in anything romantic. There's the obvious wars between Lenalee/Allen and Road/Allen fans, and ''then'' there's the HoYay / FoeYay shippers (Kanda/Allen, Lavi/Allen, [[FoeYay Tyki/Allen]])...

* ''Manga/DeathNote'' has a couple pairings, such as [[FoeYay Light/L]], Mello/Near, and Mello/Matt, along with pairing any of the above with an original character in fanfiction. In particular, a few years back, the Mello/Near shippers got into a ''nasty'' fight with the Mello/Matt ones.

** ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00'' has seen its share of Ship-To-Ship Combat, with fans endlessly debating about who [[TheHero Setsuna]] should be paired with, whether it be with [[ActualPacifist Marina Ismail]], [[BridgeBunnies Feldt Grace]] or [[CuteAndPsycho Nena Trinity]]. It doesn't help that supplementary materials (which incidentally are considered non-canon) released lead to complications as to who Setsuna will really end up with, thus leading to further confusion and debate. Of course some ship him with [[FoeYay Graham]] and [[CargoShip Gundam]] as well.

** [[PseudoRomanticFriendship Ryuko x Mako]] vs. [[FoeYay Ryuko x Satsuki]]. Both ships were extremely popular during the series original run. While the former's fate was left ambiguous, the latter fared [[ShipSinking much less well.]] The roots of Ryuko/Satsuki's death as a ship were planted in Episode 16 when a [[spoiler: [[ParentalIncest key reason for Satsuki's villainous nature]]]] was revealed. And said reason made people feel unsure about portraying her in romantic relationships (especially with [[spoiler: other women]]). Then Episode 18 revealed that [[spoiler: Satsuki and Ryuko are siblings.]] Combine the implications of those two revelations, and a fair amount of people [[AbandonShipping abandoned]] [[spoiler:Ryuko x Sastuki]]. Of course, [[IncestYayShipping others did not]].

** Sinja (Sinbad x Ja'far) shippers versus Sinju (Sinbad x Judar) shippers. Fanart of Sinbad often features either Ja'far or Judar as his romantic interest. While Sinbad's relationship with Judar is more FoeYay than HoYay as with Ja'far, both ships are more or less equal in power.

* ''Manga/ThePrinceOfTennis'' fandom is FULL of passive-aggressive fights because of its HoYay and FoeYay.

** And, while we're on the subject of Maka, the most popular people to pair her up with are [[ImpliedLoveInterest Soul]], [[ShipsThatPassInTheNight Kid]], and [[FoeYay Chrona]]. Fans often disagree over which one is the true OTP.

Other fans usually ignore the ship in debates because Doi is a [[TheBully bully]] to Nitori and Nitori has shown no interest in boys (besides Takatsuki for a while).

It's gotten to the point that the shippers are ''getting withdrawals'' due to the fact that they can't bash somebody due to the fact that they're not the love interest of that arc.

* In ''Manga/TheWorldGodOnlyKnows'', thanks to ''nine'' {{One True Pairing}}s and one canon CargoShip (as explained in the manga's [[YMMV/TheWorldGodOnlyKnows YMMV Page]]), [[AGodAmI Keima]] is somehow locked inside a 10-way tussle... until the author finally decided via [=FLAG=] 267 to [[ShipSinking sink all but one ship]] involved. Chelia has canon on her side by virtue of it focusing more on her relationship with Wendy compared to Romeo, but it's easy for fans to imagine Romeo develop a crush on Wendy given they're both the only two pre-teens about each other's age in Fairy Tail.

* As a series with a boy with 31 girls as his harem, ''Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi'' is bound to have this. Even though Asuna/Negi and Nodoka/Negi are the two favorites, Chisame/Negi got more popular later on, having at least one in-universe endorser, rabid fans who tout it as if it was already canon and, [[HilariousInHindsight funny enough]], [[spoiler:turned out to actually be canon]]. However, most of the fights do get ameliorated, mainly because there is one shipping that everyone can agree on: [[SchoolgirlLesbians Setsuna/Konoka]]. God help those who go against this sacred pairing.

** Luffy/Nami and Sanji/Nami shippers got their ''most heated'' around the Zou and Whole Cake Island arcs (since special focus was given Luffy, Nami and Sanji) like when Nami tearfully hugs Luffy tightly when she meets him again... ''but she's crying over Sanji'' ('''cue arguments'''). Then, in Whole Cake Island Pudding got in involved as Sanji LoveInterest bride which was encouraging to Luffy/Nami fans and annoyed Sanji/Nami fans [[spoiler: then it was revealed Pudding was EvilAllAlong which made Sanji/Nami shippers happy at the apparent Sanji/Pudding ShipSink. Then at the Tea Party, Pudding actually falls in love with Sanji after he compliments her third eye which made it seem like the ship was rekindled especially since Sanji saved Pudding despite her trying to kill him. Then in another twist Sanji [[FallingIntoHisArms has a big]] ShipTease moment with Nami ''right infront of Pudding'' who is left behind, which pissed off both Sanji/Pudding and Luffy/Nami fans. Then in one more twist from Oda (who you'd think was doing this intenionally at this point) Pudding kisses Sanji before the arc ends, however Pudding also takes Sanji's memories away and flees while Sanji leaves her to save Luffy. Not mention the fight between Luffy and Sanji where the latter beat up the former in front of Nami [[FakeDefector as an act]] for his family, Luffy/Nami shippers were furious at Sanji considering it a betrayal and the ArmourPiercingSlap Nami gave Sanji as validation of the ship sink between Nami and Sanji. When Nami forgives Sanji later on, Luffy/Nami shippers were bitter about it, saying Sanji didn't deserve it.]] Ironically the Zoro/Nami fans have died down through all this, mainly due to Nami not having any real screen time with Zoro.

* ''Manga/DetectiveConan'': [[ChildhoodFriendRomance Shinichi]] / [[ActionGirl Ran]] and [[DeadpanSnarker Conan]] / [[ASharedSuffering Ai]] (keep in mind that Shinichi and Conan are the same person). Some boards even ban threads discussing either pairing. Though the English-speaking fandom is fairly peaceful, you still need to tread carefully.

* In ''Manga/DetectiveConan'', Ran comments that Ayumi and Conan would be a cute ship. Her best friend Sonoko ships Conan with Ai, however. HilarityEnsues.

** The ''Anime/RebuildOfEvangelion'' films have also helped reignite the debate by giving a new continuity to work with. The ShipTease between Shinji and Rei made many shippers jumping the gun and declaring them OfficialCouple, whereas Shinji/Asuka supporters argued that Shinji/Asuka got plenty ShipTease too, and the Rei/Shinji couple was doomed anyway because would inevitably would be revealed that [[spoiler:Rei has been built with the DNA of Shinji's mother Yui]] just like in the original series and that she and Shinji are simply confused about the type of love they have for each other. Finally [[WhamEpisode Evangelion]] [[DarkerAndEdgier 3.0]] wrote off Shinji/Rei, and now the fight boils down between the Shinji/Asuka fans and [[LesYay Mari/Asuka]] shippers, apart from giving the [[HoYay Kaworu/Shinji]] pairing more ground.

* The ''Manga/{{Devilman}}'' fandom has always had one or another discussion about the nature of Akira's feelings for Ryo and Miki, but the newest adaptation ''Anime/DevilmanCrybaby'' has brought them to the internet surface.

* ''Franchise/{{Jewelpet}}'' has a pretty minuscule fandom, so for the most part they're polite about this.
